The Daily Brief - Friday, May 11, 2012

"I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations." (Psalm 89:1)

The Daily Brief

1. a) Obama becomes first U.S. president to support gay marriage - Ha'aretz
Obama became the first U.S. President to publicly express support for same-sex marriage on Wednesday, and U.S. Jewish groups came out in support of his statements.

b) Biden Said to Apologize to Obama for Gay Marriage Remark - Bloomberg
Vice President Joe Biden apologized to Obama for upsetting the White House's timetable for revealing Obama's support for same-sex marriage, according to an administration official. The gay community hailed Biden as the "highest political figure" in the land to support gay marriage on the day Biden made his remarks, adding pressure on Obama to refute that claim.

c) Senate may try to repeal Defense of Marriage Act - Politico

A day after Obama endorsed gay marriage, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid suggested Thursday that Democrats may move to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, the Clinton-era law that defined marriage as between a man and a woman.

- Father, we are grieved as we witness these infamous statements by Obama, and Vice-President, affirming their support for gay marriage, for the first time in the history of our nation. We ask, Lord, for Your forgiveness and mercy for them, and for our nation, as a whole. We know that many of these people do not know what Your Word says about this practice, so we ask that You would reveal to them Your will, law and teaching regarding this perversion, and that they would repent. With this being an election year, it seems that many in our government appear to be more interested in gaining votes, than in doing what is right. We pray that the Democrats in the Senate, will fail in their attempts to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. Thank You for Your mercy!

- "Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality," (I Corinthians 6:9 NLT; see also I Timothy 1:10)

2. 324,000 Women Dropped Out of Labor Force in Last Two Months--As Number of Women Not in Labor Force Hits Hits all-time High - CNS News

324,000 women dropped out of the nation's civilian labor force in March and April as the number of women not in the labor force hit an all-time historical high of 53,321,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

- Abba, with so many families needing two incomes in these economic times, we are surprised by these figures. We are not sure if these women quit their jobs, or if their jobs were eliminated. You know each one and their situation and needs, and we ask that You show them Your love and provision, financially, and in every other area of their lives. Show them Your salvation, and may they put their trust in You, as Lord, and Saviour. Amen.

- "I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]." (Philipians 4:13)

3. J.P. Morgan's $2 Billion Blunder - Wall Street Journal

A massive trading bet boomeranged on J.P. Morgan Chase JPM, leaving the bank with at least $2 billion in trading losses and its chief executive, James Dimon, with a rare black eye following a long run as what some called the "King of Wall Street."

- Lord, we ask You to use this unfortunate situation to show how transitory riches are, and how unsure. May those who look to Wall Street realize that true riches, are in You, and that You give wisdom to obtain what is necessary for our needs. Amen!

- "That I may cause those who love Me to inherit [true] riches and that I may fill their treasuries. You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as it is today."
(Proverbs 8:21; Deuteronomy 8:17.18)

4. Texas one step closer to Real I.D. Act - Connect Amarillo

More identification is now required in order to apply for a Texas driver license or identification card, and this new change has brought the state closer to complying with the controversial Real I.D. Act.

- Abba, we ask for wisdom, not only for the lawmakers in Texas, but also for those who are affected by these laws. We ask that folks will not have to receive an ID chip, in order to drive a car. We ask that the privacy of individuals be honored according to our Constitution. We thank You for Your intervention. Amen.

- " He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]." (Psalm 91:1)

5. US downs missile with new interceptor - UK Telegraph

Video released by the Department of Defense shows what it claims to be the first successful test of the Navy's newest anti-missile interceptor.

- Lord, we thank You for the success of this mission. We thank You for the technological knowledge You have given to our Navy to produce this weapon of defense. We pray that this will be used for good, and not for evil; and that it would become a deterrent to those who would desire to cause us harm. Amen.

- "But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."
(James 3:17,18)

Chicago is heating up this month on the heals of the recent May Day protests, shown here, as members of the Occupy movement brace for confrontation with police when the city hosts an upcoming NATO summit.

