1. OBAMA RENEWS PUSH FOR WALL STREET OVERSIGHT

President went to the heart of Wall Street on the first anniversary of Lehman Brothers' collapse to outline changes he believes are needed to prevent a future crisis. Insisting on "common-sense rules of the road," President Obama told the wizards of Wall Street on Monday that he supports a free market, but he won't let financial firms that are "too big to fail" threaten the overall economy again.

in a speech on Wall Street, he tried to balance demands to reduce the federal government's role in banking while trying to increase oversight of the financial industry. Saying that he's not interested in being banker-in-chief, the president insisted that he does not want to "disparage wealth, but to expand its reach."

The president offered several remedies that would establish more oversight that he says will prevent another chain of events like that which led to a near- collapse of America's financial system last year. He called for a Consumer Financial Protection Agency that would provide "ground rules" for loans so that people will understand what they are signing. He also proposed a broad plan to give the Federal Reserve Board new oversight powers and impose conditions designed to discourage companies from getting too big. (FOXNEWS.com/AP)

- Because of the president and his advisors' record of deception in dealing with the public, skepticism is only natural when listening to the measures to place more regulatory rules on the free market. Is this speech a power-play or a play for more power for the federal government? In His Word, the Lord tells us that the earth is His and all that is in it. Pray for the Lord to step into this situation and impose His strategies for finance. Perhaps repentance is needed to reconcile the use of the Lord's blessings with His plans rather than American wastefulness.

- "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous." (Proverbs 13:22)

2. SENATE VOTES TO CUT OFF ACORN HOUSING FUNDING

The Senate voted to cut off ACORN Housing funds following the release of three videotapes that show employees of the activist group advising a "pimp" and "prostitute" on how to break the law. The amendment, offered by Nebraska Republican Sen. Mike Johanns, passed in a vote of 83 to 7 and prohibits the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now from receiving funds from the current Transportation and Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. It marks the third time this year Republicans tried to block the organization from federal funding. (Fox News)

- The Pittsburgh Tribune Review is reporting that ACORN is changing its name -- Community Organizations International, or COI. This is just one example of possible ongoing corruption: just shift the funds to another organization, etc. Pray that the Senate not stop here but that all corrupt, behind-the-scenes manipulators in this administration be exposed and brought to justice. Pray, too, that the Johanns Amendment be accepted by the House of Representatives, and that this move to defund ACORN not be vetoed by Mr. Obama. Pray!

- "He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands cannot carry out their plans." (Job 5:12)

3. 912: A WONDERFUL WEEKEND FOR A PARTY

It was a wonderful weekend in Washington. The weather was excellent, especially if you were here seeing the sites, touring the museums or attending the 9/12 Tea Party. While attendance estimates vary wildly, it is a safe to say the event was extremely well attended. Even the New York Times was forced to concede, "the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise." A lot appears to be surprising "the authorities" these days!

The turnout demonstrates a real awakening by the conservative grassroots, and I'm glad to see it happening. . . I'd like to report that the politicians were paying attention, but I'm not sure that was the case. Referring to the march, presidential advisor David Axelrod said on Face The Nation Sunday, "I don't think it's indicative of the nation's mood. You know, I don't think we ought to be distracted by that. My message to them is, they're wrong." (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 9/14/09)

Note: In lieu of prayer, we offer this on-site report from one of our readers:

"I was there. A unity and oneness on what form of government would be best for this nation. Many signs with scriptures and keeping God in America. I could feel it in my spirit that it was a new day for this Nation. It was such a blessing to walk among the people from all accross the land and to talk to them. People came from as far away as Alaska, Hawaii, CA, Texas, Maine. We had 12 buses from our city. These folks will return to their home states and will continue to fight for freedom, liberty, justice and bringing back the vision of what the founding fathers believed. This will only increase and grow in the days ahead. Speaking about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights was a main topic. They want to bring it back to the forefront that this is what the nation was built on. They are tired of the corruption in politics."

Prayer point: So much prayer has been offered up by so many. I believe they were answered in one day. The battle isn't over yet but the victory is ours. To be one of one million was awesome. It was the "Conservative Woodstock". I heard so many people saying that they've never done anything like this in their whole lives, but knew they had to be there. The joy, the excitement was electrifying. The spirit of blindness has been broken!! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!!

