The Daily Brief - Thursday, June 9, 2011

Jesus answered, "It is written . . ." (Matthew 4:4)

The Daily Brief

1. Nuclear fuel has melted through base of Fukushima plant - UK Telegraph

The nuclear fuel in three of the reactors at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear plant has melted through the base of the pressure vessels and is pooling in the outer containment vessels, according to a report by the Japanese government.

- Lord, we place Japan and its nuclear disaster firmly in Your Hands. We ask for their souls in salvation, and we pray for their restoration and help in Your mercy. We ask for their land, all of the ocean, and every creature that stands in the path of this meltdown. Man may not be able to stop it, but our Mighty God can.

- "For He has not despised or detested the torment of the afflicted. He did not hide His face from him, but listened when he cried to Him for help." (Psalm 22:24)

2. a) Iran: Advanced centrifuges to be set up soon at Qom nuclear site - Ha'aretz

Iran's nuclear energy chief and Vice President Fereidoun Abbasi was quoted Wednesday by the official Iranian IRNA news agency as saying Tehran plans to soon set up the more advanced type of centrifuges, suitable for higher-level uranium enrichment, at the Fordo site near the holy city of Qom in central Iran.

b) Iran to move its most sensitive nuclear equipment to bunker - Washington Post

Iran is moving its production of higher-enriched uranium to a mountain bunker, where it plans to triple output by using more advanced centrifuges, state television reported Wednesday.

- Father, we declare Your Word over the Middle East, Your protection for Israel and those who love her. We trust in Your faithfulness and power to stop any and all plans against Your people.

- "I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrential rain, hailstones, fire and brimstone on him, as well as his troops and the many peoples who are with him. I will display My greatness and holiness, and will reveal Myself in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord." (Ezekiel 38:22-23)

3. Breaking News Alert: Billions of dollars in Afghanistan development programs at risk - Washington Post

The hugely expensive U.S. attempt at nation-building in Afghanistan has had only limited success and may not survive an American withdrawal, according to the findings of a two-year congressional investigation to be released Wednesday. The report, by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Democratic staff, calls on the administration to rethink its assistance programs as President Obama prepares to begin drawing down the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan this summer.

- Lord, we call upon You for freedom for Afghanistan- the freedom of Jesus Christ. Without Your salvation and shalom peace, they have no hope to have a nation without bloodshed and war. Loose Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and bring Your restoration to them!

- "And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations." (Isaiah 61:4)

4. Report: US Steps up Covert Strikes in Yemen - AP

The Obama administration has intensified the covert U.S. war in Yemen, hitting militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, The New York Times reported late Wednesday.

The accelerated campaign has occurred in recent weeks as violent conflict in Yemen has left the government in Sanaa struggling to cling to power, the Times said.

- Lord, we are concerned about the wisdom of this covert war in Yemen. We pray that You would release wisdom to our leadership, and protection for our military. We ask that if we are to take down the Yemeni government it would occur quickly, without room for militant jihadists to gain ground. We pray for the people of Yemen to know Your freedom, Your truth, and we bind up the deceptions that have existed in that country for centuries.

- "He who states his case first seems right, until his rival comes and cross-examines him." (Proverbs 18:17) Amplified

5. FCC Agrees to Take 'Fairness Doctrine' Off the Books - Fox News

Under GOP pressure, the Federal Communications Commission has agreed to strike from its books an outdated yet still controversial regulation of political speech on the airwaves known as the Fairness Doctrine.

FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski said in a letter to a House Republican leader this week that the agency's effort to identify and eliminate "antiquated and outmoded rules that unnecessarily burden business, stifle investment and innovation, or confuse consumers and licensees" will include a recommendation to delete the Fairness Doctrine.

- Thank You, Lord for this beginning of victories against those who seek to silence free speech in America! We bind up any attempts to revive this doctrine from liberals in Congress, and pray your blessing and protection over the plan to delete it.

- "There are many devices in a man's heart, but nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand." (Proverbs 19:21)

6. Citi: Hackers Tapped into Data of 200G Cardholders - Reuters

Citigroup said computer hackers breached the bank's network and accessed the data of about 200,000 bank card holders in North America, the latest of a string of cyber attacks on high-profile companies.Citi said the names of customers, account numbers and contact information, including email addresses, were viewed in the breach, which the Financial Times said was discovered by the bank in early May.

- Lord, we ask that You protect the clients of Citibank. We ask that You reveal the hackers and bring justice to them. We ask that You give knowledge and wisdom to all who fight cyber attacks in America.

