The Daily Brief - Monday, February 28, 2011

" . . . you are my refuge in the day of disaster." (Jer. 17:17b)

The Daily Brief

1. Farrakhan: Mideast uprisings will come to US - Chicago Tribune

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

- Cancel any violence and uprisings in the USA, predicted, plotted, and prepared. Does Mr. Farrakhan, never a prophet, know something the general public does not? Does the FBI? Pray that the Moslem world rejects any offers from the Nation of Islam for help in these predicted uprisings. Cancel the words of Louis Farrakhan, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

- " . . . all unrighteousness shuts its mouth." (Psalm 107:42b)

2. Economists' biggest worry: Federal budget deficit - CNN

Government deficits are the biggest long-term worry of top U.S. economists, according to a survey released Monday.

- How good it is to know that economists are concerned about our deficits as well as the people of the USA, many of whom have started to tighten their belts and spend more wisely. While we know that Mr. Obama has his own agenda, pray that he will stop asking for more spending for our nation. Ask the Lord to cancel any unnecessary, wasteful use of taxpayers' funds that Mr. Obama incurs - like flying around the country campaigning before 2012 is even on the calendar. The Lord is able to deal with our nation's debts if we let Him.

- "Since You are [our] rock and [our] fortress, Therefore, for Your Name's sake, lead [us] and guide [us]." (Psalm 31:3)

3. Church group blasts Obama for abandoning Defense of Marriage Act - AP

Large coalition of 34,000 black churches condemns Obama's stand on DOMA

A coalition of 34,000 black churches is blasting President Barack Obama's decision to stop defending the federal law that bans recognition of gay marriage. The Rev. Anthony Evans, who heads the National Black Church Initiative, says Obama "has violated the Christian faith" by failing to uphold Jesus' teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman. The Justice Department announced Wednesday that, at Obama's direction, it would not defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act in a court case where it's being challenged. As a result, Evans says black churches must "reassess their extraordinary support for him." White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says Obama is still "grappling" with his personal views on gay marriage but has long opposed the federal law as unnecessary and unfair.

- Sing praises of thanksgiving to the Lord for this stand being taken by the coalition of black churches. The president must decide where he stands - with God or with politics. Please pray that Mr. Obama chooses God's way and tells the Justice Department and Attorney General Eric Holder to rescind any statement that violates DOMA.

- "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." (Genesis 2:24)

4. Libyan rebels fight back military, shoot down aircraft - Jerusalem Post

Opponents of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi have held off an attack by pro-government forces near the town of Misrata and shot down a military aircraft, a witness told Reuters on Monday.

- Praise the Lord for the spirit of freedom that He has put into the souls of all of us! Should the USA do more than scold Gaddafi for his terrorism against his own people? Please pray for the safety and protection of the Libyan people as they try to overthrow the bonds of their dictator. Pray that someone will have Gaddafi's ear long enough to tell him that murder is evil and that trying to hang onto power will not gain him any place in paradise. Pray for Gaddafi's soul.

- "God is the refuge and strength [of the Libyan people], a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

5. Libyan Leaders Defiant as U.N. Security Council Clamps Down, U.S. Calls for Qaddafi's Exit - Fox News

The Obama administration will offer "any type of assistance" Libyans seeking to oust Muammar al-Qaddafi need, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Sunday before jetting off to Geneva for talks with diplomats about establishing a unified front against the dictator.

- Although President George W. Bush was mocked for calling for democracy in the world during his second inaugural speech, the Obama administration has been forced to follow suit in helping the countries of the world find democratic principles. Pray that the words of the Secretary of State quoted above are not rhetoric but will be put into action. Pray and ask the Lord to raise up a righteous leader for the people of Libya. Pray!

- "The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but He loves him who follows righteousness." (Proverbs 15:9)

6. South Korea-US drills begin despite North Korean threat - BBC

Large-scale military exercises involving American and South Korean troops have begun, prompting North Korea to threaten "all-out war". The training drills are held every year and commanders insist they are purely defensive. But talks between North and South Korea aimed at easing tensions between the two countries broke down recently.

- Pray that this nasty warning from North Korea is merely rhetoric full of bluster and bullying but without any action. Decree that this foolish but dangerous leader of North Korea will very soon be retired from his position and that a leader who knows the Lord will be installed in that sad country. Place a prayer blanket over all those involved in the military drills.

- "Rise up, O Judge of the earth; Render punishment to the proud. Lord, how long will the wicked , how long will the wicked triumph?" (Psalm 94:2,3)

1. Russian missiles could be passed on to Hezbollah - Jerusalem Post

The Defense Ministry issued a statement Saturday regarding publications that Russia intends to complete a deal to transfer cruise missiles to Syria. "This deal was signed two years ago and has been in the process of implementation for some time, despite Israel's appeals to Russia regarding the matter."

2. Report: IDF injured two in Gaza attack - Ynet News

IDF artillery fire at Gaza's airport Monday morning caused at least one injury, Palestinian sources reported. The IDF responded that forces had identified a terror cell responsible for a number of previous attacks against Israel.

3. Barak: Assad ready to consider Israel-Syria peace deal - Ha'aretz

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Monday that Syrian President Bashar Assad is prepared to consider a peace agreement with Israel.

The Daily Jot

When Lawlessness Abounds:

Obama's Admirer Predicts Revolution at Your Door

Nation of Islam Leader Lois Farrakhan delivered his four hour annual "Savior's Day" speech to followers in Chicago on Sunday. The Chicago Tribune reports that Farrakhan told his followers that revolution is imminent in America: "What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt ... Libya, in Bahrain ... what you see happening there ... you'd better prepare because it will be coming to your door," The Tribune said Farrakhan delivered the prediction in a booming voice, with thousands of followers cheering in response. Farrakhan called on the current president to allow protesters to march, urging the him not to attack innocent people when they do.

Farrakhan is an admitted admirer of the current president, calling him at one time the "Messiah." So when Farrakhan, a long time radical and considered by many a racist toward caucasians, says there is going to be a Middle East style revolution in the United States, more than Homeland Security should take notice. Labor Unions--translated socialist activists--in Wisconsin already have started this protest movement over a financially troubled state wanting public employees to pay their fair share of health insurance. Duly elected legislators have gone into hiding to block legislation that mandates the cuts. In other words, they are violating their oath of office to side with those who wish to undermine the "democratic" process.

This is also occurring from the White House, who not only is supporting the Wisconsin protests, but also has gone against the democratic process and is breaking the law. The White House has said it will no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act, defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. The White House has ignored court decisions that the socialist healthcare law is unconstitutional and is proceeding with its implementation. The White House has ignored a court order to allow offshore drilling for oil by refusing to issue permits. Congress voted down a White House proposal for an economic advisory committee, so the president established it by executive order. This list of lawlessness is not a short one.

