The Daily Brief - Tuesday, October 13, 2009

"When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness." (Isaiah 26:9)

The Daily Brief

1. Napolitano Says Al Qaeda-Type Terrorists in U.S. - Fox News

Law enforcement authorities are tracking terrorists with Al Qaeda leanings in the U.S., Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told Bloomberg Television on Monday.

• Heavenly Father, we pray that our hedge of protection will be restored to this nation and all terrorist plots will be stopped. To restore the hedge, we pray that our citizens will desire holiness, and You, more than anything else.

Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved! (Psalms 80:19)

2. Abortion Foes Push for License Plates - USA Today

Americans use specialty license plates as mobile billboards for all kinds of causes, but in New Jersey, New York and Illinois, motorists can't use the forum to voice their stand on the abortion debate.

• Father God, we know that it grieves Your heart to see Your creations destroyed. We pray that the U.S. will have its spiritual eyes opened to see what an abomination abortion is and come to totally reject it.

A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray. (Isaiah 35:8)

3. Dems Scramble After Warning from Health Insurers - AP

Insurance companies aren't playing nice any more. Their dire message that health care legislation will drive up premiums for people who already have coverage comes as a warning shot at a crucial point in the debate, and threatens President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.

• Lord, we pray that truth be revealed in these plans for a healthcare bill. We pray that no bill will be enacted that would cause a greater burden on our citizens.

Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. (Psalms 52: 2,3)

4. U.S. Healthcare Overhaul Poised for Big Step Forward - Reuters

U.S. President Barack Obama's push for sweeping healthcare reform was poised to clear a key Senate hurdle on Tuesday, opening a new phase in the raging debate over his top domestic priority. The Finance Committee vote will be closely watched to see if Senator Olympia Snowe, a moderate from Maine, becomes the first Republican in Congress to back a health reform bill and if any of Obama's fellow Democrats defect on the issue.

• Lord, we pray those who are weakening under the pressure to accept a bill that is filled with debt and deception will have a strong backbone against that pressure.

Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (Joshua 1:7)

5. Flu risks High for Healthy Youths - The Washington Times

But the worst and most mysterious aspect is that the disease strikes an unusually large number of healthy young people and can be fatal for adolescents and young adults even when they receive intensive care treatment, according to two studies released Monday.

• Heavenly Father, we pray for protection for our children, unborn children, pregnant women, and all those who are weak and vulnerable. We pray for a hedge of protection around our nation against all attacks.

You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah (Psalms 32:7)

6. Schwarzenegger Approves 'Harvey Milk Day' - Breitbart

"Harvey Milk Day" will not be a formal state holiday, so government employees will not be given the day off. The bill instead calls for the day to be observed by public schools as a day of special significance. Teachers will be encouraged to conduct exercises recalling Milk's life and contributions to the state.

"Harvey's work was not only about the respect and dignity and validation of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, but for all human life. That's why I think he ranks among the other world-renown human rights leaders," he said.

• Heavenly Father, we pray for those who consistently rebel against you and your laws that they might bend their neck and bow their knees. Bring them to repentance and salvation.

• For it is written: "As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And Every tongue shall confess to God." (Romans 14:11)

7. BREAKING: Health Bill Passes Committee - AP

Senate Finance Committee votes to send its version of the health care legislation to the Senate floor after months of closely watched deliberations.

- Thank the Lord that He is in control, and He will make a way of deliverance from this looming yoke of oppression. (For more on this thought, please see the PRAYER STRATEGY, below.)

- " . . . I will deliver My people out of your hand and you shall know that I am the Lord." (Ezek. 13:23)

The Middle East in Focus

This week, for all the headlines cited below, please join us in proclaiming THIS DECREE:

"For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem." (Zech. 14:2a)

1. Report: Arms ship stopped on way from Iran to Syria - Ynet News

A German merchant ship was stopped by US war ships in the waters of the Suez Bay in early October, on suspicion of carrying Iranian weapons bound for Syria, Berlin's Der Spiegel magazine reported Monday.

