1. Azerbaijan police foil Iran plot to assassinate Israel ambassador - UK Telegraph

Police in Azerbaijan have foiled an Iranian plot to assassinate Israel's ambassador and other prominent Jews in apparent revenge for the killing of nuclear scientists in Tehran, officials in the former Soviet state claimed.

- Lord, we thank You for foiling this plot, and pray for Your protection over Israel's entire leadership. We bind the spirit of murder that constantly tries to destroy Israel.

- "For the Lord loves justice, and does not forsake His saints; they are preserved forever, but the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off." [Psalm 37:28]

2. Iran Preparing Now for Armageddon -WND

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has held several secret meetings with his economic and military advisers in recent days to prepare for the possibility of war with the United States.

- Father, You are the "Supreme Leader" and there is no other. Let every plot and device by the enemies of Your Name be brought to nothing.

Held captive since last fall, an ailing American woman and a Danish man were safely on their way home after a bold, dark-of-night rescue by U.S. Navy SEALs.

- Lord, we rejoice that our U.S. Navy Seal Team is so expert at rescue insertions. We pray Your mighty protection over these men in coming days, remembering that after they killed Bin Laden a tragedy struck their unit. We call forth the Blood of Jesus over them, a hedge of the Fire of God around them, and Your Holy Spirit to touch their hearts and minds.

4. Bernanke says Fed pondering further stimulus - Reuters

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said on Wednesday the central bank was ready to offer the economy additional stimulus after it announced it would likely keep interest rates near zero until at least late 2014.

- Lord, as the economy continues to struggle, we thank you for keeping interest rates low for the people who desperately need them. We do ask, however, that Mr. Bernanke and his financial advisers find You in the midst of the problems, and that Your wisdom would prevail over his decisions.

5. Obama Pushes for New Taxes, More Spending in State of the Union - NewsMax

Attempting to lay out his blueprint for an "economy that's built to last," an often impassioned, even defiant Obama vowed Tuesday night to fight obstructionism in Congress and return to a "fairness for all and responsibility from all" approach in his third State of the Union.

- Father, we must not be deceived by words, but stand firm against tyranny in any of its forms. The mouth speaks from the heart, is a reminder to us all to be wise in listening to any speeches during the election season.

6. Pentagon budget to cut military, cancel programs - Reuters

The Pentagon will preview a budget proposal this week that begins to implement $487 billion in spending cuts over the next decade by trimming the size of the military and canceling or scaling back some weapons programs.

- Lord, as we face budget cuts during a time of war against terror, and enemies whose desire is to completely destroy our way of life, we pray for wisdom and military strategies for our leaders. But most of all, we pray for reliance upon You as our protection, and the counsel of the Most High as our guide.

7. House Bills Promote Religion at War Memorials - Military.Com

The House on Tuesday passed two bills endorsing the use of religious symbols at military memorials. One writes into law the propriety of displaying religious markers at war memorials while the other orders that the Interior Department add to the World War II Memorial in Washington a plaque with Franklin Roosevelt's prayer to the nation on D-Day.

- Father, we rejoice at the passage of these two bills, and we pray that the Senate will follow suit. The foundations of America are at stake! We ask that You will take the opportunity to move among the members of Congress, bringing truth and life to their lives.

1. Palestinians: Peace negotiations with Israel have ended - Ha'aretz

The time frame that the Palestinians have allowed for talks with Israel in Amman under Jordanian auspices expires on Thursday. According to diplomatic sources associated with the Middle East Quartet - the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia - last-minute efforts are underway to head off the talks' collapse, but the prospects seem slim.

2. Palestinians say fifth Amman meeting will be last - Jerusalem Post

Palestinian Authority officials said Wednesday that a fifth meeting between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Amman scheduled for later in the day would be the final meeting, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.