The Washington Post reported on February 18, that the president's "political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to get thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals." What separates the American experiment in representative government is the rule of law, not the rule of those who shout the loudest. Jesus said of the latter days in Matthew 24:12, "And because lawlessness abounds, the love of many shall wax cold." He is speaking of the lawlessness of sin and iniquity, the non-compliance to God's law. Can you see the parallel to what is coming to your door?

News on the Hill

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:1 - 4 NKJV)

1. Congress eyes deal to avoid govt shutdown - AFP

The US Congress faces a looming deadline this week to reach agreement on spending to avoid a federal government shutdown that could have chilling consequences for the US economy.

- Continue to pray for the recently completed successes of the House to be adopted in the Senate.

- "The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

2. John Boehner: Debt a 'moral threat' to the country - Politico

The national debt is a "moral threat" to the United States, House Speaker John Boehner said Sunday, an impending peril about which some people are realizing they "better start praying."

3. Boehner rips bid to regulate Internet - Washington Times

House Speaker John A. Boehner lashed out against efforts to regulate Internet traffic before an audience of evangelical Christian media leaders and pointedly responded to Obama by comparing the challenge of the burgeoning national debt to the Sputnik-era space race.

4. Conservatives vow to make gay marriage 2012 issue - CQ

Angered conservatives are vowing to make same-sex marriage a front-burner election issue, nationally and in the states, following the Obama administration's announcement that it will no longer defend the federal law denying recognition to gay married couples.

5. Oversight Committee subpoenas Homeland Security officials - CQ

Legislative Oversight of the Executive Begins

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) issued the subpoenas as part of his committee's probe into the White House's levels of transparency.

6. Thrifty Congressmen Sleeping in Capitol Hill Offices is Not a Scandal
- Christian Coalition of America

Despite the outcry from the liberal wing of the minority party in the House of Representatives and their counterparts in the news media about conservative Members of Congress sleeping in their offices, most Americans admire such frugality. The incessant whining by liberals will not change the sleeping arrangements of these mostly conservative Congressmen.

Press reports have indicated that there are at least 33 members -- 26 Republicans and seven Democrats -- who sleep where they work; apparently no female members sleep in their offices.

7. Speaker Boehner: House Will Defend Marriage - Gary Bauer

As we reported Friday, we have been talking to our friends on Capitol Hill about how to respond to Obama's declaration that the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. I'm pleased to report that Speaker John Boehner is promising that the House will defend traditional marriage.

Speaking to CBN's David Brody this weekend, Boehner denounced Obama's action as "raw politics" and "pandering" to the militant homosexual rights crowd. He added, ". . . if Obama won't lead, if Obama won't defend DOMA, then you'll see the House of Representatives defend our actions in passing a bill that frankly passed overwhelmingly."

At the Gas Pump --

The American Solution To Rising Gas Prices

Gas prices spiked 10 cents last week to a national average of $3.29 a gallon. The Associated Press reports, "That's the highest level ever for this time of year, when prices are typically low." And it's only going to get worse from here. The AP adds, "Since 2000, prices in May have been 52 cents per gallon on average higher than in February." The immediate problem is unrest in the Middle East. Libya is the world's 15th largest oil exporter. The head of Libya's state-run oil company admits that at least half of its production has been shut down, although there are reports today that the flow may increase.

There is an American solution. A new study finds that Alaska could become the world's eighth largest oil producer if only Obama and the radical environmentalists would end their war against America's energy companies and permit more drilling there. (Gary Bauer)

Arabs Call for "Day of Rage"

America's U.N. Veto Outrages Arabs

Sets Up "Day of Rage"

The Obama administration's attempt to have it both ways left Palestinians outraged and Israelis miffed at the American veto of a U.N. Security Council resolution condemning Israeli building on post-1967 lands [West Bank, or Judea and Samaria, and East Jerusalem] on Friday [February 18].

For the Palestinians, the resolution was a litmus test of Obama bona fides as honest broker in the peace process. For the Israelis, it was a test of whether the traditional alliance often typified by America's protection of Israel at the U.N. remains unshakable in practice as well as in rhetoric.

Obama tried until the last possible moment to convince Palestinian Authority [PA] head Mahmoud Abbas to withdraw the resolution, but with no success. Backed by the Arab world, Abbas rejected the American contention that the issue of Israeli building on land it acquired in the 1967 war, which the Palestinians see as the land upon which its state will be built, is properly a matter for direct negotiations rather than third-party forums like the U.N.

Media reports in the region quoted unnamed Palestinian leaders as accusing Obama of "threatening" Abbas, warning of "repercussions" that could include a loss of aid, if the vote were to take place.

Israelis remained angry that their position regarding the legal status of post-1967 land and especially recognition of the difference between land lying within the borders of its capital, Jerusalem, and other land acquired in 1967, is so reflexively dismissed in what they see as a political rather than legal rendering.

. . . One immediate result of the American decision is a "day of rage" called for [in] the West Bank Friday [February 25]. Some fear the demonstration could trigger the sort of protests that have been spreading throughout the Arab world but had not yet reached the Palestinian territories. (Excerpt by The Media Line, February 20, 2011)

[Reported by: Bridges for Peace]

- The Day of Rage is specifically against Obama and America. Pray that no innocent bystanders will be injured. Pray that our Bridges for Peace team remain safe in the midst of turbulent times.

- "Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men, who plan evil things in their hearts; they continually gather together for war." (Psalm 140:1-2)

The Daily Brief - Thursday, February 24, 2011

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." (John 6:27)

The Daily Brief

1. Gadhafi Orders Sabotage to Oil Facilities - Time Magazine

Time magazine's intelligence columnist reported on Tuesday that Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has ordered his security forces to sabotage the country's oil facilities, citing a source close to the government. In a column posted on Time's website, Robert Baer said the sabotage would begin by blowing up pipelines to the Mediterranean. "Among other things, Gadhafi has ordered security services to start sabotaging oil facilities," Baer wrote. "The sabotage, according to the insider, is meant to serve as a message to Libya's rebellious tribes: It's either me or chaos."

The growing violence in Libya has forced a number of oil companies to shut in production in Africa's third-largest oil producer and disrupted flows from the country's export terminals.

Security forces have cracked down fiercely on demonstrators across the country, with fighting spreading to Tripoli after erupting in Libya's oil-producing east last week. As the fighting has intensified some supporters have abandoned Gadhafi.

