The Daily Brief - Tuesday, November 1, 2011

"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction,
and there are many who enter through it." (Matthew 7:13)

The Daily Brief

1. Libya's Prime Minister Confirms Presence of Chemical Weapons - Fox News

Libya's interim prime minister has confirmed the presence of chemical weapons in Libya and says foreign inspectors would arrive later this week to deal with the issue. Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril said Sunday that Libya has no interest in keeping such weapons. In August, Fox News interviewed Rep. Mike Rogers, R.-Mich., who said he saw a chemical weapon stockpile in the country during a 2004 trip. At the time, he said the U.S. was concerned about "thousands of pounds of very active mustard gas." He also said there is some sarin gas that is unaccounted for. Read more.

- Lord, we are thankful for the finding of these chemical weapons, and for the leader saying they have no interest in keeping them. We pray other stockpiles will be exposed and disposed of in the best way, such as the missing sarin gas. Your word says what is hidden will be brought to light. We pray for hidden deception to be exposed, and this leader and others will come to the knowledge of Jesus being the truth and the light. We pray that the body of Christ would come to the full power of warfare. Help us to know our battle for today and to hear Your instructions. In the name of Jesus we pray.

- For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

2. Anonymous Threatens Mexico's Murderous Drug Lords - Wired.com

In a video uploaded Oct. 6, an Anonymous spokesperson said that unless the Zetas release one of the group's members, the group will reveal the photos, names and addresses of Zetas-affiliated cops and taxi drivers. (The member was allegedly kidnapped in the western coastal city of Veracruz during an "Operation Paperstorm" demonstration.) Anonymous also threatened to out journalists accused of "hitting on honest authorities like the army and the navy," the spokesperson said.

- Since You are a God of justice, Lord, we ask for your righteousness and justice to come and intervene in Mexico's drug cartels. We pray for godly wisdom in handling the situation of releases. Lord, we also pray for protection of innocent and honest people. Lord, only You know the details and what should be done. We pray these decisions by the leadership may be right and just.

- The Lord executes righteousness and justice to all who are oppressed. (Psalm 103:6)

3. US fears unilateral Israeli strike on Iran - YnetNews.com

The United States is working on several levels to pressure the UN's Security Council into imposing harsher sanctions on Iran, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday. A senior US State Department official said there is growing fear among Obama administration officials ahead of an IAEA report indicating considerable progress in Tehran's development of its military nuclear program which is set to be published in November.

- Lord, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the protection of Israel. We pray wisdom for the U.S. leadership and the UN Security Council in decisions concerning Israel and Iran. We pray the U.S. will continue to stand with Israel. Thank you that the U.S. has cut off some of the funds to the UN due to the recent vote to allow Palestine a full voice in one of their agencies. May there be protection from any harmful nuclear program being developed. Peace to Israel. In the name of our Savior, Jesus, we pray.

- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you." (Psalm 122:6-8)

4. Report: US Plans Post-Iraq Buildup in Gulf - Voice of America

The United States is negotiating with Kuwait to allow American combat troops to be based in the Persian Gulf area after completing the announced withdrawal from Iraq by the end of this year. The report says the talks are part of U.S. plans to boost its military presence in the Gulf so the United States is able to respond quickly in the event of a collapse of security in Iraq or a military confrontation with Iran.

- As the United States liberated Kuwait, may Kuwait's leadership give the Unites States whatever is needed to provide protection in that area. Be with the leadership in both countries that the right decisions will be made. We pray that people will come to realize their only real protection is in You, the Creator, and that the victory is won in Your name.

- No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield, for our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in you. (Psalm 34:16-22)

5. Israel archaeologists say find 1,400-year-old Christian relic - Haaretz

Israeli archaeologists said Sunday they have found a tiny 1,400-year-old relic of Christian faith among the remains of an ancient road in Jerusalem. The finding, an exquisitely made 2 centimeter by 1.5 centimeter box of bone with a cross carved on the lid, was likely carried by a Christian believer around the end of the 6th century A.D.

- Lord, we are thankful for this discovery that supports Your word. We believe and trust in You and Your word, and in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

- Blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear. (Matthew 13:16)

The Daily Jot

The Chosen Generation

I listened from the gallery to my friend and President Ronald Reagan deliver his 2nd Inaugural Address, January 21, 1985: "The time has come for a new American emancipation-a great national drive to tear down economic barriers and liberate the spirit of enterprise in the most distressed areas of our country. My friends, together we can do this, and do it we must, so help me God...If not us, who? And if not now, when? It must be done by all of us going forward..." The election of 1984 was affirmation that Reagan's economic policies and his bully pro-American, pro-moral agenda was working. He was reversing the policies of the failed socialist agenda of Jimmy Carter, which left the nation in an economic and foreign policy abyss.

The 2010 election was also a referendum on a socialist agenda--a referendum that rejected outright and with force the failing policies of the counter-American. Yet, these soldiers of socialism, who were kicked out of office for their dastardly deeds that left our nation economically bankrupt, came back and worked more of their evil in a lame duck session. Some of those who were re-elected surely did not get the message. We as a nation still have leadership that wishes to remake America into a socialist, perhaps even communist, so-called democracy. More czars, more power grabs, more spending, more laws that are made but never read, more freedoms taken away through laws and regulations.

In the past, Americans have always rebounded by standing against such tyranny, such evil. Washington led his soldiers in prayer. Lincoln called for a day of fasting and prayer, saying he didn't wonder if God was on America's side, but rather was America on God's side. It is time, as Reagan so eloquently said, that the move away from this godless society must be done by all of us going forward. The battle really isn't about socialism or communism or tyranny. Those are just results of the battle. The battle is over the souls of our fellow citizens. If they knew and understood what was right, they would act on it. But as the scriptures ask, "How shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?"