3. Israel to UN: Tomorrow will be too late for action against Iran - Ha'aretz

"Iran's efforts to develop nuclear weapons represent the greatest threat to peace and security in the world," Israel's United Nations Envoy Ron Prosor said. "The silence of the Security Council will be very costly. You must act today. Tomorrow will be too late."

4. UN chief to visit Israel, Palestinian territories - Jerusalem Post

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will visit Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jordan in a Middle East tour supporting the peace process, Ban said Wednesday.

Pro-Palestinian hackers brought down Haaretz's Hebrew website on Wednesday, after several Israeli websites were targeted earlier in the day.

6. Ashton, UNRWA chief sign $72M Palestinian aid agreement - Ynet News

The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, and the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Chief, Filippo Grandi, signed a $72 million financing agreement towards the Agency's General Fund.

New York Police Force bullied by Islam on anti-terrorism training

The New York Times has taken on the city's police department for showing a training film to some 1,400 police officers depicting the terrorist threat posed by Islamists. The film reportedly states that "much of Muslim leadership here in America" is to "infiltrate and dominate" the United States. Of course, the film has drawn the ire of Muslims and Muslim civil rights groups. The police department is now backing off from its decision to show the film that, according to the Times, "amid images of assassinations, bombings and executions, portrays many mainstream American Muslim leaders as closet radical Islamists, and states that their "primary tactic" is deception."

That Islamist civil rights groups, such as the Council on American Islamic Relations and its affiliates, would fight so hard to prevent police from understanding the Islamic creed of colonizing, radicalizing, and taking over the United States is an obvious and blatant attempt to propagandize the deception of the Islamic movement in America. Evidence suggests that the FBI and Homeland Security are routinely arresting home-grown terrorists who are Islamic or Islamic converts. To run away from the concept of the film is to avoid reality. Preventing law enforcement and the military from understanding the true nature of Islam in America is tantamount to withholding information that could save lives and preserve the nation.

There is no better or concise information about the intentions of cult of Islam in America than what was submitted as evidence by the US Government in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation Trial in Texas. The Muslim Brotherhood plan is to conduct a massive "Concept of Settlement" by coordinating Islamic Centers, news and entertainment media, infiltration of the government, the courts, the congress and various civic and youth organizations to colonize the United States. The plan stated: "The process of settlement is a "Civilization-Jihadist Process" with all the word means...work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house..."

Islam is playing for keeps. And for some reason our very own government, under the leadership of a president raised as a Muslim, refuses to accept that Islam is an internal threat to America. From the military to the local police departments, every soldier and officer should know the true intent and methods of this threat. There is a total lack of discernment by America's leadership, and, for the most part, by America's citizenry. This so-called religion of peace is anything but. Jeremiah 8:11 says, For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace." There is no peace with Islam. It is a false religion, a tyrannical political system, and an evil destroyer of life and liberty.

State of the Union Address Creates Controversy

Many Turned Off by State of the Union Address

U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn was not the only federal official to skip Obama's annual State of the Union address Tuesday.

As cameras scanned the audience assembled in the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, it was hard to miss the fact that only five of the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices were present - Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. and Justices Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan.

Though Justice Sonia Sotomayor - one of Obama's appointees - was likely on her way to Guam, where she's scheduled to speak at an upcoming judicial conference, conservative Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas were conspicuously absent. (By Karla Dial; CitizenLink) Read more.

Free-Speech Case Appealed to Supreme Court

The Thomas More Law Center on Tuesday appealed the case of a Southern California teacher to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Bradley Johnson, a high school math teacher in the Poway Unified School District near San Diego, had banners hanging in his classroom for 25 years with mottos such as "In God We Trust," "One Nation Under God" and "God Bless America."

For the last 30 years, the school district has had a policy allowing teachers to use their classrooms for displays of personal belief - a policy other teachers at Johnson's school have taken advantage of by hanging up Tibetan prayer flags and posters of the Dalai Lama, Malcolm X and Hindu sayings.