Baer, a former Middle East CIA officer, said the source told him that as of Monday, Gadhafi had the loyalty of only about 5,000 of the country's 45,000-strong regular army.

Paraphrasing the source, he said that Gadhafi had also ordered the release from prison of the country's Islamist militant prisoners in hopes they would act on their own to sow chaos.

- As Gadhafi continues to rail and become more unstable, pray that God will keep His hand on Libya- to remove the influence of Al-Qaeda and allow true democracy to replace what has been there for so many years. There is only one outcome for this dictator, so pray that the Lord will not only protect the oil fields, but that He will begin to move mightily through the people of Libya.

- "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." (Proverbs 16:18)

2. a) Report: NATO may attack Libya if violence continues - Ynet News

NATO forces may attack forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi if the Libyan air force continues to bomb anti-government protesters, the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi reported Thursday, citing a European official claiming the US had threatened to intervene in the violence.

b) Gaddafi speech was 'code to begin genocide against Libyans' - UK Telegraph

Libya's Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Ibrahim Dabbashi says UN Security Council's statement on Libya "not strong enough" and that genocide is underway in the country.

- Pray that Gadhafi will not be able to destroy his own people, that the Lord will bring an intervention whether by NATO or other means.

- "But all the wicked He will destroy." (Psalm 145: 20b)

3. Saudi National Arrested in Terror Plot - Fox News

The FBI arrests 20-year-old Saudi Arabian college student in Texas suspected of planning a terrorist attack using chemical explosives, allegedly targeting President Bush's Dallas home.

- Lord, we continue to give You praise for the revelation of all plots against the United States and our allies.

- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." (Isaiah 54:17)

4. 4 nuclear sites found in Syria - Ynet News

Syria established four additional nuclear facilities aside from the one bombed by Israel in 2007, the US Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) reported late Wednesday.

- Lord, as we are fully aware of Syria's nuclear agenda, we pray that the leaders of nations see the hidden plans as well and move to stop them. We ask for Your hand of help to prevent disaster not only from Iran but Syria as well.

- "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night - nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday." (Psalm 91:5a,6b)

5. Palestinian FM: Statehood by September - Ynet News

In an interview conducted on eve of UN Security Council vote on a resolution condemning settlement construction, Dr. Riyad Al-Malki, the foreign minister of the Palestinian Authority, spoke to The Media Line about Iranian backing for Hamas, Palestinian statehood on-track for a September declaration and growing international support.

- Lord, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and the protection of Your people as promised in Your Word. We declare Your Lordship over the land of Israel, where Your Blood cries out from the ground and where Your tears over the City soaked into the very soil.

- "The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together;" (Isaiah 40:5a)

6. Wisconsin Assembly Charges Toward Vote on Budget Bill, Senate Remains Stuck - Fox news

Wisconsin Republicans in the state Assembly charged toward a vote on their controversial budget bill Thursday after compelling Democrats to limit debate, though the Senate remained stuck on account of 14 boycotting lawmakers.

- Father, we pray for an end to the lies and twisting of facts by the media in this issue. We ask that reason and wisdom bring a result which is fair and just, as well as helpful to the budget. We pray that all states will move wisely in this matter, that loud voices will not be the answer, but only Your wisdom will prevail.

- "Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backslidings will reprove you. Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing that you have forsaken the Lord your God." (Jeremiah 2:19a)

7. Obama Won't Go to Court Over Defense of Marriage Act - National Journal

Obama now believes that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional and will no longer defend the 15-year-old law in federal court, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.

- Father, we are continually appalled at the actions of this administration, when our leader constantly tells people that he is a Christian, but acts in the opposite of Your precepts. We pray that You would visit Mr. Obama in the night seasons and give him the dreams that will cause him to stop this direction and move toward You.

- "Now a word was secretly brought to me, and my ear received a whisper of it. In disquieting thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake. " (Job 4:12-14a)

The Daily Jot

Prophetic acceleration of national decline and rise of a one world order

In 2002, when the Lord placed it on my heart to write "The Daily Jot", there were probably only one or two events on the national or world stage a month that could be considered "prophetic." Five years later it was perhaps one a week. And as I look at the headlines today, I am seeing that events with prophetic significance are occurring several times a day. We need to be vigilant. We need to have understanding. We need to have discernment. There is fast coming a time when the guidance of the Holy Spirit may not only mean the saving of our personal lives, but also be the God-given opportunity to lead another soul to eternal life. We have to be ready. We have to be awake.

Many of the verses in Daniel and Revelation are difficult to understand. Some are symbolic. Some are literal. Some have been fulfilled. Some have yet to be fulfilled. Of the things that we know, we must be ever alert that, as Jesus warned his disciples in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." In Acts 1:6, Jesus was asked when he would restore the kingdom to Israel. Jesus replied, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

America long has been the nation that has stood in the gap for Israel and has been the block in the breech against the coming one world order. In recent years, America's leadership has become less and less a barrier to the rise of the antichrist and a one world government. Events under this current leadership have exponentially accelerated toward the prophetic end times. There are several events in the news today that have prophetic implications for America and the future of every American. For example, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says that the world should "speak with one voice" with regard to the unrest in Libya, yielding America's sovereignty to a one world order.

Obama says he will no longer defend marriage between a man and a woman in the courts, opening the door for homosexuals to have marriage rights. The president and his political party also are directly supporting labor unrest in several states, pitting Americans against Americans, and undermining our legislative system. One Democratic Massachusetts Congressman said its time "to get out on the streets and get a little bloody." Oil prices have reached $119 on the world market, meaning prices for food and other essentials will inflate. Americans are prevented by their government to drill for oil domestically. We as citizens need to begin standing strong for our nation. Our leaders are incapable of it.

Obama Paves Way For Same-Sex "Marriage"

Just hours ago, Attorney General Eric Holder made a stunning announcement: the Obama Justice Department will no longer defend the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. According to Holder, our imperial president concluded that the law defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman was "unconstitutional" and ordered him to stop defending it in at least two cases currently before the federal courts.

Excuse me? The president is the chief law enforcement officer, not the chief justice! It is not up to Obama to determine which laws he likes and which laws he doesn't. It is his responsibility to enforce the law until the nation's highest court decides the law does not pass constitutional analysis.

But the most left-wing president in history sees things very differently -- he's here to fundamentally transform America, by, among other things, redefining marriage. He ignored public opinion and bent the rules to force healthcare "reform" down our throats. Unable to get cap and trade through the Democrat-dominated Senate last year, Obama now wants the EPA to implement it. And he does not hesitate to ignore the courts either.

