The Daily Brief - Tuesday, December 29, 2009

"And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age . . ." (Matthew 28:20)

Today's Daily Brief

1. House Backers of Public Insurance Option May Yield - AP

Two House Democrats who favor a government insurance plan, a central element of health care legislation passed in their chamber, acknowledged Sunday it might have to be sacrificed as negotiators work out a final agreement with the Senate.

Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, the No. 3 Democrat in the House and one who had appealed to Hussein Obama not to yield on the public plan, set out conditions for yielding himself.

Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland said, "Before the House was to give up the public option, we would want to be persuaded that there are other mechanisms in whatever bill comes out that will keep down premiums.''

- Lord we ask that You will begin to press hard on the hearts of members of Congress as they finalize the bill from both House and Senate. We ask that Your will be accomplished over what has been a horrendously divisive battle. We place our trust in You, not in our government, and ask Your healing mercy over America.

- "'Those who plunder you shall become plunder, and all who prey upon you I will make a prey. For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,' says the Lord." (Jeremiah 30:16b-17a)

2. A) U.S. quietly takes terror war to Yemen - NY Times

In the midst of two unfinished major wars, the United States has quietly opened a third, largely covert front against Al Qaeda in Yemen.

B) Yemen: Hundreds of Militants Planning Attacks -- Fox News

Up to 300 Al Qaeda members plotting strikes from Yemen similar to failed Christmas Day bombing, official says.

- Lord we thank You that our leaders have seen the dangers in Yemen. But we also pray that those who fight will not be stretched too thin, whether covert special forces or regular troops. Lord may You be the leader and rear guard of our warriors in all areas of this battle against terror.

- "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7)

3. Critical Security Agencies Lack Permanent Leaders -- AP

Two federal agencies charged with keeping potential terrorists off airplanes and out of the country have been without their top leaders for nearly a year. It took the Obama administration more than eight months to nominate anyone to lead the Transportation Security Administration and the Customs and Border Protection agency.

- Lord as this administration has constantly failed to wisely vet their choices for positions, we ask that You choose the men and/or women for our critical security agencies and place them quickly. Lord, be the protector of our nation in the breaches.

- "Remember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people. Oh, visit me with Your salvation, that I might see the benefit of Your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation." (Psalm 106:5)

4. Putin: Russia to develop offensive weapons to keep balance with U.S. - CNN

Russia needs to develop "offensive strike systems" to preserve strategic balance with the United States, without producing its own missile defense, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Tuesday. Putin's comment, made at a press briefing in the far eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, echoed a similar call from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last week.

- Lord we thank You for this heads up from the mouths of the Russian leaders. We pray that our leadership will take this seriously, pay attention, and act wisely toward any subterfuge by the government of Russia.

- "But I will sing of Your power; yes I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge in the day of trouble." (Psalm 59:16)

5. Iran Accuses West of Instigating Violent Protests - AP

Iran on Tuesday accused Western countries of fomenting deadly anti-government protests in the capital this week and said it was summoning Britain's ambassador to file a complaint.

- Lord we ask that You grant victory to the anti- government groups in Iran until the dictators are removed and a moderate, democratic government takes its place. We pray for the souls of the people of Iran, and the protection of the underground church.

- "I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible." (Jeremiah 15:21)

6. North Korea Says it has Detained American - AP

North Korea announced Tuesday that it has custody of an American who entered the country illegally on Christmas Eve - first possible word from Pyongyang about a 28-year-old Arizona man who activists say sneaked into the reclusive country to raise international attention to its dire human rights situation.

- Ask the Lord for protection over this young man. Whether or not this was a wise decision, may it bring light into darkness for the suffering people of North Korea.

- "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"[Yeshua], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took on Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men . . ." (Philippians 2:6-7)

1. Netanyahu: No more excuses - time is ripe for Mideast peace - Ha'aretz

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that the "conditions are ripe" for renewing peace negotiations with the Palestinians, adding that he planned to raise the issue with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak during his visit to Cairo this week.