2. After drill cancellation, Barak says Turkey major player in ME - Jerusalem Post

Following Turkey's cancellation of a joint military exercise on Sunday, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that "despite the ups and downs, Turkey continues to be a major player in our region."

3. Netanyahu slams Goldstone in Knesset - Jerusalem Post

"The right for a Jewish state and the right to self defense are two of the basic principles of our people. These two elements are interwoven: Without a state of our own we cannot defend ourselves and without the right to self defense, we cannot run our own country," Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at the opening of the Knesset's winter session on Monday.

The Daily Jot

White House Appointed Marxist Infiltrators Seek To Establish Argentinean-Style Media "Democratization" In United States

Last week, The Daily Jot reported that there were Marxists in the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission appointed by the man who occupies the Oval Office. They included disciples of and former associates of an organization called "The Free Press"--a Marxist mouthpiece touting transforming democracy by reforming media. Among them are former Free Press spokesperson Jen Howard, an activist for Marxist media reform, and press secretary to the chairman of the FTC, and Mark Lloyd, the Chief Diversity officer at the FCC. These people, along with the help of their colleagues, aim to write regulations and laws to divest media ownership into the "hands of the people."

Free Press Founder Robert McChesney wrote in his February Monthly Review, " . . . it is the specific responsibility of the left to urge not only the militant organization of the underlying population. In the end, there is no real answer but to remove brick by brick the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles." Another Marxist with close ties to McChesney is Mark Lloyd, now the Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer at the FCC. Lloyd wrote a book entitled "Prologue to a Farce: Communication and Democracy in America." McChesney contributed to and edited the book. Lloyd agrees that social change (Marxism) can be established by "democratic" ownership of the news media.

Bloomberg reports that Argentina's Senate Saturday passed a law aiming to "democratize" the airwaves. The new law limits ownership of cable and broadcast operations in a a single market, opening the airwaves to non-profit groups, universities, and the government. Argentine Pollster Carlos Fara told Bloomberg that the law "will allow for control of the press and of the impact the government thinks the media has on public opinion." This is exactly the type of regulatory change and policy revisions that Lloyd and his militant buddies are seeking at the FCC and FTC without trying to change any laws. In effect, they are attempting to undermine the First Amendment without drawing public attention to their efforts.

The Argentinean law is an example of how these Marxists are attempting to do away with free speech by making it seem like they are promoting free speech. And there are Marxists operating within the US government with approval of the White House that are trying to do the same thing. They believe that government control of the media is paramount to a Marxist America. Marxism seeks to replace God with government. Exodus 20:3 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." It is time to think the unthinkable. The Marxist coup is underway. It is radical and revolutionary. It is against the inalienable rights of individuals endowed by their Creator.

A GREAT PRAYER STRATEGY

Dear CHPP,

As I was reading the Word just now the Lord quickened the verses in Ezekiel 13:19-23 regarding how to pray about the H1N1 flu/virus, the Health Care Bill and about the Hate Crimes Bill.

Verse 19 speaks of profaning God in favor of carnality, and of killing people who should live, and keeping people alive who should die.

Verse 20 speaks of hunting souls like "birds", and of the Lord delivering them.

Verse 21 speaks of tearing off the veil (deception) and delivering the people so they shall no longer be as prey in the enemy's hand "Then you shall know that I am the Lord."

Verse 22 speaks of lies that have made the heart of the righteous sad and strengthened the hands of the wicked so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life.

Verse 23 sums it all up: "Therefore you shall no longer envision futility nor practice divination; for I will deliver My people out of your hand and you shall know that I am the Lord."

I am claiming this Word as I pray for the defeat of lies and deception in our government and the defeat of the immoral and unethical provisions in this Health Care Bill and the Hate Crimes rider to the Defense Appropriations Bill.

Love & Prayers,
Carol in Tennessee

-- Thank you, Carol! WE AGREE!!

Update: Federal Judgeship Act

Democrat Attempts to Pack the Courts with Liberal Judges

The Federal Judgeship Act was initially proposed last year with bipartisan support, but was never voted on. The legislation was intended to give both parties a voice in the makeup of an expanded federal judiciary. The winner of the 2008 presidential election would have selected the nominees.