The Obama Administration was recently cited for contempt by a federal judge for continuing its deep-water drilling ban, despite a previous order striking it down. Rather than abiding by Judge Vinson's ruling against ObamaCare, the administration is asking the judge to "clarify" his ruling, while it orders states to continue implementing his big government health scheme.

Today's news should put to rest the lie that Obama has moved to the center or that he learned anything from the "shellacking" his party took at the polls. As he rallies his union allies in the streets of Wisconsin, Obama is aligning himself with the most radical elements in the culture war who are trying to redefine normalcy.

I'll have more on this tomorrow, but I have to be honest with you: I'm worried our side has gone back to sleep. Financial support for our political work has dropped significantly since the elections. But the left is energized. Obama suddenly feels free to abandon the law and let the militant homosexual rights movement force same-sex "marriage" on every state in the nation. A liberal Democrat is urging the unions to "get a little bloody" in the streets.

The Tea Party protests have ebbed while the left-wing radicals are fired up. The momentum seems to have shifted back to the left. If we don't mobilize now, 2012 will reverse every gain we made last November. (Gary Bauer)

Obama Forgets The Unemployed

While America continues to struggle with sky-high unemployment rates, Barack Obama is traveling the country touting his record on jobs. But today's Washington Post notes that one group is never represented whenever Obama talks about jobs -- the unemployed.

According to the Post, Obama has met with businesses executives, community college presidents, bankers and others. But in his eight trips around the country since November, Obama has held "no formal meetings with groups of unemployed people or organizations that advocate for them."

If a conservative Republican had such a record, his "disconnect from reality" would be front page news. But now even the left-wing media is starting to ask questions about the party that claims to "look out for the little guy."

I don't think there is any great mystery about what is at work here. (No pun intended.) Obama and his handlers don't want another Velma Hart moment.

Obama doesn't want to be confronted by an unemployed American who asks about his failed stimulus bill, which was supposed to keep the unemployment rate at 8%. He doesn't want to face a student who can't find a job after graduating college. He doesn't want to face a former small businessman whose company went under from his tax hikes and regulations. The only way for these folks to make their voices heard is by protesting outside of one of Obama's jobs forums. (Gary Bauer)

What Libya Means To You

Yesterday we were critical of Obama's relative silence on the increasing violence in Libya. But his silence on a related issue is equally disturbing. The Associated Press reports that oil prices have reached a two-year high. As I write, the price of oil is hovering around $100 a barrel. Meanwhile, the national average for gasoline is nearly $3.20 a gallon. Why?

Libya is the world's 15th largest oil exporter. Time reports today that Qadhafi has issued orders to his security services "to start sabotaging oil facilities." By one estimate, a quarter of Libya's oil production may already be shut down because of the chaos. And this may be just the beginning. There are reports that a "day of rage" is being planned in Saudi Arabia next month.
Once again we are seeing the foolishness of the left's energy policies, which neglect our own resources while leaving America vulnerable to turbulence in the Middle East. In his State of the Union address, President Obama flippantly remarked that "instead of subsidizing yesterday's energy, let's invest in tomorrow's."

How many of you went to work this week in your solar-powered car? I suspect that it's gasoline getting you to work. How many of you are heating your homes this winter with wind power? Not many, but more than 8 million Americans rely on oil to keep their homes warm. I'm all for developing alternatives, including electrification of the auto fleet. But that will take decades. Oil is not "yesterday's energy," it is what drives our economy today. We will need it tomorrow and we will need it for decades to come.

Yet in spite of this reality, the Obama administration has waged a jihad against America's energy producers. From higher taxes to increased regulations and frivolous lawsuits, Obama and his radical allies have made it more and more difficult for American energy companies to do what they are supposed to do -- find and produce the resources that create the energy we need!

As a result, American energy companies are going bankrupt, jobs are being lost and Americans are facing more pain at the pump. So the next time you go to fill up your tank, don't get mad at the oil companies -- blame the liberal politicians and radical environmentalists. (Gary Bauer)

MD, HW Work to Erode Marriage

The Maryland Senate voted 25-22 today in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage. A final vote will be taken Thursday. The House and governor are expected to support the legislation.

"This is about our culture. This is about generations. This is about our children," said Derek McCoy, president of the Association for Maryland Families. "And I think it's fair enough to say that we need to keep marriage the way it's currently defined in this state and not allow one small group to say we want to redefine it for everybody else."

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie is expected to sign legislation today to give the benefits of marriage to same-sex couples. Civil unions would begin Jan. 1, 2012. (CitizenLink)

FRC: Emergency Prayer Vigil

While the odds are against us, FRC President Tony Perkins believes that now is the best opportunity we have had to stop this abuse of both our conscience and tax dollars. Through a series of Planned Parenthood exposes, the veil has been pulled back. We can no longer deny what is happening. We are accountable to pray that our representatives will not turn a blind eye to the women and children who are being exploited.

Planned Parenthood's activities are an affront to our faith, our understanding of what is right and wrong, the dignity of every human being -- born and unborn, Biblical morality as it applies to human sexuality, our God-given parental rights and the sacred jurisdiction and integrity of every family and its God-given responsibility to protect its young, and much, much more. Moreover they are an affront to our Heavenly Father who has conferred on each of us the right to life from the moment of our conception in the womb, especially since we are made in His image and likeness (Ps 139; Gen. 1:26)

Planned Parenthood's lies have been embraced by many decent Americans, including leaders in our federal government. They have an army of dedicated activists who support them, who march, make calls to Congress, and who support candidates who advocate abortion.

This is not just a matter of philosophical, religious, moral education. Spiritual strongholds prevent many hearts from being moved by plain truth regarding abortion and its impact upon the unborn, individuals, families and society.

Only prayer can tear down the spiritual strongholds that have made Planned Parenthood's deadly achievements possible and their acceptance by large numbers of the American people. Only prayer can pull down the strongholds that motivated once pro-life politicians to compromise their faith in God and moral truth, and to abandon any tender compassion for human life -- all for the sake of political ambition.

Prayer Vigil this Friday

Tony is asking pro-life churches, prayer groups, and individuals to help turn the tide by extraordinary prayer over the next few days during this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He is asking pro-life Christians across America to take just one hour to pray outside their Congressman or one of their Senators' state offices this Friday (click HERE to find them). Tony asks that you simply go onsite and to stand vigil in unobtrusive prayer from Noon until 1 PM. Go in a group or go pray alone but go! Help us make sure that there is prayer outside every Representative and Senator's office this Friday. No protest, no signs, no controversy -- just heartfelt prayer.