- "I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him" (Psalm 91:15b)

7. a) Fresh Downgrade Threat to U.S. Debt - Wall Street Journal

A third rating agency threatened to downgrade the U.S. government's credit status if Congress failed to increase the nation's borrowing limit by early August, increasing pressure on lawmakers and the Obama administration to reach a deficit-reduction deal.

b) Politicians bicker as US deficit worries mount - AFP

Warnings that the United States is playing chicken with a debt default came thick and fast Wednesday, but in Washington politicians appeared no closer to avoiding the unthinkable.

- Lord, we know that the United States sits on the edge of a Humpty-Dumpty fall. It seems inevitable that we collapse into disaster - except that You are our Hope in the midst of trouble. Father, our nation has sinned against You in uncountable ways, and that, too, seems unstoppable. And yet we continue to praise Your Mighty Name and place our trust in You for mercy.

- "I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." (Psalm 34:4)

8. 2 Arizona Towns Empty as Wildfire Approaches Power Lines - AP

Fire crews worked through the night to protect several Arizona mountain communities from a growing forest fire that has forced thousands from their homes and threatens transmission lines that supply electricity as far east as Texas.

The 607-square-mile blaze, the second largest ever in Arizona, is expected to reach the power lines as early as Friday. If the lines are damaged, hundreds of thousands in parts of New Mexico and Texas could face rolling blackouts.

- Father we call on You for mercy over Arizona. These fires may have been deliberately set, so we ask for swift justice to the perpetrators. We take authority over wind and fire in the Name of Jesus and command it to dissipate and stop. We pray for Your protection over the power lines, the homes, the firefighters, and ask for a hedge of the Holy Spirit around them.

- "When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; nor shall the flame kindle upon you." (Isaiah 43:2c)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. (Psalm 33:8-12 NKJV)

The Daily Jot

The forces of darkness meet in secret; let our light so shine!

What do the executive officers of Alcoa, Royal Dutch Shell, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, Clarium Capital Management, and Airbus have in common with Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the American Enterprise Institute, the Hudson Institute, and David Rockefeller? These are all members of the steering committee for one of the most secretive organizations on earth--The Bilderberg group. This secret society is holding its annual meeting in Switzerland this week. According to Bilderberg investigative journalist Jim Tucker, the globalists will be discussing how to broaden their profit making with the war in Libya, measures to globalize national sovereignty, and use high gas prices to control economies.

Bilderberg attendees provoke vast conspiracy theories about global control, war profiteering, and destroying and building economies for profit and global governance. Indeed, its secretive meetings, agendas and combined global political and financial power serve to fuel the fire of those with wild imaginations. But in reality, much of group think, governmental policies and world events seem to fall in line with the Bilderberg agenda. There are also overlapping secret societies that muster globalist muscle of similar fame--Freemasons, the Bohemian Club, the Illuminati, the Trilateral Commission. There are also more open globalist promoting societies such as the Council on Foreign Relations and the Carlyle Group.

These organizations are dedicated to controlling the world through a one world order that is favorable to their independent positions. A rival group to these wealthy and influential globalists may well be Islam. The concept of Islam is to take over the world in the name of allah and establish Sharia Law over all the nations which would then submit to this cultic economic and political system disguised as a religion. All of these have one goal in common--world domination. They are dark and evil organizations that manipulate, plot, conspire, and kill, steal and destroy. In that, they have one father in common, satan, who uses them as tools to put people on the path to hell and to usher in his global government.

These conspirators have no authority in the Kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 4:4,5 says, "For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God." Our job is not to be troubled by these sinister forces, but rather as Romans 13:12 says, "cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." There is a lot written in the Bible about the Lord's people being of light and not darkness. So as the forces of darkness gather, let us let our light scatter them.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Obama's Broken Promises

During the legislative battle to pass ObamaCare, Obama repeatedly reassured the American people that under his plan they could keep their current health plan if they liked it.

Conservatives warned that such promises defied common sense because the legislation provided perverse incentives for businesses to drop healthcare coverage, which would force more and more Americans to be dependent on big government. Of course, Obama knows this. Indeed, the whole purpose was to make more Americans dependent on big government.

A new study by a management consulting firm suggests that ObamaCare's conservative critics were right. A survey of 1,300 businesses this year found that "at least 30% of employers" believe they would be better off if they dropped insurance coverage.

That number is likely to grow fast. The survey found that, "Among employers with a high awareness of [ObamaCare], this proportion increases to more than 50 percent, and upward of 60 percent will pursue some alternative . . ."

Here's why: AT&T estimated that it could save nearly $2 billion a year by shifting its health insurance obligations to ObamaCare. Once one company takes the step of freeing itself from the costs of health insurance, other companies will have to follow in order to remain financially competitive. Investors will likely insist on it, leading to an avalanche of businesses dumping their health insurance.

