The Daily Brief - Thursday, March 5, 2009

"The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light." ( Romans 13:12)

The Daily Brief

1. Gay Activists Rally Ahead of California Showdown - AP

Advocates on both sides of the gay marriage issue gathered outside California's highest court Thursday, holding signs and shouting slogans. The large crowd demonstrated as justices prepared to hear arguments on lawsuits seeking to overturn the state's voter-approved ban on same-sex nuptials.

• Father we continue to pray for righteousness in our nation, and ask that this California ban be retained! The media never reports the TRUTH: there were MANY more intercessors with us today, than gay activists on the ground. Thank You, Lord!

" . . . that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:15)

-- Please "stay tuned" for further developments in this critical case in California.

2. Democrats Move to Crush Dissent on Spending Bill - Newsmax.com

A close vote is expected late this week to advance the sweeping spending bill, which wraps together the budgets for 12 Cabinet departments and other agencies, to President Barack Obama. The White House promises to sign it despite unhappiness over the 8,000 or so home state pet projects it contains.

Democrats and their allies control 58 seats in the Senate, but 60 votes will be needed to close debate and free the measure for Obama's desk.

• Lord, we humbly ask that You stop this bill from destroying our nation's financial future. We pray that good men and women will strand strong against the willful spending on projects not of Your choosing. Raise up righteousness, wisdom, and understanding in our leaders!

"When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil." (Proverbs 2:10,11)

3. GM Nearly Bankrupt Despite Billions in Taxpayer Loans - Newsmax.com

General Motors Corp.'s auditors have raised "substantial doubt" about the troubled automaker's ability to continue operations, and the company said it may have to seek bankruptcy protection if it can't execute a huge restructuring plan.

• Father we ask the You would speak to the leaders of GM about their obviously poor financial decisions. We thank you that greed will never be successful in financial matters, but we pray that You remember mercy in the correction of their ways.

"O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years! In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2)

4. United States rejoins U.N. rights council - USA Today

The United States returned Wednesday to the U.N. Human Rights Council, a body it left nine months ago saying it was biased against Israel and had failed to confront notorious rights abusers.

• Lord as nations continue to line up against Your beloved Israel, we ask that You reveal Your Holy arm in battle against the plots to harm her. We repent for the actions of our leaders, and ask that You visit us with mercy and conviction of sin rather than wrath.

"Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall now that I am the Lord." (Ezekiel 38:23)

5. Russian Scholar Says US Will Collapse Next Year - ABC News

If you're inclined to believe Igor Panarin, and the Kremlin wouldn't mind if you did, then President Barack Obama will order martial law this year, the U.S. will split into six rump-states before 2011, and Russia and China will become the backbones of a new world order.

• Father, we take authority over this curse and rebuke it in the Name of Jesus. We reverse the words of this man spoken to the world, and send them back upon their own heads. We speak life to America! We rejoice that Your will over America will prevail.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21)

6. Chavez Orders Expropriation of America Rice Plant - AP

President Hugo Chavez ordered the expropriation of a rice-processing plant in Venezuela owned by American food giant Cargill Inc. on Wednesday because the company allegedly was not distributing rice at prices imposed by the government.

• Father we ask Your mighty protection from this form of theft for American interests around the world, as well as in Venezuela. We ask that US companies will have the wisdom to know how to remove themselves from state control by repressive governments.

" . . . Every thief shall be expelled . . ." (Zechariah 5:3)

THE MIRACLE BABY IN ITAGUAI, MALAWI, SOUTHERN AFRICA

[Editorial comment: this report was sent to us by a highly respected source in Africa. So far, Snopes is not listing this as either true or false. No matter what, there seems to be a stirring now in Itaguai, Malawi, and for that very reason we give thanks today . . . and we report this GOOD NEWS to you!]

In the public hospital of Limpopo last weekend was born a girl with hands joined together, like one who's praying.

The doctors told the parents that they would operate the hands of that girl, and that they would give her anesthetic.

The operation was easy because it seemed like the hands were simply glued together, one membrane (skin) layer apart.

When they opened up the hands of that child, you can't imagine what was written . . .

JESUS IS COMING BACK . . .

The doctors started weeping as did all those who were in the hospital.

The suburb of Itaguaí is undergoing a movement now, People that have withdrawn from church are going back and others are receiving Jesus Christ as the only savior. God sent that child simply to convey that message.

After a few hours the baby died.

JESUS IS COMING BACK!!!