Verse: "The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish." (Prov. 10:28)

4. A COMMENTARY ON OBAMA'S HEALTH CARE SPEECH

Please read this excellent commentary, posted by the Christian Coalition of America, demonstrating that last week's speech showed that Obama is still defying the will of the American people.

Prayer Point: Prayer is making a difference in the debate over health care in our nation. Let's continue to press in, until only the plan that GOD would choose for His people, would pass. Taxpayer-funded abortions and so-called "death panels" for seniors is clearly not the will of the Father, who gives us life. The tide in the public debate is turning; may our leaders now hear and take heed. Pray!

Verse: "It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord." (Zech. 4:6)

5. CONGRESSMAN JOE WILSON: NO MORE APOLOGY NEEDED

No doubt you have seen South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson all over the news for his outburst during President Obama's address to Congress last week. Wilson said just two words, "You lie!" when President Obama was misleading the American people about illegal immigrants receiving coverage under the healthcare reform bill. Some of you considered Wilson's outburst inappropriate and rude. On the other hand, quite a few folks felt his frustration reflected their own.

Rep. Wilson immediately issued a public apology and called White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to apologize. The White House accepted his apology. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi is demanding that Wilson formally apologize in the House chamber. Otherwise a vote to discipline Wilson will be brought to the floor. Rep. Wilson has stated that he will not issue another apology. Thankfully, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is circulating a letter to other members of Congress asking them to defend Wilson. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 9/14/09)

Update: House Democratic leaders have decided to formally discipline Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., on Tuesday for his jeer last week at President Obama during a joint session of Congress. The punishment is expected take the form of a "resolution of disapproval," which is a milder version of other more traditional means of congressional discipline like a censure or fine. Wilson can avoid the rap on the wrists by apologizing to his colleagues on the House floor, but Wilson -- who already apologized directly to the White House -- has said that's not going to happen. (Fox News)

Prayer Point: Offer praise to the Lord that one, lone voice in the House Chamber confronted a lie, with the truth. Praise Him, too, for the many other voices joined in one great chorus of opposition as the President spoke. This is a democracy - not a dictatorship. Although congressional protocol may have been breached in this case, Kingdom protocol was not. Voices of opposition need to continue to be raised If and when we are confronted by lies in leadership. Pray for protection for Rep. Joe Wilson; may our Lord bless this man.

Verse: And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that . . . all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. (Deuteronomy 28:1,2)

6. HOUSE ETHICS COMMITTEE INVESTIGATES REP. RANGEL: TAX EVASION?

I don't think it's any coincidence that the Democrat leadership is in full-fledged attack mode while Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, has been the subject of various reports alleging he is guilty of tax evasion. The New York Post reported that Rangel's unreported business deals have topped $3 million dollars. And this is the man responsible for writing our nation's tax laws!

Rangel is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, but he remains chairman of one of the most important committees. Rangel epitomizes the definition of a corrupt Washington politician, and even the Washington Post and the New York Times have called for his resignation. Yet the likelihood of Rangel receiving any punishment is slim-to-none. In fact, in February Democrats voted down a GOP resolution that would have removed Rangel as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee until he was cleared of wrongdoing. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; 9/14/09)

- "He who walks with integrity walks securely, But he who perverts his ways will become known." (Proverbs 10:9)

7. BILL TO REPEAL FEDERAL "DOMA" TO BE INTRODUCED TODAY

Democratic representatives Jerrold Nadler of New York, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, and Jared Polis of Colorado will be introducing legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act today (Tuesday, Sept. 15) The bill, which would require the Federal government to recognize same-sex marriages, is expected to get dozens of co-sponsors, but it has yet to be seen just how much of DOMA the bill will actually repeal.

DOMA states that the Federal government will not recognize same-sex marriages, and basically denies same-sex couples 1,138 rights that opposite-sex couples enjoy, including Social Security survivor payments. DOMA also allows individual states to choose how they define the word marriage. Currently under DOMA, states can choose not to recognize same-sex marriages, even if the marriages were legally performed in another state. Proposition 8 would have never been introduced if DOMA did not exist.