But the Leahy plan would allow President Obama to select now, rather than wait until 2012.
Gary Bauer, president of American Values, said the move reeks of partisan politics.

"If they can put on some of these key federal appeals courts left-wing ideologues who are in favor of same-sex marriage, who will continue to push abortion, who will expand the power of government," he said, "then the big government agenda in Washington will continue, no matter who wins the next election."

Bauer said the need for judges is pressing because of Leahy's stonewalling of President Bush's judicial nominees. (Focus on the Family; CitizenLink)

Teacher Union Supports Safe-School Czar as More Questions Emerge

The National Education Association (NEA) has released a statement supporting President Barack Obama's Safe- Schools Czar, Kevin Jennings. NEA President Dennis Van Roekel, said Jennings is "highly qualified." "Mr. Jennings is under attack from conservatives and right-wing groups," he said. "One example of poor judgment should not tarnish 20 years of dedication to America's students."

As a schoolteacher, Jennings failed to report a sexual incident between an older man and a teenage boy.

More examples of "poor judgment" are surfacing.

A column Jennings wrote for The Huffington Post in 2007 took shots at the Christian organization Young Life, accusing it of "baiting and switching" to suck young people in.

In the same column Jennings attacks Texas' Religious Viewpoint Antidiscrimination law that protects the free- speech rights of Christian students. Candi Cushman, education analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the revelations are disturbing. "This is frightening to parents and students of faith, who expect taxpayer-funded government education to be neutral and respectful toward all viewpoints," she said, "including theirs." Barack Bankrupting America

In March, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) warned, "President Barack Obama's budget would produce $9.3 trillion in deficits over the next decade, more than four times the deficits of Republican George W. Bush's presidency." That warning is already coming true. While Congress was debating ObamaCare, a new Big Government program expected to cost $1 trillion, the announcement came last week that the United States posted a record annual deficit of $1.4 trillion. To give you some perspective, the previous record deficit, recorded last year, was a "mere" $459 billion. Obama's spending is making George W. Bush look like Scrooge.
But, if things don't change quickly in Washington, one budget analyst warns that it could get a lot worse than the CBO suggests. Brian M. Riedl of the Heritage Foundation says, "The White House figures are based on unrealistic estimates of discretionary spending, interest payments and interest rates." According to Riedl, a more realistic analysis produces deficits "$4 trillion higher than recent estimates by the Obama administration and the Congressional Budget Office." And if spending goes unchecked by future Congresses, the budget deficit could reach $2 trillion a year by 2019.

That kind of outrageous spending is unsustainable and will bankrupt America. But it helps to explain why Democrats are proposing a massive new energy tax, a value added tax, new surtaxes and excise taxes and more. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Oct. 12, 2009)

Interesting to Note

Democrats Questioning Obama's Foreign Policy?

Here's a news story that you probably didn't hear about over the weekend. Some of Obama's staunchest supporters are beginning to question his foreign policy. Former Senator Bob Kerrey (D-NE), a Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam War who endorsed Obama last year, wrote a Wall Street Journal op-ed Friday. He congratulated Obama on his Nobel Peace Prize but criticized his foreign policy for being too "naïve." Kerrey also criticized Obama for "apologizing for America too much."

Kerrey wrote, "[Obama] has made too many apologies. And at this point, his strategy is too naïve and has too little coherence to be called a strategy." Kerrey even went so far as to praise George W. Bush on Iraq. He wrote, "Then, against all reasonable predictions, President Bush chose to increase rather than decrease our military commitment. The 'surge,' as it became known, worked. Victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat. Great American leaders of our past had ignored popular sentiment and pressed on during the darkest hours, even when setbacks give rhetorical ammunition to skeptics."

Kerrey is respected in and around Washington for his foreign policy opinions. In fact, he is respected so much that he was placed in charge of the 9/11 commission. Normally, when a top supporter begins to criticize a president's foreign policy, it is a lead story on the nightly news. But then again, the mainstream media would never want to insult this Administration. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; Oct. 12, 2009)
