"I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below . . . " (Acts 2:19a)

 The Daily Brief

1. 22 arrested in plot against U.S., Israeli embassies - FoxNews.com

Officials in Azerbaijan have arrested 22 people suspected of plotting attacks on the American and Israeli embassies in the capital Baku. The plot was reportedly on behalf of Azerbaijan's neighbor, Iran, according to the national security ministry.

- Father, we continue to ask Your Holy protection over Israel and the US against the evil actions of the Iranian regime. We thank You for revealing the plot against the embassies, and bringing the 22 people before a court of law. We ask that Your intervention continue on behalf of Your people, and that wisdom would prevail in any military action planned by the west.

(Amos 9: 15)

2. 'Car Bomb' As Panetta Lands In Afghanistan
- Sky News

A suspected car bomb attack has taken place at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan, Sky Sources have revealed.

- Father, we erect a hedge of the Blood of Jesus around not only Mr. Panetta, but all of our leaders wherever they may be. We ask that Satan not be allowed to touch our men and women for any reason.

- " in Whom we have redemption through His Blood" (Colossians 1:14a)

3. NAACP Asks UN to Judge US Voter Laws  - Fox News

The controversy over requiring voters to provide photo IDs has reached the world stage.

The United Nations Human Rights Council is investigating the issue of American election laws at its gathering on minority rights in Geneva, Switzerland. This, despite the fact that some members of the council have only in the past several years allowed women to vote, and one member, Saudi Arabia, still bars women from the voting booth completely.

Read more:

- Lord, this travesty is a plot against the Sovereignty of the United States. We bind the continual running to foreign nations by groups which are throwing temper tantrums at laws designed to protect the voting integrity of our nation.

- "lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambition, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults"
(2 Corinthians 12:20)

4. a) Obamacare to cost Twice as Much? - Fox News

New Congressional Budget Office estimate of Obama's health care law out to 2022 shows the bill is substantially more expensive than believed, twice as much as the original $900 billion price tag.

b) Four large US banks fail stress tests - AFP

Citigroup was one of four large US banks that flunked stress tests aimed at seeing how they would hold up in a new economic crisis, Federal Reserve data showed Tuesday.

c) Current-Account Deficit in U.S. Widens to $124.1 Billion - Bloomberg

The current-account deficit in the U.S. widened more than forecast in the fourth quarter to $124.1 billion, the biggest in three years.

- Lord, as the economic crisis continues to spiral downward, and legislation is passed that has secret pricetags, we pray that You will intervene against this constant spending cycle. Without something to put a stop to the spending, our nation stands on the brink. Father, have mercy over America, we pray!

- "Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him."
(Proverbs 26:27)

5. American flag with President Obama's image sparks outrage at Florida Democrats - Fox News

An American flag with President Obama's image in place of the stars flew over a Florida county's Democrat headquarters long enough to enrage local veterans who called the altered banner "a disgrace."

Lake County Democratic Party officials took down the flag, which flew just below a standard Old Glory on the flagpole outside headquarters in Tavares following complaints by local veterans. But merely taking it down wasn't enough for several local veterans, who said they fought for the flag Betsy Ross made famous, not one with a politician on it.

- Father, this is a narcissistic display much like that of Stalin, Ahmadinejad, or Fidel Castro. We pray in Jesus' Name for Mr. Obama and for the Democratic party, that Your Holy Spirit will literally drive them to their knees in repentance.

- "that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:10-11)

- Pray that other leaders and candidates in this election year will pick up on this theme. Even in matters of our national language, united we stand, divided we fall.

- "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation." (Matthew 12:25)

Reid Wants to Attach Export-Import Bank Provision to Bipartisan Jobs Bill

Last week, the House passed a slam-dunk jobs bill (H.R. 3606) 390-23. The bill reduces red tape, securities regulations, and reporting requirements on small companies that desire to go public. It also eliminated some of the new regulations implemented under Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley on companies that generate less than $1 billion in annual revenue. With all the unctuous complaints about partisanship, one would expect the Senate to harness this rare opportunity to work together and pass the bill expeditiously. With Harry Reid in charge of the Senate, all bets are off.

Reid announced that he would bring the House bill to the floor, but would attempt to attach a non-germane amendment to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, which expires May 31, through 2015 and raise its loan limit from $100 billion to $140 billion. He is taking a no-brainer bill and sinking it with a poison pill. What's worse, the consideration of the House jobs bill was supposed to be the prize to Republicans for agreeing not to block Obama's judicial nominees that are being rammed through the Senate in short order.

Unfortunately, the Ex-Im corporate welfare bank is not necessarily a poison pill for many Republicans. In typical pale-pastel fashion, House leaders planned to bring a separate Ex-Im bill to the floor that would enact one-year reauthorization at $113 billion.

At a time when we are fighting against Obama's corporate welfare, why are we picking winners and losers in the market by extending taxpayer loans to entities that are too risky to receive private-sector loans? When we are scouring Obama over his loans to failed solar energy companies, why are we agreeing to expand the Fannie Mae of corporate welfare?
Republicans must call out Harry Reid for his duplicity and must stand united against the Ex-Im Bank reauthorization.

Obamacare: 20 million may lose coverage

CBO: Health law could cause as many as 20 million to lose employer coverage

As many as 20 million Americans could lose their employer-provided coverage because of President Obama's healthcare reform law, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said in a new report Thursday.

The figure represents the worst-case scenario, CBO says, and the law could just as well increase employer coverage by 3 million people in 2019.