The bill could repeal the entire Defense of Marriage Act, or it could focus on solely repealing Section 2, the portion that denies federal recognition. With so much controversy over same-sex marriage, it would probably be 'easier' for Congress to pass a bill that only repealed the federal section, and continued to allow individual states to choose how they define marriage. (Washington Examiner)

[Prayer will be posted tonight.]

8. NEXT UP: THE JUMMAH PRAYER ON THE HILL

The 9/12 Tea Party is over. But in two weeks, tens of thousands of Muslims will gather in Washington, D.C., to hold Friday Jummah prayers on Capitol Hill. The event is being organized by the Dar-ul-Islam mosque in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Their goal is to bring 50,000 Muslims to the nation's capitol for a massive outdoor Friday prayer service on September 25th.

Hassen Abdellah, president of the Dar-ul-Islam mosque, said of the event, "Most of the time, when Muslims go to Washington, D.C., they go there to protest. This is not a protest. Never has the Islamic community prayed on Capitol Hill for the soul of America. We're Americans. We need to change the face of Islam so people don't feel every Muslim believes America is 'the great Satan,' because we love America."

Prayer Point: We are praying that Abba will LIFT this huge veil of deception soon, and pierce their hearts to come to know HIM as Lord - even as He did for each one of us.

Verse: " . . .if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven." (Mt. 18:19)

9. GAY MARCH ON WASHINGTON, D.C. PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 11

A grassroots GLBT network called Equality Across America will stage "a massive national day of action" Oct. 11 in Washington, D.C. According to organizers, the National Equality March has been endorsed by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches and Join The Impact, among other groups. Oct. 11 also is National Coming Out Day, and 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of the first gay march on Washington.

"We're marching this October to demand action from the federal government to protect our rights in all 50 states," said co-organizer Kip Williams. "Real equality can only come from the president, the Congress and the Supreme Court."

Organizers said the march also is supported by veteran national GLBT activists David Mixner, Torie Osborn, Cleve Jones, Ann Northrop, Nicole Murray-Ramirez and Nadine Smith, along with newer activists such as Dustin Lance Black, Lt. Dan Choi, Corey Johnson and "Meet in the Middle" organizer Robin McGehee.

Black said the march will refocus attention on the federal government following decades of gay activists' working more on state and local issues. "The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law, but LGBT Americans are still denied that protection -- now is the time to push for real equality, in all matters governed by civil law," Black said.

Organizers say they are "recruiting volunteers in all 435 U.S. congressional districts to pressure members of the House of Representatives." "We want every member of Congress to know that there are LGBT people and our allies in every single district," said Johnson. The march route remains to be finalized. (Washington Examiner)

- We have abandoned the Law of God . . . misinterpretations of the 14th Amendment notwithstanding. In the book of Deuteronomy, God warned the nation of Israel what would happen to them if they did not obey God and follow His precepts and principles. In His mercy, God always warns nations before He judges them and in doing so gives them the chance to repent. However, if the nation does not repent, God's judgment will become more severe. Stand in repentance before the LORD, for our nation has surely lost its way.

- "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (Lev. 18:22) "But it shall come about, if you do not obey the LORD your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you . . ." (Dt. 28: 15)

10. SOMALI INSURGENTS VOW TO AVENGE U.S. RAID THAT KILLED AL QAEDA SUSPECT

A U.S. raid killed one of Africa's most wanted al-Qaida suspects sought in connection with a deadly hotel bombing, and Somalia's powerful insurgent group vowed Tuesday to avenge the American attack. Two senior members of al-Shabab, who asked that their names not be used because they are not authorized to speak publicly, said their fighters will retaliate for the raid that killed Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan on Monday. The commando-style action took place amid growing concerns that al-Qaida is gaining a foothold in this lawless nation.