PRAYER POINTS FOR THIS PRAYER VIGIL:
• Heavenly Father, we appeal to you on behalf of the lost lives of 50,000,000 aborted babies, we appeal to you on behalf of the young mothers, families and a nation harmed by Planned Parenthood. We pray for your people, who have mostly stood by in silence as this has been done. Please forgive us all!
• Raise up an army of praying believers through whom You can pull down the spiritual strongholds and end taxpayer subsidies for this death-dealing industry. May believers gather at the workplaces of our Representatives and Senators in all 50 states. Turn our Senators' hearts and cause them to vote aright. Orchestrate a Concert of Prayer through that Friday noon hour that will please your heart and undo the dark spiritual forces that have prevailed until now. In Jesus name we pray, Amen

Do join us in prayer at noon this coming Friday at the U.S. Senator's office closest to you, and as always, thank you for praying!

Sincerely,
Rev. Pierre Bynum

The Daily Brief - Wednesday, February 23, 2011

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." (John 6:27)

The Daily Brief

1. It's Crunch Time for Organized Labor - Wall Street Journal

U.S. labor unions are facing the most direct challenge to their political and financial clout since Ronald Reagan broke the air-traffic-controllers union 30 years ago.

Across the industrial Midwest, a union stronghold long vital to Democrats and key to Obama's re-election prospects, Republicans are trying to roll back the bargaining and dues-collecting powers not just of public-employee unions but also of groups that represent auto workers and carpenters.

Democratic members of Indiana's House of Representatives refused to show up for work Tuesday, in an effort to block debate on a Republican-backed "right to work" bill that would allow workers to opt out of paying union dues even in a union-represented shop. Such laws are in force in 22 states.

- Declare and decree that the love of money and devious unions be broken, but that employers and employees gain the wisdom needed for the future of the American Workforce. Pray that only the God of the Bible and His principles rule and reign over business in the US and around the globe, as this diabolical way of running business is no longer sustainable.

- Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another. But if ye inquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly. (Acts 19:38-39)

2. Arizona Senate Panel Passes Sweeping Bills Targeting Illegals, Birthright Citizenship - Associated Press

An Arizona Senate committee late Tuesday narrowly approved a sweeping bill that would target illegal immigrants in public housing, public benefits and the workplace.

The committee earlier Tuesday also approved a bill that would deny automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants in a measure designed to set up a possible U.S. Supreme Court case on the issue.

Republican state Sen. Russell Pearce, who authored Arizona's controversial illegal immigration law last year that touched off a nationwide debate on whether states can enforce federal immigration laws, sponsored Tuesday's more sweeping measure.

"If you're in the country illegally, you don't have a right to public benefits, period," he said.

- Beseech the Father to take us back to the good old days where immigrants worked hard and came legally into this country. Pray for illegal immigrants to have repentant hearts before God and not man, to "obey all men's ordinances", and decree that politicians get out of the law's way.

- And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds. (Acts 19:18)

3. Dems Dare GOP on Federal Shutdown - Fox News

Democrats are daring Republicans to continue to press for deep cuts in federal spending with a potential government shutdown now just nine days away.

Agencies in the Obama administration are making ready for a government shutdown and congressional Democrats have responded to Republican calls for deep spending cuts with a proposal for no reductions and accusations that House Speaker John Boehner is a pawn of Sarah Palin. It's getting ugly.

- As "Big Brother" is enraged by someone actually taking a stand in Washington and doing his job to listen to "We The People", pray that the deceit and the lying will take a back seat to the truth about what the American people want. Intercede to pry away weird elites in government who do not understand that they are employed by us.

- On the day set for their meeting, Herod, robed in pomposity, took his place on the throne and regaled them with a lot of hot air. The people played their part to the hilt and shouted flatteries: "The voice of God! The voice of God!" (Acts 12:21-22)

4. Saudi Arabia Uprising Could Mean $140-Plus Oil - CNBC

The events unfolding in Libya mark the first uprising in a major oil producing country this year, giving energy traders their first indication of where crude could climb if Mideast turmoil were to spread to Saudi Arabia or Iran.

- Lord, we bring this situation to you. You know what is ahead regarding the Mideast turmoil. We plead the blood of Jesus over this entire situation. We turn the care of it over on You, and trust you will turn it for good.

- until you learn and know and recognize that the Most High God rules the kingdom of mankind (Daniel 4:25b)

5. 'Islam is regarded as the biggest threat to Europe for many Europeans' - MSNBC

An estimated 44 million Muslims live in Europe -- about six percent of the continent's total population -- and the figure is expected to grow to 58 million by 2030, according to The Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion & Public Life.

- Lord, we lift up this threat to Europe. Protect their system of government from sharia law. We pray that native Europeans will hold places of authority. Give the leaders wisdom in this situation. Let them not be outwitted by extremists who would try to "take over" the country for Islam.

- By me kings reign and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges and governors of the earth. (Proverbs 8: 15,16)

1. 'Arab unrest signals Messiah's coming' - Ynet News

Prominent rabbis from the Lithuanian ultra-Orthodox sector have offered their own curious interpretations for the upheaval that is spreading through the Middle East, stating that the events are a clear proof that a higher power is at work.

2. FM sends document to EU ministers on Palestinian violations - Jerusalem Post

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman submitted a document to foreign ministers in the EU in Brussels which lists all the violations made by the Palestinian Authority against previous agreements in the last two years, Israel Radio reported.

3. Iran Sends Two Naval Vessels Through Egypt's Suez Canal - Wall Street Journal

Israel put its navy on alert as two Iranian naval vessels sailed through Egypt's Suez Canal on Tuesday, staking out what Israeli officials called a provocative, symbolic presence in the Mediterranean.

The Daily Jot

Are you at your post?

When our son Christian was old enough to understand, I taught him The Great Commission. He could recite it to his teachers in the home school co-op, and to this day at nearly 19, he still knows it by heart. If you ask him what his purpose in life is, he will still tell you "To glorify God!" Jesus gave us The Great Commission in several places of the Bible. Matthew 28:19, 20 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." I am not telling you that Christian is without imperfections, I am saying he knows his mission.

Jesus, after he was crucified, appeared unto the eleven and, as Mark 16 recounts, "upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen." In verse 15 Jesus says, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." And before Jesus ascended to heaven, His last words to those in witness were "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." The message is very clear--that we need to be making disciples and being witnesses of Jesus to all.

Jesus also gave us parables, such as the one about the ten virgins and the oil in their lamps. He warns us in Matthew 24:44-46, "Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing." He tells us the parable of the nobleman who was to go far away to receive a kingdom and return. Jesus says in Luke 19:13, "Occupy till I come." "Occupy" here means "to busy oneself with." We truly are to be about the Lord's business until his return.