The best estimate, subject to a "tremendous amount of uncertainty," is that about 3 million to 5 million fewer people will obtain coverage through their employer each year from 2019 through 2022.

The new report adds more detail to this week's update of the law's coverage provisions, which CBO released Tuesday. Compared to a year ago, the law is now anticipated to cover two million fewer people but cost $50 billion less over 10 years, after factoring penalties paid by individuals and businesses that don't get or provide healthcare coverage.

Republicans immediately pounced after the new numbers came out because they appear to violate Obama's pledge that people who like their health plans will be able to keep them. Last year, CBO's best estimate was that only one million people would lose employer-sponsored coverage. (The Hill)

Prayer:

We decree over every justice on the Supreme Court, as he or she judges the legality of the health care law:

"The Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might and knowledge. May the fear of the Lord be their delight - so they will not judge by the sight of their eyes or the hearing of their ears, but with righteousness and equity." (Isaiah 11:2-4)

Prayer at the Court

Encircle the Supreme Court in Prayer March 25

Begininning on Monday, March 25, the US Supreme Court is hearing three days of arguments regarding the Affordable Care Act-the healthcare bill that has brought the HHS Mandate upon us among other deeply troubling concerns.

So on Sunday, March 25 from 2 to 4 p.m., people of faith will hold a vigil to Encircle the Court in Prayer, surrounding the Supreme Court building in prayer that justice may be done in these proceedings. You are invited to be a part of this historic event.

Specifically, prayers will be offered that whatever conclusions the Supreme Court reaches on the Affordable Care Act, that the religious freedom and freedom of conscience will be respected, that there will be no taxpayer subsidizing of abortion, and that the US Constitution will be honored.

At the end of the vigil, 3,300 flowers will be left around the building to remind the justices of the 3,300 Americans who lose their lives every day to the horror of abortion. Participants are asked to bring their own flowers.

For more information on the Encircle the Court in Prayer vigil, visit the event website.

Rally for Religious Freedom

March 23rd, Across the Nation: "Stand Up for Religious Freedom--Stop the HHS Mandate!"

This Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom is being held Friday, March 23 at noon, local time, outside federal buildings, Congressional offices and historic sites across the country.

Thousands of Americans of all faiths will be participating in these peaceful rallies, organized by the Pro-Life Action League and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society to oppose the new mandate from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that requires all employers provide free contraceptives, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans, even in violation of their consciences. Religious leaders and other public figures will speak out against the HHS Mandate at each Rally site. Holding signs reading "Stand Up for Religious Freedom" and "Stop the HHS Mandate," participants will offer hymns and prayers for our nation and pass out literature to the public about why the HHS Mandate is unconstitutional and Un-American.

The Rally in Washington, DC (12 Noon) is being held at: The Department of Health and Human Services, 200 Independence Avenue Southwest

Forgery gate:

Ignoring Arpaio's report is a scandal in itself

Is President Obama's birth certificate a forgery? Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., believes it is. Mr. Arpaio's investigators have come to a stunning conclusion: The long-form birth certificate Mr. Obama released last year is a "computer-generated forgery." With the exception of The Washington Times, however, no major U.S. media outlet reported this bombshell story. The liberal press corps is desperately trying to suppress any discussion of Forgerygate - potentially one of the biggest scandals in American history.

"Based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic," Sheriff Arpaio said. "My investigators believe that the long-form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in paper format as claimed by the White House."

The Washington Times story, written by Stephen Dinan, points out that Mr. Arpaio has called for Congress to investigate the matter. Think about this: A high-profile sheriff orders a team of former law enforcement officials to examine whether the president is truly a natural born citizen and that he has the constitutional and legal right to occupy the White House. Their official report is that Mr. Obama's documents are shoddy and he likely engaged in deliberate fraud. And yet, most of the American press corps doesn't believe this is an important news story? The liberal media has become rotten to the core.

Ironically, the foreign press reported widely on the story. For example, Pravda - that's right, the former official organ of the Soviet Communist Party - did an extensive analysis of Mr. Arpaio's findings. The article by Dianna Cotter asks the obvious question: What are U.S. journalists afraid of? (The Washington Times) Read more.

Iran: "We Must Destroy America"

IRANIAN COMMANDER SAYS WE MUST DESTROY AMERICA

(Washington, DC, March 15, 2012) -- A senior Iranian commander this week is calling for the destruction not just of Israel but of the United States of America, as well. "As long as America exists, we will not rest," said Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi, head of the Basij paramilitary force. "In revealing the truth about America and the Zionists, we must raise public hate against the despotic powers and create the environment for the destruction of America." Such language is consistent with the Twelver eschatology held by the senior Iranian leadership that says Iran must seek to annihilate Israel (the "Little Satan" in their view) and the U.S. (which they call the "Great Satan") in order to hasten the coming of the Twelfth Imam and the establishment of a global Islamic kingdom or Caliphate.

Yesterday, President Obama issued his strongest warning to Iran yet, saying Tehran must cut a deal soon or "face the consequences." He and Israeli PM Netanyahu are clearly preparing their own countries and the world for war. More details on this are on the blog. Also on the blog is the latest update on rocket fire from Gaza. There is a truce in place, but it hasn't stopped all the incoming attacks by the Palestinians.

In this context, The Joshua Fund board and staff are gathering for the next few days to review our war preparations and pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for wisdom for all the leaders in the region. We would be grateful for your prayers as we seek the Lord's guidance to how we can be better prepared when this larger regional war comes, as well as how to be a blessing to those caught in the crossfire from more than 225 rockets fired from Gaza over the past week.