- Please keep the City of Chicago bathed in prayer from now through the end of the upcoming NATO summit later this month. Information available on the internet points to a potentially truly alarming situation, unless we pray. Thank you!

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

8. Appeals Court Denounces Day of Prayer in Colorado - Fox News

Colorado court rules Day of Prayer unconstitutional for sending message believers 'favored' over nonbelievers. Read more.

- Here we go again! Ask our Lord to forgive the judges that sit on this court, for they know not what they do. The enemy of our souls and of our faith is at the gate, and his efforts against the righteous will be more and more unrelenting until the day of Christ's return. May God rule in mercy, and in justice, from the courts of heaven against this wicked decree. Pray for a quick and successful appeal to this decision in a higher court of law. Amen.

- "In wrath, remember mercy."
(Habakkuk 3:2)

The Daily Jot!

The prophetic consequences of great abominations

The man who occupies the Oval Office has announced his personal support for same sex marriage. Joe Biden gave new meaning to the word "vice" president when he announced his support for homosexual marriage. But this goes well beyond personal support. Homosexual marriage emanating from the White House is even deeper than political, it is spiritual and institutionalized within this administration. White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters, "I think the President has always been clear about his support for LGBT rights and the actions that he's taken, including repealing "don't ask, don't tell"; the fact that he has long opposed the Defense of Marriage Act..."

Carney went on to say that not only the president's Administration refuses to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, but that "The president's belief that DOMA ought to be repealed is well stated." Let's face it: regarding homosexual marriage, this Administration is sold out. In fact, sources with access to the White House tell The Daily Jot that there is homosexual representation on the cabinet, and many homosexuals in positions of authority throughout the White House staff. It could be said with some certainty that homosexuals are in major policy and decision making positions--a distinct minority of people who are identified with sexual perversion running important aspects of the nation.

Couple this with continued reports that Muslims sympathetic or formerly connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic organizations also hold high positions within the Administration and its cabinet level departments. Consider that there are many confirmations that Muslims connected to radical Islamic elements hold positions within the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. When one considers that this Administration embraces the most vile antithesis to the Jewish and Christian faiths as documented by the Holy Scriptures, can anyone miss the prophetic consequences of these institutionalized endeavors?

When Ezekiel dug inside the wall of the temple he saw great abominations by the leaders of the Jews. If Americans could see inside the walls of our government, they would see great abominations. The Lord asked the prophet if it were a "light thing" that they "commit the abominations which they commit here?" And said in Ezekiel 8:18, "Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them." We the People need to deal righteously with these abominations because YHVH has blessed us with a government of the people. Make no mistake. Look around. YHVH is already dealing with our sinful nature as a nation.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

A Special Message from Bill Wilson

Dear Capitol Hill Prayer Partners,

Last week, one of my Daily Jot's spoke about those who may be interested in taking the next step toward restoring our nation back to its God-given Constitutional principles. You were encouraged to write me back with "I'm Game" in the subject line. We have had hundreds actually respond.

Problem is, that many of you when you responded, the email went straight back to CHPP instead of The Daily Jot. This was not a CHPP initiative and we do not want to confuse the two. So if you did send it back to CHPP, please resend your email to bill@dailyjot.com with "I'm Game" in the subject line and we will get back to you in short order.

I am sorry for any of the confusion. I am grateful for your enthusiastic response! Blessings and praise to our Lord and Savior!

Obama Has 'Shaken His Fist' at God

Franklin Graham: Obama Has 'Shaken His Fist' at God

Evangelist Franklin Graham said Obama has "shaken his fist at God" by voicing support for gay marriage. In an interview Wednesday with ABC News, Obama said his opinions had evolved and he now believes same-sex couples should have the right to wed. "At a certain point, I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married," Obama said.

Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham, said the president was defying God's will by changing his opinion on the issue. "President Obama has, in my view, shaken his fist at the same God who created and defined marriage. It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more," Graham said in a statement. "This is a sad day for America. May God help us," he said.