This week, Jean and Scott Adam, Phyllis Mackay and Robert Riggle were slaughtered by Islamic Somali pirates. The Adams, on their yacht S/V Quest, were a retired couple who traveled the world giving out Bibles. Their stated mission is: "To allow the power of the Word to transform lives." On their website, they wrote: "We seek fertile ground for the Word and homes for our Bibles...AND even more extraordinary are the times when people have been praying for Bibles for their group or their schools and when we arrive we are often greeted by the attitude of, "We were expecting you." Like them, my prayer is that me and my family will be at their post, glorifying God, when he comes for us.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Iran Warships Complete Suez Canal Voyage

Iran Warships Complete Suez Canal Voyage Amid Israel Objection

Iranian warships sailed through the Suez Canal to reach the Mediterranean Sea for the first time since 1979 as Israel stressed its objection to their voyage to Syria. The two ships entered the canal early today after the approval of Egypt's Defense Ministry, the state-run Middle East News Agency cited Ahmed El Manakhly, head of traffic at the Suez Canal Authority, as saying. MENA didn't specify when the vessels reached open water. Crude reached its highest level in a week in New York on Feb. 18 as the heightening of tensions between Iran and Israel because of the trip increased concerns over instability in the region. Iran is the second-biggest producer, after Saudi Arabia, in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries. Oil jumped to the highest in more than two years in New York today as Libyan unrest stoked further concern over supplies. (Bloomberg News)

Iran hails warships' mission in Mediterranean

CAIRO - Iranian officials on Tuesday hailed the passage of two warships through Egypt's Suez Canal as a milestone in Iran's effort to play a greater role in maritime affairs. Israeli officials called it a worrisome provocation at a time of upheaval and deepening tension in the Arab world. Brig. Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi, the deputy commander of Iran's military, was quoted by the country's official Islamic Republic News Agency as saying that the Suez transit had succeeded "by the grace of God" and describing Israeli officials' concerns as "negative propaganda." Iranian officials did not provide details about the ships' mission. (Washington Post)

Feds Appeal Defeat of Secret Surveillance Policy

The Obama administration is appealing the first and likely only lawsuit resulting in a ruling against the secret National Security Agency warrant-less surveillance program adopted in the wake of the 2001 terror attacks. A San Francisco federal judge in December awarded $20,400 each to two American lawyers illegally wiretapped by the George W. Bush administration, and granted their counsel $2.5 million for the costs litigating the case for more than four years. Although U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker had called it "unlawful surveillance," the judge went soft on the government because the authorities, he said, believed they were protecting the country in the aftermath of the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

Walker did not declare the administration's so-called Terrorist Surveillance Program unconstitutional, and he declined to issue punitive damages to punish the government for wiretapping in the country without warrants. Instead, the judge granted the two spied-upon lawyers for the now-defunct Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation charity $100 a day for each of the 204 days their telephone calls were wiretapped beginning February 2004, an amount they sought. In addition, they requested about $200,000 each in punitive damages, and the same amount to be awarded to the charity - all of which was denied. (Wired News)

4,000 Homeschoolers sing "America The Beautiful" at the IL State Capitol Building

Just prior to a hearing on SB136, a proposal that would force Home Schoolers to register with the state and undergo criminal background checks, 4000 home schoolers converged on the IL State Capitol in Springfield to make their voices heard in protest to this attempt to take away their freedom. While waiting for the hearing, they started singing "America The Beautiful".

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." (John 6:27)

The Daily Brief

1. Pirates Killed Killed Four Americans Who Traveled the World Handing out Bibles - Worthy News

Four Americans distributing Bibles around the world have been killed by Somali pirates, Worthy News has learned.

The yacht Quest was hijacked last Friday off the coast of Oman. Those killed were yacht owners Jean and Scott Adam from Southern California. Along with the Adams were two other passengers, Phyllis Mackay and Bob Riggle.

The Adams have been sailing the world since 2004 distributing Bibles. [See more about their lives under Good News, below.]

- Pause briefly tonight and offer a word of prayer for these four brave souls who have died in the service of our Lord. Pray for the family and friends who have been left behind, that they may know the comfort of our Savior in this hour.

- "And they loved not their lives unto death." (Rev. 12:11)

2. U.S. Cautious as Libya Unravels - AP

U.N. Condemns Libya Crackdown

As turmoil in Libya rages for a seventh day Tuesday, the Obama administration so far has offered a cautious response to protesters even as it receives widespread encouragement to take stronger action against dictator Muammar al-Qaddafi. Not unlike the U.S. response to protests in Egypt and Tunisia, the U.S. has been tempered in its support for protesters. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that the U.S. is watching the situation in Libya "with alarm" and condemned the violence.

- If we ever needed to ask that this administration be granted "wisdom from above," it is now. Ask, that we may receive, on behalf of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and all who work with her in foreign affairs. It's time for America to take a stand for freedom at the global level. Amen.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." (Psalm 32:8)

3. Saudi Arabia chides U.S. for vetoing UN resolution on Israeli settlements - Haaretz

The United States on Friday vetoed a draft U.N. Security Council resolution which described the settlements as "illegal" and urged Israel to halt all settlement activities "immediately and completely." Saudi Arabia voiced regret on Monday over a U.S. veto of a U.N. resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank, in a rare criticism of Washington by its close Arab ally.

- Father, we thank you for allies both in Israel and in Saudi Arabia. We ask that our friends would seek unity in You, Father, and not just in each other.

- "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you." (Psalm 122:6)

4. Lawmakers: Attack shows need for reform of policies with Mexico - The Hill

Lawmakers on the House Homeland Security Committee are considering whether U.S. agents operating in Mexico should be allowed to carry weapons in the wake of an attack by a drug cartel that killed one agent and wounded another. The brutal attack that saw at least 83 bullets fired at two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents last week also has members pushing to extradite the attackers to the U.S. if they are captured alive. "It's a direct attack the Obama administration needs to respond in a very forceful way," Rep. Michael McCaul said.

- Lord, we have a desolate and dangerous border to our south. We ask you to cover that territory with your presence, and send your holy angels to protect our nation, our land, and bring about your will and your plans for your people on both sides of that border.

- "Your borders are in the heart of the seas; Your builders have perfected your beauty." (Ezekiel 27:4)

5. Political Fight Over Unions Escalates - Wall Street Journal

The clash between Republicans and unions that caught fire in Wisconsin last week escalated Monday: Labor leaders planned to take their protests to dozens of other capitals, and Democrats in a second state considered a walkout to stall bills that would limit union power.