2. Fatah warns of intifada against PA - Jerusalem Post

The killing of the three Fatah operatives in Nablus by the IDF over the weekend could trigger a third intifada, Fatah officials warned on Sunday.

3. PM: Livni is 'serial unity refuser' - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday evening called Kadima party leader Tzipi Livni "a serial unity refuser," after her party unanimously rejected his offer to join a national unity government.

4. Shin Bet chief: Shalit deal won't topple Abbas - Ynet News

In a conference held at the Foreign Ministry on Monday, which was attended by Israeli ambassadors, Diskin said that while a deal with Hamas for the release of captive soldier Gilad Shalit would serve as a slap in the face to the Palestinian president, he does not believe it would topple his regime.

5. Barak: Qom immune to regular strike - Jerusalem Post

Iran's recently-revealed uranium enrichment site at Qom "has been under construction for years, and is hidden in bunkers which are immune to a regular strike," Defense Minister Ehud Barak told the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday.

- Father, there is nothing hidden from You, nor is anything invulnerable to Your power. We pray that You will intervene to destroy any and all nuclear weapons created by Iran.

- "But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions." ( Obadiah 17)

Whose Fault?

ABC is reporting that two of the jihadist leaders behind the Northwest Airlines bomb plot were formerly Guantanamo prisoners who were released in November 2007. Before the day is over, Obama operatives and their media allies will be blaming George Bush for the Christmas Day plot.

Nice try - but no sale. During Bush's second term, every liberal senator including [Hussein] Obama was demanding that Guantanamo prisoners be put on trial or released. Liberal courts sniped at every step the Bush Administration took to deal with the "GITMO" prisoners. The ACLU and big media complained that the prisoners were being denied their rights. Steps taken to get information from the prisoners were condemned as torture. There were more negative stories about the U.S. soldiers guarding these thugs than about the thugs themselves. Liberal Illinois Senator Dick Durbin compared GITMO and our military prisons to a Nazi facility.

In that atmosphere, the Bush Administration started allowing limited releases from GITMO of prisoners they felt were least dangerous. At the same time, President Bush warned that some released prisoners had already gone back to the battlefield against the U.S. We were critical of the releases but also understood that it was a response to liberal pressure.

Now let's fast forward to today. Obama took office and his first official act was to sign an order to close GITMO, releasing as many prisoners as possible and bringing the rest to the U.S., where they would be granted all the rights of our Constitution. For the last year, Obama has fought to implement his plan in spite of all the evidence that he will make us less safe by doing so.

Now read this and weep. ABC is reporting that just this weekend the number of prisoners at GITMO dropped to fewer than 200 because Hussein Obama transferred a dozen jihadist suspects to the governments of Yemen, Afghanistan and Somali. Meanwhile, other GITMO prisoners are getting their attorneys for the circus trials that will be held in New York as the result of another Obama decision. Finally it was Hussein Obama's administration that failed to keep an obviously high-risk individual from boarding the Northwest Christmas flight. That failure almost cost hundreds of lives.

The Hussein Obama Administration has one tune in its repertoire. It's called "Blame Bush." But it won't fly this time, as we become less safe with each passing day.

Christmas Day Terrorist Plot Exposes Need For Change in US Policy

The UK Sun is reporting that there are at least five groups of five British-born terrorists that have been training in Yemen similar to the recent terrorist who tried to blow up a Christmas day Northwest airlines flight using explosives in his underwear. This report indicates that the al Qaeda cells in Britain are alive and well and are patiently training for multiple attacks. The article also claimed that these 25 terrorists were educated at universities, studying engineering and computer science. But the most interesting revelation is that the Sun reports these terrorists were "radicalized" in British mosques.

This is a clear indication that mosques, under the cover of religious freedom in nations that are traditionally comprised of Christians, are being used as centers teaching radical Islamic views and encouraging terrorism. It is a basic tenet of the Christian faith that man has free will to choose Christ as his personal savior. Derived from that principle is freedom of religion. Christians are called to evangelize, but Christianity does not force its belief system upon others. They are free to choose. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Freedom to choose, freedom from sin, freedom to worship are hallmarks of Christianity.