Many experts fear Somalia is becoming a haven for al-Qaida, a place for terrorists to train and gather strength much like Afghanistan in the 1990s. Last year, U.S. missiles killed reputed al-Qaida commander Aden Hashi Ayro - marking the first major success after a string of U.S. military attacks in 2008. Two U.S. military officials said that forces from the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command were involved in Monday's raid in southern Somalia. The officials gave no details about the target, and they spoke on condition of anonymity because the operation was secret..Ernst Jan Hogendoorn, Horn of Africa Project Director of the International Crisis Group, said the "surgical" precision of Monday's raid shows that U.S. has specific intelligence in Somalia.

The U.N.-backed government, with support from African Union peacekeepers, holds only a few blocks of Mogadishu, the war-ravaged capital. (FOXNews.com)

- What is the complaint of the Somali al-Qaida? They have killed without regret nor remorse, but they never seem to learn that those who live by the sword die by the sword. Pray that the Lord either renews these members through the power of the Holy Spirit or removes them from the scenes. Through prayer, send evangelistic messages to Somalia, calling those citizens who live in terror because of the brutality of al-Qaida to peace in Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord for the excellence of American weaponry.

- "Say to them: 'As I live,' says the Lord God, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?" (Ezekiel 33:11)

11. ALERT: FBI WARNS POLICE TO WATCH FOR BOMB-MAKING MATERIALS AFTER NYC TERROR RAID

Counterterrorism officials are warning police departments around the country to be on the lookout for evidence of homemade bombs following raids on several New York City apartments in a hunt for explosives and possible links to Al Qaeda operatives. Investigators issued warrants to search the residences early Monday for explosives material but did not find any, according to a person briefed on the matter who was not authorized to discuss the case and requested anonymity.

The searches came after the man, who was under surveillance for possible links to the terrorism network, visited New York Cit y over the weekend and then left the area, said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y.

The joint FBI and Homeland Security intelligence warning, issued Monday, lists indicators that could tip off police to homemade hydrogen peroxide-based explosives, such as people with burn marks on their hands, face or arms; foul odors coming from a room or building; and large industrial fans or multiple window fans. The warning, obtained by The Associated Press, also said that these homemade explosive materials can be hidden in backpacks, suitcases or plastic containers.

Prayer Point: Pray PSALM 91 over this, and MARK 4:22 for the authorities who are searching for these men or women.

This Week, Worship Our Lord As . . .

LORD (Adoni)

"And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them." (Exodus 6:3)

For all of my loved ones who don't know You personally, will You reveal Yourself to them? O Lord, please reveal who You are to them, for knowing You is the greatest joy of my life. I trust you. Amen.

1. IN FLORIDA: CRIMINAL CONTEMPT FOR PRAYER?

Last year, the ACLU filed a lawsuit, Does v. School Board for Santa Rosa County, Florida, et al; against the Santa Rosa County School District claiming that some teachers and administrators were endorsing religion in their schools. The School District entered into an agreement that prohibited prayer at all school-sponsored events. The School District then entered into an even broader agreement prohibiting all employees from engaging in prayer. Without any legal argument, the agreement was entered by the federal district court in Pensacola, Florida.

Liberty Counsel filed a motion to intervene on behalf of Christian Educators Association Internal to challenge this unconstitutional infringement on the rights of teachers, administrators, and students. Principal Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman offered a prayer before a meal at a field house luncheon to honor private contributors to the athletic program. The U.S. District Court initiated criminal contempt proceedings and referred the two to the U.S. Attorney's Office for prosecution. The trial is set for September 17. The two men face fines, jail time, and loss of their retirement benefits.

More information on the case against the principal and athletic director can be found here.

and more information on the motion to intervene to challenge the order can be found here.

http://www.lc.org/index.cfm?PID=14100&PRID=827

- Gracious Lord, we are just two days away from a trial designed to put You in jail as well as your believers. We ask that You will place Your Protective Bloodline around Principal Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman who prayed and gave thanks to You at a private luncheon for Santa Rosa County School District Athletic donors. Please assign Your warring angels to these men. Please go before them, granting them a judge and jury who will give favor, and may the ACLU find this to be their Waterloo.

We claim Your promise to stop evil, that You declared in Job 38:11: "This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!" We ask for guidance and wisdom for their Liberty Counsel defense and for the Christian Educators Association as they seek to keep America free from religious tyranny. In Your Son's Name we pray. Amen.