- Father, we thank you for both men and women eager to work, and for men and women who have put their good names forward to lead your people both in business and in government. Insofar as we sin against one another, and have not sought You for Your forgiveness, we confess our sin and the sins of our people. We ask you to bring reconciliation between people, for they were created in the image of God to be creators like you in the workplace. We ask for forgiveness, reconciliation, and workplaces in Wisconsin and across this land where people would flourish in You!

- "I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father's house, have committed against you." (Nehemiah 1:6).

6. Home prices hit new lows in many metro areas - USA Today

Home prices in major U.S. cities tracked by a private trade group have fallen to their lowest levels since the housing bubble burst.

- Lord, we simply ask for an economy built on trust in you, not in trusting man and what he can do, but for an economy that only brings you glory. Build up what brings trust and your glory, and tear down and root out what does not.

- "Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house." (Proverbs 24:27)

7. San Francisco May Vote on Circumcision Ban - NewsMax

San Francisco voters may be called on to decide whether to ban male circumcision in November. Ballot initiative proponent Lloyd Schofield called the measure a "human rights issue," the San Francisco Examiner reported.

- Father, sometimes we don't even have words for what we see in this evil age. Insofar as this could be a matter of religious freedom, we ask you to root it out and keep the United States a beacon for your light.

- "For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God." (Romans 2:28-29)

8. High court rejects new case on Ten Commandments - Washington Times

The U.S. Supreme Court has passed up a chance to take another look at a 6-year-old ruling that struck down the display of the Ten Commandments in two Kentucky courthouses.

- Lord, we ask that You would help us keep our laws consistent with Your law. We thank you for the heritage of those who have come before us, and may we be a heritage for those who come after us.

- "You shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes." (Deuteronomy 11:18)

9. FBI: Moslem Brotherhood deeply rooted inside U.S. - WND

Staff investigators with the House and Senate intelligence committees say they are probing the domestic security threat posed by the radical Muslim Brotherhood and, specifically, whether Brotherhood operatives have penetrated the U.S. government.

- Lord, we thank you that members of Congress on both sides are still taking serious looks at the Moslem Brotherhood. We ask that their full intents be revealed, and that you would protect your people from evil desires. May our leaders seek the counsel of the Lord!

- "Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord." (Joshua 9:14).

10. Fatalities Reported After Massive Earthquake Strikes New Zealand - AP

Multiple fatalities have been reported after a strong, 6.3-magnitude earthquake rocked the southern New Zealand city of Christchurch on Tuesday, seriously injuring people and damaging buildings throughout the city. Christchurch has been hit by hundreds of aftershocks since a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Sept. 4 last year, causing extensive damage and a handful of injuries, but no deaths.

- Father, we ask that Your goodness and Your Glory to be known in this land - for You are the God of Redemption - as New Zealand seeks to recover and rebuild. May Your people rise up stronger than ever in You, and may all the earth know that You are the God in New Zealand.

-"God sends earthquakes and shakes the ground; he rocks the pillars that support the earth." (Job 9:6)

1. Arrow 2 missile defense system successfully tested - Jerusalem Post

In face of Iran's continued race for nuclear power, Israel conducted a successful test of the Arrow 2 ballistic missile defense system off the coast of California early Tuesday morning, when it destroyed a target simulating an Iranian ballistic missile.

2. Israel's first openly gay judge appointed - Ynet News

Attorney Dori Spivak was appointed on Friday as a judge in the Tel Aviv Labor Court. He is the first openly gay judge appointed in Israel.

3. IDF deputy chief: Israel's army needs faith in God more than tanks - Ha'aretz

The events currently shaking the Arab world "were ordained from above" by a guiding hand, Israel Defense Forces Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Naveh said on Sunday. Naveh added that the Israeli army needed faith in God now more than its supply of planes and tanks.

The Daily Jot

A prophetic shaking throughout the Middle East

The news media and the Director of National Intelligence have been proven wrong that the Moslem Brotherhood is a non-violent group with mainly secular ties. AFP reports that the "spiritual leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood", also the head of the International Union for Moslem Scholars, cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi issued a religious edict, or fatwa, that fellow sponsor of terrorism Moamer Kadhafi is to be killed. Al-Qaradawi told Al Jazeera television from his base in Qatar, "Whoever in the Libyan army is able to shoot a bullet at Mr. Kadhafi should do so...to rid Libya of him." This should be a clear indicator to the White House that the Moslem Brotherhood is assisting in the unrest of the entire Middle East.

The Middle East is in uproar. This obvious statement belies explanation. The Western news media says it is an uprising of people around the region who want freedom and democracy. But what does not fit this picture is the Moslem Brotherhood. This group is a terror sponsoring group that advocated a worldwide Caliphate--that is Sharia Law established in every country on the earth. Democracy is the antithesis of Moslem Brotherhood doctrine. Peace is only the peace of Islam, which is found in Sharia law. And freedom is the freedom found in the shackles of Sharia. No other political body on the face of the earth promotes human rights violations and slavery more than the so-called "peaceful" religion of Islam.

That the Moslem Brotherhood is working with its natural opposition, the Shiite Iranian Ayatollah, in overthrowing what many consider radical regimes, means one of two things: either a more moderate government is sought, or a more radical government is on the horizon. Given the rhetoric that one reads on the signs of the protestors and hears in their chants, the hate for Israel and America does not give much hope for a moderate, democratic replacement of these regimes. Once again, to discern this "movement" properly, one has to look at the actions of the people, not the reporting of idealist left-leaning journalists.

The sinister and warlike characteristics of Islam were long adopted before Mohammed chose the greatest of the pagan gods in the temple at Mecca to be the one and only allah. Ishmaelites descended from Ishmael and are mentioned no less than eight times in the Old Testament. In Psalm 83, Asaph writes in verse 4, "They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance." Then he lists those who wish to destroy Israel and among them are the Ishmaelites. The more things change, the more they remain the same. This Islamist uprising is not about democracy, perhaps more about demon-ocracy. Take heed that you are not deceived.

Libya: Why The Difference?

When Egyptian protestors took to the streets to demand an end to the Mubarak regime, the White House was quick to side with the protestors. Obama dispatched a highly respected former diplomat as a special envoy to tell Mubarak that he had to step down. As the protests escalated, Obama and Secretary of State Clinton urged an immediate transition to a new government that could include the Moslem Brotherhood.

Contrast their support for the Egyptian protestors with their cautious approach to the violence in Libya. The Libyan people are rising up against Col. Muammar al-Qadhafi, a dictator who has held power for more than 40 years. He has responded with a brutal campaign to crush the resistance -- bringing in mercenaries, tanks and even airplanes to strafe demonstrators.
Secretary Clinton issued a statement yesterday noting that "The government of Libya has a responsibility to respect the universal rights of the people, including the right to free expression and assembly." The violence in Libya is far worse than anything we witnessed in Egypt, but Obama's response to it is tepid compared to how quickly he undermined Mubarak.