NARAL President to Resign

From CitizenLink:

Surge in Pro-Life Millennials Ushers NARAL Leader's Exit

by Steve Fountain

The increasing number of young people who strongly support pro-life causes has prompted the president of the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) Pro-Choice America to resign at the end of the year.

Nancy Keenan, 60, cited NARAL's own data in telling The Washington Post Thursday that "new and younger leadership" is needed to reach Millennials - people between the ages of 18 and 34.

"The reasons she gave were just such a victory for the pro-life movement, because she acknowledges that they have been losing the new generation of young women," said Janice Crouse, Ph.D., a senior fellow at the Beverly LaHaye Institute.

From the National Right to Life Committee (excerpt):

Dear Friends,

In an exclusive interview with the Washington Post's Sarah Kliff released tonight, NARAL President Nancy Keenan announced that she would be stepping down from her post at the end of the year.

Kliff writes in her story:

In recent years, Keenan has worried about an 'intensity gap' on abortion rights among millennials, which the group considers to be the generation of Americans born between 1980 and 1991. While most young, antiabortion voters see abortion as a crucial political issue, NARAL's own internal research does not find similar passion among abortion-rights supporters.

In other words, Nancy Keenan's conclusion is something we have known for years: the post-Roe generations are pro-life - and more passionately so than their parents' generations and their pro-abortion, post-Roe counterparts.

We know from Gallup that 61% of the country believes abortion should be illegal in all circumstances or legal only in a few circumstances. We know from Gallup that 45% of the country self-identifies as pro-life. We know from Gallup that 51% of Americans believe abortion is morally wrong. And we know that when those questions are asked of the post¬-Roe generation, the numbers tend to skew higher. . .

Look back to 2003 when the New York Times Magazine quoted David J. Garrow, a hard-core pro-abortion "legal historian" at Emory University, as stating, "There's been so much media attention over the last seven to eight years on partial-birth abortion, we shouldn't be surprised that some of it has had an effect on 12-to-14-year-olds, and it is a public relations coup for the National Right to Life Committee."

The other side has noticed. And they're "worried."
Keep up the great work. Together we will win . . . for their lives

Bonus Legislation [Every week, we will try to spotlight some positive legislation that is worthy of conservative support.]

H.R. 4301 - (EXPAND) Act

It has become a universal for politicians to express their support for an "all of the above energy policy." Well, conservative Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) has proposed the most comprehensive free-market energy bill that takes a true all of the above approach. It opens up ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) including Gulf Coast, Alaska, Atlantic, and Pacific for energy leases and permits. It also approves new leasing areas such as the Southern Atlantic OCS and the Eastern Gulf. Furthermore, it approves the Keystone XL pipeline, opens Yucca Mountain for receiving nuclear waste, sunsets energy production tax credits, and eliminates ethanol mandates.

What about green energy? It opens up all federal lands to solar and wind farm leases, but offers no subsidies. This is what a true free-market energy bill looks like. Please ask your congressman to cosponsor this meritorious piece of legislation

Happy Mother's Day!

"One Good Turn Deserves a Mother"

Most people say that you can't put a dollar amount on everything moms do, but if you did, salary.com says they would earn about $112,962 a year. That ranks right up there with top ad executives, marketing directors, and judges. Each year, Salary.com calculates the wages by combining the earning power of the jobs that resemble a mom's role--like a laundry machine operator, housekeeper, teacher, babysitter, cook, janitor, driver, chief executive, and psychologist. In the end, though, no website can put a price tag on the sacrifices our moms make to raise children of strength and character.

Back in Old Testament days, people didn't need a survey to understand a woman's value. Proverbs says, "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue... Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'" (Proverbs 31:10, 25-26, 28-29)

I am blessed to have both a mother and a wife that fit that description! To all the moms out there who make such an indelible impact on our families and our culture, thank you--and Happy Mother's Day!