- "'No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me.' says the Lord." (Isaiah 54: 17 NKJV)

2. BILL TO REPEAL FEDERAL DOMA TO BE INTRODUCED THIS WEEK

Congressional members Jerrold Nadler, D-NY, Tammy Baldwin, D-WI, and Jared Polis, D-CO are expected to introduce legislation to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act this week. The bill, which would require the Federal government to recognize same-sex marriages, is expected to get dozens of co-sponsors, but it has yet to be seen just how much of DOMA the bill will actually repeal.

DOMA states that the Federal government will not recognize same-sex marriages, and basically denies same-sex couples 1,138 rights that opposite-sex couples enjoy, including Social Security survivor payments. DOMA also allows individual states to choose how they define the word marriage. Currently under DOMA, states can choose not to recognize same- sex marriages, even if the marriages were legally performed in another state. Proposition 8 would have never been introduced if DOMA did not exist.

The bill could repeal the entire Defense of Marriage Act, or it could focus on solely repealing Section 2, the portion that denies federal recognition. With so much controversy over same-sex marriage, it is believed it would probably be 'easier' for a liberal-leaning Congress to pass a bill that only repeals the federal section, and continues to allow individual states to choose how they define marriage. (Washington Examiner)

- Dearest Father who Created Marriage, we humbly come before Your magnificent throne and plead that you will stop the incessant attacks against Your institution of marriage for all time. We are ashamed that in America, a sending country for Your Gospel, that this attack would continue against You and the rules that You gave us to live by, as found in Your Word, The Holy Bible. You declare that one man and one woman are to be joined in marriage. Period. There is no other way that people can be married. We ask that You will stop the plans of these congressional members, and that Your truth about ALL things, including marriage, will be known and honored by Americans and those in Congress, in our Judicial System and in the Executive branches of Federal, State, County and Municipal governments. In Jesus' magnificent Name we pray. Amen.

- "And He answered and said to them, 'Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, "For this reason a man and shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?" 'So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.'" (Matthew 19: 4-6 NKJV)

3. NEW OFFICIAL APPOINTED FOR "SCHOOL SAFETY" IS HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST

Kevin Jennings, President Obama's choice to monitor school safety once boasted that he introduced homosexual advocacy into the school system in Massachusetts by manipulating the message presented to lawmakers. In his position, he's responsible for oversight of programs that involve "safety" for public schools across the nation. Technically, Jennings is not one of Obama's "czars," who are special advisers to the president accountable to no one but the president. Jennings was named to a post in the Department of Education. However, his hiring did not require legislative oversight, such as the Senate vetting process required for other appointees.
Jennings is the founder and former executive director of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, which "works to make schools safe for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity," according to the government announcement of his appointment.

Linda Harvey of Mission America, which educates people on anti-Christian trends in the nation, said it is nothing less than a "tragedy" for an open homosexual who has "had an enormously detrimental impact on the climate in our schools" to be in such a position. (WorldNetDaily) Read more.

- Dear Abba Father. You desire that not one soul will perish because of evil doing that is beyond their control. You promise that those who harm innocent ones, that "it would be better for them to have a millstone hung around their neck and drown in the sea." We cry out to You, Father, that this evil manipulation of school children by our Federal government and other authorities, stop.

We ask that those responsible for these plans, be put out of elected or appointed office. We pray for their salvation and that they will use the rest of their lives to serve You. May all homosexual advocacy groups be stopped and dismantled as well, so that they, too, will find salvation. We ask that Your Holy Spirit intercede for this matter and all related ones. Thank You, that You have already won this battle! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

- "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18: 6)

4. SENATE APPROVES CASS SUNSTEIN AS "REGULATORY CZAR"

Harvard professor Cass Sunstein, confirmed this week by the Senate as the administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Budget and Management, was exposed for his belief that animals should be given legal rights like humans. Cass Sunstein, a White House nominee who has drawn serious fire from the right, cleared the Senate on a mostly partisan vote Thursday. The Senate vote was 57- 40, with only five Republicans backing the nomination. Four Democrats also voted against Sunstein.