Qadhafi has a long history of promoting and paying for terrorism. Ronald Reagan tried to kill him because he blew up American soldiers in a Berlin bombing in 1986. Two years later, he brought down Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing more than 260 people. Last week, Qadhafi urged the Palestinians to revolt against Israel. Yet the best Obama and Clinton can muster is to encourage him to "respect the universal rights of the people." Good luck. (Gary Bauer)

Weapons of Mass Distraction

While his girls are out in Colorado enjoying the local skiing, President Obama is dealing with his own slippery slope. For the first time since the Planned Parenthood tapes were made public, the organization's cheerleader-in-chief fielded questions about the controversy over child prostitution. As the most powerful ally Planned Parenthood has ever had in the White House, Obama recognizes his vulnerability on the issue. During an interview with NBC12, reporters asked him if Lila Rose's videos were the proof his administration needed to start examining Planned Parenthood more closely.

NBC12: "There's as debate raging over a conservative group that went into Planned Parenthood with a video camera and taped what appeared to be Planned Parenthood workers turning a blind eye to sex trafficking. Republicans in Washington have now turned this into a call for you and for other leaders to strip Planned Parenthood of funding from the federal government. How would you react to it?"

Obama: "I think sometimes these issues get manufactured. They get a lot of attention in the blogosphere. You know my bottom line is I think that Planned Parenthood in the past has done good work. If there was a specific problem at this center, it should be addressed, but we shouldn't get so distracted with some of these issues."

As the father of three girls, I don't understand how Obama--or any parent--could call child sex slavery a "distraction." These would have been eighth graders, sent to the streets by the men Planned Parenthood protected. Nor was this an isolated incident. The organization didn't turn its back on teenage prostitution in one clinic, as Obama suggests, but in seven! And that doesn't include a dozen tapes in which Planned Parenthood agrees to everything from accepting race-based abortion donations to covering up statutory rape.

Considering this administration's flat-out refusal to help exploited kids, this should come as no surprise. If child pornography is a distraction, why wouldn't sex slavery be? Ironically, this claim comes from a President who has spent plenty of time sidetracked on issues unrelated to his office. Chicago Olympic bid, anyone? How about the beer sum mit? Or the protests by Wisconsin's teachers unions? If our President believes that protecting children is a "distraction," America has bigger problems than I thought. (Family Research Council)

More on Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthoodlums on the Run . . .

Staring down a multi-million dollar loss, Planned Parenthood is launching what its headquarters calls "the most intense short-term campaign we have ever run." Now that Lila Rose's videos have lifted the veil on the real Planned Parenthood, leaders are starting to realize that the government cannot be a part of such deep-seated corruption. When the House passed the continuing resolution (CR) last week, it temporarily defunded Planned Parenthood.

While this was a huge victory for pro-lifers, the hard part is yet to come. The CR will have to be hashed out in the Senate and sent to the White House--both of which are controlled by pro-abortion politicians. With Planned Parenthood in a panic, their army is on the move. Calls are flooding into Hill offices, and money is streaming in from liberals all over America . The Left understands that if this can happen to Planned Parenthood, it can happen to any of their causes. With hundreds of thousands in lobbying dollars at their disposal, Planned Parenthood can buy influence everywhere.

And while we can't compete with their government funding, we can outnumber their troops. This CR is the best--and perhaps only--opportunity we have this Congress to defund the billion dollar enterprise known as Planned Parenthood. It's up to our movement to seize this moment. We have just days left to double our efforts in this fight and remind people, including our friends, that protecting life is non-negotiable.

This week, both the House and the U.S. Senate are scheduled to be back in their home districts. My urgent request is that you call, write and, visit the district offices in your state to let them know not to back down in the cause of life. If you do stop by your leaders' offices, take along a copy of our Planned Parenthood fact sheet to give to them. Also, join us around the country this Friday, February 25 in a noon prayer vigil outside the members' district offices. Thanks to Lila Rose, Congress has seen the horrors inside the windowless offices of Planned Parenthood. What they know, they're accountable for. So help us gather as many pro-lifers as possible in your area to pray for those leaders. Ask God to show them the significance of this moment and give them the wisdom to act on it. Thursday: Collegiate Day of Prayer

The God Who Answers United Prayer!

Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011

We are living in times that should provoke us to pray fervently. Yet, before we can accurately estimate the needs of our times, we must remind ourselves to whom we are praying - Who is the object of all our fervent prayers? It is Jehovah, the Lord and King of all heaven and earth - Our Father in heaven is the only one who answers prayer. The Almighty Christ hears our prayers and feels the burdens of our broken hearts. He sympathizes with our all weakness, remembers the humble and listens to the cry of the needy. He alone is worthy of all praise, honor and glory, and in our time of need we look to Him alone and pray!

This exalted view of God doesn't allow us to hide from the needs of this present generation. No, it empowers us to face these needy times with great faith and hope. The future of America's colleges, and that of our whole nation seems to be hanging in the balance. Yet, this is not a time to shrink in fear and hide - Our God and King is still on the throne and ready to hear and answer our prayers. Now is the time to unite and focus our prayers of faith on the spiritual needs of our College Students.

Please join us as we seek to unite 2000 prayer groups across all 50 states to pray for every college campus by name on February 24th, 2011.

You can participate by:

1. Gathering with others! Gather on your campus or in your church on February 24th. We encourage you to register your planned participation, and let us know which campus(s) your group is planning to pray for by name on the 24th when you gather. Register Here

2. Forward this email to everyone you know!

Pirates Killed Four Americans Who Traveled the World Handing out Bibles

Four Americans distributing Bibles around the world have been killed by Somali pirates, Worthy News has learned.

The yacht Quest was hijacked last Friday off the coast of Oman. Those killed were yacht owners Jean and Scott Adam from Southern California. Along with the Adams were two other passengers, Phyllis Mackay and Bob Riggle.

The Adams have been sailing the world since 2004 distributing Bibles.
The Adams have been chronicling their journey on their website. (http://svquest.com)

The website includes information about Jean's interest's, their 2010 and 2010 travel plans, and past voyages the couple have gone on.

Their mission statement on their website is, "To allow the power of the Word to transform lives. We seek fertile ground for the Word and homes for our Bibles. Often, the ultimate homes are best found by people who are already living locally and seeking and cultivating that fertile ground.

AND even more extraordinary are the times when people have been praying for Bibles for their group or their schools and when we arrive we are often greeted by the attitude of, "We were expecting you." (Worthy News)