The Apostle Peter prophesied in 1 Peter 2:9, "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar (God's own) people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." Verse 12 says, "Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.", We are the royal priests that are to lead the people of our nation into the light...we need to "Speak boldly as we ought to speak" and "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The U.N.'s Anti-Israel Bias

The United Nation's anti-Israel bias is nothing new. But here's the latest example. In an interview last week, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas was asked about the status of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Here was his response:

"First of all, let me make something clear about the story of the 'Jewish state.' They started talking to me about the 'Jewish state' only two years ago, discussing it with me at every opportunity, every forum I went to -- Jewish or non-Jewish -- asking: 'What do you think about the 'Jewish state'?' I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I will never recognize the Jewishness of the state, or a 'Jewish state.'"

So, once again, the Palestinian leadership is denying the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state while demanding the creation of yet another radical Islamic state. Let's not fool ourselves. Were "Palestine" to come into existence tomorrow, it will not be a model of tolerance and democracy. It will devolve into "Hamastan" in no time at all -- just as the mullahs control Iran, as the Muslim Brotherhood is about to control Egypt and as the Islamists are promising Sharia law in Libya.

And what was the response at the United Nations to Abbas' rejection of Israel's right to exist? Yesterday it rewarded him by granting "Palestine" membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The vote was overwhelming -- 107-to-14 with 52 abstentions. Ironically, UNESCO says its mission is to "contribute to the building of peace" based upon the observance of "human rights" and "mutual respect."

For the past two years, the Obama Administration has repeatedly lectured us about the importance of these international organizations and working with the "world community." Fortunately for Israel, we are almost one year away from the elections. Under pressure, the Administration cut off funding for UNESCO, which gets 22% of its budget from the U.S. (Gary Bauer)

More OWS Extremism

More OWS Extremism If you needed more evidence of the nuttiness that is running rampant within the Occupy Wall Street movement, our friends at The Weekly Standard have it. They have posted a video of OWS protestors blaming Israel for 9/11. It didn't take long before chants of "Free Palestine" could be heard along with "Occupy Wall Street."

These extremists have turned reality on its head. To them the Jews are the enemy, the Islamists are the victims, socialism is good and capitalism and America are evil. And this is the movement that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and so many Democrats rushed to embrace. (Gary Bauer)

Moslems Flock to Mecca; Prayer Needed

"Praying Through the Arabian Peninsula" Ministry
Calls for Prayer During Hajj

INTRODUCTION:

This is a call for Christians to pray November 4 - 7, 2011! The Hajj, one of the five pillars of the Islamic religion, begins on the 8th day of the 12th month of Dhul Hijjah of the Islamic calendar. Because the calendar is based on the moon's cycle, the Hajj begins nine days earlier each consecutive year. In 2011, the Hajj will start on November the 4th and last for 3-4 days. During this time, Muslims from all over the world will flock to Mecca to perform the rituals and follow the steps of Muhammad, their prophet.

The website for "Praying Through the Arabian Peninsula" (PTAP) Ministry, including more information on the Hajj, is here.

PAP offers several prayer resources on their site, including prayer guides and a video teaching about the Hajj.

We quote from their site:

Hajj 2011 - November 4-7 Please go to the PTAP web site and find the Hajj 2011 prayer information. This is a very strategic time to be praying for Muslims as they travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia to seek forgiveness of their sins. We ask that you might challenge others around you and your church to pray during this time. We are seeing many changes in the Muslim world right now, and may we continue to be faithful to pray. Some people will also take a day to pray and fast during these days. On the web site you will find four pages of PDF prayer information and a video you can download.

ALERT!

October 26, 2011

Growing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran threaten war.

The Hajj annual pilgrimage in which millions of Muslims converge on Mecca in Saudi Arabia is threatening to become a flashpoint.

Pilgrims have already begun arriving, expected to peak in the second week of November.

Both Saudi Arabia and Iran regards itself as the leader of its wing of Islam. The US troop withdrawal from Iraq will create a power vacuum that tempts both Iran and Saudi Arabia. (Jerusalem Post) Read more.

Forbes' Bipartisan Resolution Reaffirming National Motto 'In God We Trust' Passes House of Representatives

Washington, D.C. - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04), Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, has released the following statement upon the House of Representatives' passage by a vote of 396 - 9 of his bipartisan resolution reaffirming 'In God We Trust' as the official national motto of the United States:

"In 1956, at the time of the United States Congress' adoption of 'In God We Trust' as our nation's official motto, Senator Holland (D-FL) argued that 'it will be of great spiritual and psychological value to our country to have a clearly designated national motto of inspirational quality.' In the decades since the 84th Congress promulgated 'In God We Trust' as our official national motto, a growing, disturbing pattern of inaccuracy and omissions regarding the motto has arisen in the public square from speeches made by the President of the United States in foreign nations, to the sanitization of 'In God We Trust' from the half-billion dollar Capitol Visitor Center by American historians. Today, as in other times of division and difficulty in our nation's history, the House of Representatives again reaffirmed 'In God We Trust' as our official motto and in so doing, provided clarity amidst a cloud of confusion about our nation's spiritual heritage and offered inspiration to an American people that face challenges of historic proportion."

--We praise the LORD for this vote by a STRONG MAJORITY -- almost UNANIMOUS -- of all the members of the House of Representatives today, strongly declaring 'IN GOD WE TRUST!'