This is not lost on the false religion of Islam. In fact, Islam is using the religious freedom clause in free societies to colonize them and to spread within them its network of tyranny and terror. The Muslim Brotherhood put forth a strategy document in May 1991 for settlement of North America. The document states that "In order for Islam and its Movement to become "a part of the homeland" in which it lives...the Movement must plan and struggle to obtain "the keys" and the tools of this process in carrying out this grand mission as a "Civilization Jihadist" responsibility which lies on the shoulders of Muslims and - on top of them - the Muslim Brotherhood in this country."

The plan later identifies building Islamic Centers in every city as a means to put words into action. Islamic centers, according to the plan, are the center of all activity in a community from sports to battalion to education to political resolution. The mosque would serve as the holy motivator. This strategy is playing out in both the UK and America. For example, Investors Business Daily reported December 17 the results of an investigative story entitled "The Pentagon: Muslim Spies Setting Muslim Policy." The story documents extremist Muslims in high level Pentagon positions who are undermining military policy. The US must identify Islam as a political system rather than a religion otherwise there will be dire consequences.

The Daily Jot (Part Two)

The Prophecy of Ishmael and The Christmas Terrorist Attempt

Hats off to the brave and decisive passengers of the Northwest flight 253 who subdued and thwarted the terrorist attack of al Qaeda trained Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab who tried to blow up the plane 20 minutes before it landed in Detroit. Their quick action and the terrorist's incompetence saved 278 lives. The incident served as a stern reminder of the specter of Islamic terrorism despite the man who occupies the Oval Office declaring a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world; one based upon mutual interest and mutual respect.. and share common principles - principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."

Moreover, the attempted attack shows that Islam continues to probe ways to kill Americans and wreck terrorism even though it is more difficult under current security efforts. Even more important there are glaring questions as to why terrorists like Abdulmutallab slip through security. According to news reports, Abdulmutallab's father reported him to authorities because of radical religious beliefs. Abdulmutallab was on the Department of Homeland Security's "terror watch" list, but not on the "no fly" list. Security officials in other countries are wondering why Abdulmutallab even has a current visa. This terrorist nearly pulled off a massacre on one of the most holy of Christian holidays.
Another terrorist, Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 US soldiers at Ft Hood in November, also slipped through the Homeland Security cracks. Hasan was openly radical. On Wednesday, Al-Jazeera's Arabic-language website published an interview with Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Aulaqi, who said he and Hasan communicated by email for over a year about the permissibility of killing US soldiers and Israeli civilians. According to AFP, the interview offered "insight into how early Hasan was thinking about the possibility of attacking fellow service members." Aulaqi is a US-born cleric who had met Hasan nine years ago at the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Washington, DC.

That an American president might offer peaceful dialogue with Islam is no guarantee that terrorism against American Christians and Jews will stop. It is more likely that the overtures toward Islam are seen as signs of weakness and are incentives for increased terrorism and accelerated colonization of America through such strategies as Islamic centers. Islam is an enemy to what is good and right--a sworn enemy of Jews and Christians. Genesis 16:12 reveals the prophecy of Ishmael, the father of Islam--"And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." We have over 5,000 years of history proving this as true.

15,000 Youth Gather in Kansas City IHOP

Cry Out to God for REVIVAL in our Nation!

Just when it looks like we are without hope, here comes God . . .

We are delighted to share this GOOD NEWS with you tonight that, as we write this report to you, 15,000 of our nation's youth are now gathered at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO for a four-day conference: the "ONE THING CONFERENCE."

One Thing '09, 12/28-31/09, is based upon the verse in Luke 10:38 - 42:
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
"Father, we REPENT that we so often allow the distractions of the world to hinder our own worship of YOU -- keeping our gaze fixed firmly upon the ONE THING -- the Author and the Finisher of our Faith."

"We rejoice, Lord, that You are raising up a generation that has been graced with this deep hunger to know YOU, and You only, the One Thing. We ask for that same move of divine grace to invade our own lives, as adults! In Your Name we ask this prayer, amen."