Additionally, the report finds that it "will be economically rational not only for many [businesses] but also for their lower-income employees, given the law's incentives." In other words, as America faces record budget deficits, Obama and his socialist allies have created a massive new entitlement program! (Gary Bauer)

Good News in Tennessee!

Tennessee Lawmakers Vote for Ten Commandments

The Tennessee State House of Representatives has given its unequivocal backing to its county courthouses to display the Ten Commandments.

A resolution was passed 98-0 last week urging "all Tennessee counties to allow the Ten Commandments to be posted in their respective courthouses."

H.R. 107 was authored by Rep. Todd Watson and marks a defiant stand against attempts in recent years to exclude references to Christianity from courthouses across the U.S.

The text of the resolution affirms the special place of the Ten Commandments in American history.
"Throughout America's rich history both the citizenry and their elected officials alike have deeply respected the Ten Commandments, its profound influence on the formation of American legal thought and its fundamental place in the history of law and government."

It is "imperative," it continues, that the Ten Commandments continue to be displayed in public buildings "as reminders to this generation and the next of the vital role of the Ten Commandments and its Author have played in shaping our great republic." (Christian Post) Read more.

Obamacare Challenged in Court

11th Circuit Considers 26-State Suit Challenging Health Care Law

Obama's health care reform law returned to federal court today, this time before a panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The hearing comes less than a month after a separate appeal was heard at the 4th Circuit. Both cases are expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court, possibly together.

Today, acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal defended the health care law against a lawsuit brought by 26 states. In January, a federal judge in Florida ruled in favor of the states and threw out the whole law as unconstitutional.

Katyal argued that the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution allows Congress to regulate health insurance -- and even require people to purchase health insurance.

Former Solicitor General Paul Clement, who is representing the 26 states, disagreed. "For 220 years, Congress never saw fit to use this particular power," he said.

According to news reports, the panel of three judges seemed receptive to Clement's position. Two of the judges were appointed by President Clinton, and one by President George H.W. Bush.

John Stemberger, a civil trial lawyer in Orlando and the president of the Florida Family Policy Council, said the health care law is clearly an overreach by the government. "If the government can require us to purchase something as significant as health care," he said, "goodness knows what else they could do in the future. "It's also a violation of state sovereignty because of the fact that it requires the states to cooperate with this scheme and to basically buy into it."

Taliban Terror Alert

Taliban Leader Vows to Hit U.S. Targets Outside Pakistan

by IPT News - June 6, 2011

A top Taliban commander pledged that his group will avenge the death of Osama bin Laden by attacking U.S. targets outside of Pakistan.

"Our war against America is continuing inside and outside of Pakistan," said Taliban commander Omar Khalid Khorasani in a video sent to Reuters. "When we launch attacks, it will prove that we can hit American targets outside Pakistan."

Since bin Laden was killed in a Pakistani garrison city by a team of U.S. Navy SEALs in early May, attacks by the al-Qaida linked Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), more commonly known as the Pakistani Taliban, has mostly targeted Pakistani security forces - including a Peshawar police station, a Karachi naval base and a paramilitary academy.

"These attacks were just a part of our revenge. God willing, the world will see how we avenge Osama bin Laden's martyrdom," said Khorasani. "We have networks in several countries outside Pakistan," he said.

The Good News Corner:

Presidential prospect leads prayer at conference

Religious conservatives at a weekend conference in Washington heard from five declared Republican presidential candidates and from several others who may soon become candidates.

A member of that second group -- Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann -- closed her remarks to the Faith and Freedom Coalition with a two-minute prayer. In her prayer, Bachmann:

- asked God to forgive America's sin: "Lord, we know there are things that we have done in our nation that have not been pleasing in your sight. Lord, we ask your forgiveness for that. We ask that once again you would turn your face toward us and that you would bless us and empower us to be a blessing to the world."

- asked God to fulfill a biblical promise: "You say in Jeremiah that you have for us a future and a hope. Lord, we ask for that future and that hope, and we confess our own sins, Father, we confess them to you."

- asked God to heal America's brokenness: "Father, we lift it up to you because we want our people to be blessed and to prosper. We want all men to come to know you all across the world. And so Father we pray again for your spirit to come down, to come into this nation."

- asked God to guide America's leaders: "We do pray for our president. We pray for the Supreme Court. We pray for the members of Congress. We pray for those who are in authority. Because this is not a political scorecard; this is about the very life and future of our nation." Finally, she prayed: "Our nation hangs precariously in the balance financially, morally and also in our relationship with the rest of the world -- with our position toward Israel." -- Offer praise for this good report, as well as yesterday's report about Governor Perry calling the nation to a national day of prayer and fasting. As leaders in our civil government, in repentance, begin to publicly align themselves with the will of God in Kingdom government, only blessings will then begin to fall upon our people. Praise God!