Sunstein was confirmed as director of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, a largely bureaucratic position in which he'll oversee the effectiveness of federal regulations. But his nomination has roiled conservatives, led by Fox News host Glenn Beck, who have taken aim at Sunstein for some of his more liberal positions on animal rights and end-of-life care. (WorldNetDaily; Politico)

- The only praise we can offer here is that Sunstein will not technically serve as an Obama-appointed "czar" at the White House, but as one over whom the Senate will have oversight. Offer prayer that the Senate will do its constitutionally-appointed job in this case, and will carefully watch the actions of this new "czar." Pray!!

- "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." (Matthew 21:22)

1. U.N. SNUBS 9/11 REMEMBRANCES

In yet another in a series of inexplicable snubs, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon ignored events surrounding the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks last week. Spending some rare time at home in New York City, the globe-trotting U.N. chief did squeeze in some time to attend a local book party honoring the International Civil Service Commission (a part of the U.N. bureaucracy) and issue a statement hailing ozone preservation. He did not, however, take time to meet Vice President Joe Biden or Mayor Michael Bloomberg at Ground Zero. (WorldNet Daily) Read more.

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?pageId=109676

- What kind of thinking is the UN engaged in? If the attack of 9/11 had occurred in another nation, perhaps we could understand this snub. Since the UN workers watched the tragedy in progress, its behavior to its host country is beyond excuse. The USA spent much money and lost many military fighters in South Korea trying to defend the nation from the attacks coming from China. A small commemorative ceremony is at the least due to America. Pray for respect to be shown at the UN.

- "Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing." (2 Corinthians 7:9)

2. OBAMA SERVING AS PRESIDENT OF U.N. SECURITY COUNCIL THIS MONTH

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The United States on Tuesday (Sept. 1) assumed the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of September. Susan Rice, the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, took over the rotating Council presidency from the UN ambassador of the United Kingdom, John Sawers, who held the rotating presidency in August. The presidency of the Security Council rotates among the 15 members in alphabetical order.

As the United States holds the rotating Council presidency in September, U.S. President Barack Obama is scheduled to chair a Security Council session on Sept. 24 on the global nuclear disarmament - - the first such event by the 15-nation body which was set up to maintain peace and stability in the world at large. The role of president of the Security Council involves setting the agenda, presiding at its meetings and overseeing any crisis. The President is authorized to issue both presidential statements (subject to consensus among Council members) and notes, which are used to make declarations of intent that the full Security Council can then pursue. (Wikipedia)

- Offer a prayer that the President of the United States will hear the Lord, and will function according to His will during his 30 days in this chair. Ask for additional wisdom for Mr. Obama if an international crisis should unfold during his tenure in office. May the plans and agendas initiated and/or approved by Obama be found to be pleasing in the sight of our Lord. Amen.

- "Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth." (Rev. 1:5)

3. U.N. GENERAL ASSEMBLY CONVENED ON TUESDAY, SEPT. 15

Tomorrow, September 15, the UN General Assembly opens for the coming term. It will be a pivotal time for this influential institution as a new president of the GA is put into position. He will be the ambassador from Libya and his election reflects the growing influence of the many Muslim nations in this world body. Also, Iran's Ahmadinejad and Libya's Kadhafi will be there to address the ambassadors and visiting political leaders.

Please pray that in spite of the burgeoning influence of Islam, as well as many other ideologies and agendas operating, that Jesus Christ will be exalted as Lord of the nations and that the ambassadors and participating world leaders will come to know and revere Him. Pray that a culture of prayer will grow within the UN, its ambassadors and staff and that what was begun in such an anointed and beautiful way will continue to blossom and develop in ways that go far beyond what we can imagine. 4. NO VISA FOR AHMADINEJAD TO COME TO USA FOR OPENING OF UN

There are only eight days left to ask President Obama not to grant a visa which would allow Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the pretender to the presidency in Iran, entry into the United States to speak at the UN General Assembly in September. According to the Jerusalem Post: The United States says it has "serious concerns" that Iran is deliberately trying - at a minimum - to preserve a nuclear weapons option.

Glyn Davies, Washington's chief envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, also warned that the latest report by the nuclear watchdog shows that Teheran is either very near to or already in possession of enough low-enriched uranium to produce one nuclear weapon, if the decision were made to further enrich it to weapons-grade. "This ongoing enrichment activity ... moves Iran closer to a dangerous and destabilizing possible breakout capacity," Davies told the agency's 35-nation board of governors. (Jerusalem Prayer Team)

- Please pray that the US State Department does deny Ahmadinejad a visitor's visa to enter our nation. When he came last year, he insulted President Bush but escaped censorship. If the UN were located in another country, the "mouth from Iran" might do as he pleases, but this nation supports freedom, a seemingly alien concept to the puppet head of Iran. Ask the Lord to intervene.

- "Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity." (Psalm 64:2)

5. IRAN SNUBS BARAK OBAMA'S NUCLEAR TALKS

Iran has dealt a blow to one of President Barack Obama's most ambitious diplomatic initiatives by dismissing demands to put its nuclear programme at the heart of direct talks with the United States.

Less than 48 hours after Washington and its allies reluctantly accepted an offer of face-to-face negotiations from Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, insisted that the topic of greatest interest to the West would not be on the table.

"From the Iranian nation's viewpoint, the nuclear case is closed," he told Britain's ambassador to Tehran, Simon Gass. "Having peaceful nuclear technology is Iran's lawful and definite right and Iranians will not negotiate with anyone over their undeniable rights."

In a rambling five-page document presented to western diplomats last week, Iran proposed negotiations on a wide array of economic and regional security issues but made no mention of its nuclear activities. Ahmadinejad also indicated that the prospect of negotiations had made him no less combative by breaking with protocol to upbraid Britain. "The Iranian people will never allow anybody to interfere in the country's internal affairs, and I hope the British government will repair its past mistakes," he told Mr Gass. - As the current administration recovers from this blow, pray that they be granted "wisdom from above" to know the next steps to take. Mr. Obama had planned to introduce a "UN Resolution on Global Nuclear Disarmament" during his tenure this month as President of the U.N. Security Council -- a centerpiece of his time in that chair. Pray that the president will seek the wisdom of God to know how to proceed next. Amen.

6. OBAMA-NETANYAHU-ABBAS SUMMIT SCHEDULED FOR SEPT. 22 IN NEW YORK

The Obama administration has scheduled a tripartite US-Israeli-Palestinian summit at UN center in New York for Sept 22, DEBKAfile's Washington sources report, the day before the US president meets Russian president Dmitry Medvedev at the UN General Assembly. The three leaders will declare Middle East peace talks resumed from that point.

DEBKAfile's political sources note that the summit will require prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu, defense minister Ehud Barak, and foreign minister Lieberman to be absent from Israel over the New Year Festival. Saudi King Abdullah and Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, are working hard to beat the rival Palestinian side into shape and force them to bury the hatchet, at least ad hoc, in order to send a united delegation to the peace talks. Their heavy arm-twisting has kept Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal and their parties airborne between Gaza, Damascus, Cairo and Riyadh for the last couple of weeks. A prisoner trade to free the Israeli soldier Gilead Shalit was not on their agenda.

The two rulers have no assurance of success having consistently failed in previous attempts to bring the warring Palestinian factions together but this time they have been warned that they risk a cutoff of support and funds. A joint Palestinian delegation would confront Israeli leaders with having to negotiate with Hamas representatives. (DEBKAfile Exclusive Report)

- These three leaders - Obama, Netanyahu, Abbas - can talk until red, blue, green in the face but nothing will be accomplished against the Lord's will for Israel. Pray for PM Netanyahu as he tries to deal rationally with people plotting the demise of Israel. Pray that our American president will say and do nothing that will deepen the Lord's judgment on our nation. Be on your knees for Sept. 22.

- "You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man's presence, for the judgment is God's. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it." (Deuteronomy1:17)

7. TRIPARTITE SUMMIT: ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE

Talks to take place during the Jewish New Year

I'm struggling to come up with an adequate parallel, but this would be something akin to China demanding, on short notice, that the U.S. president, VP and Secretary of State come to a special meeting in China on Christmas Day to meet with the Russians, Iranians and North Koreans to talk about how much land Mexico should get in Texas, Arizona and California.