In 2007, the school told Johnson his banners needed to be removed, while the other displays remained. A federal district court in 2008 upheld Johnson's First Amendment rights, but a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the decision last year - then turned down a request for an en banc hearing by the full court.

That leaves the U.S. Supreme Court as a last resort, said Thomas More Law Center President Richard Thompson.

"This case is a prime example of how public schools across our nation are cleansing our classrooms of our Christian heritage, while promoting atheism and other non-Christian religions under the guise of cultural diversity," he said. (Citizen Link) Read more.

- Pray fervently over this critical case in southern California for the rights of our citizens to uphold our freedom of speech as Christians! Decree that the decision rendered by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will be overruled by the U.S. Supreme Court. Pray!

New York Senate Committee Passes Church/School Bill

Measure would change state law to allow houses of worship to meet in public school buildings.
A New York State Senate committee passed a bill on Tuesday as the first step toward overriding a New York City policy banning churches from holding weekend worship services in rented public schools.

The city's Department of Education gave churches their eviction notice in late December, after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to rule on a 16-year-old viewpoint-discrimination case of a church in the Bronx that was kicked out of a public school. The city has given some 60-odd churches serving primarily poor neighborhoods until Feb. 12 to find other facilities to call home.
I salute the New York State Senate Education Committee on taking bold and decisive action on this important issue," said New York City Councilman Fernando Cabrera, who has urged state legislators to take up the churches' cause. "I am confident the Assembly will follow suit, and urge Gov. (Andrew) Cuomo to sign the legislation when it reaches his desk."

If the bill does not pass, New York City apparently would be the first major city nationwide to ban churches from meeting in public schools. Several peaceful demonstrations protesting the policy have already taken place; Cabrera, who is also a pastor, was one of several people arrested for a show of civil disobedience earlier this month.

Church supporters have scheduled a protest march across the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday.

- Again, pray that this bill would PASS in the New York State Senate committee. May our people be free to assemble in public buildings, when available, for the purposes of worship. May God be praised for this development in New York State. Pray, too, for the protection of all who are marching in protest over the original ruling in New York City. Pray!

Two Pro-Life Measures Introduced in Congress

The March for Life may be over, but the momentum has carried on right into the U.S. Capitol, where two men are doing their part to put feet to the prayers of millions of American seeking to restore the right to life in our nation.

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) is kicking things off with a push to ban D.C. abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy, when it's widely believed that babies can feel pain. "It will emphasize the humanity of the child and the inhumanity of what is being done to them," Rep. Franks told the Washington Post. As chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee that handles the District, he is all but guaranteed a vote on the House floor

Meanwhile, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has filed the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act, which, like Texas's law, requires doctors to perform an ultrasound and describe the baby's development before a woman consents to abort. So far, the measure has 44 co-sponsors. Encourage your member to become one of them. Contact your representatives and ask them to support the Franks and Jordan bills.

Focus: Arizona Governor

Tension On The Tarmac

Yesterday Barack Obama flew to Arizona and was met on the tarmac by Governor Jan Brewer. Brewer handed the president an envelope with a handwritten letter inviting him to visit the border with her and talk about how the economy in Arizona is improving. Obama wasn't interested.
Instead, according to CBS News, "What she got was a critique. Of her book." In her book, "Scorpions for Breakfast," Brewer recounts an Oval Office meeting in which she said Obama lectured her about Arizona's tough anti-illegal immigration law. Evidently, Obama was offended by her depiction of the meeting and took the opportunity to relay his displeasure. Surprised by the president's reaction, Brewer asked if Obama had actually read the book. He said he had read excerpts.

It was obvious from their body language that the president and the governor were having a tense exchange. When asked what transpired, Brewer told reporters yesterday, "Bottom line is that he generally wants to talk about amnesty and I want to talk about securing our border." She later added that Obama seemed "thin-skinned." Indeed he is.

- Offer praise for the courage shown by Arizona Governor Janice Brewer in standing strong for the rights of the citizens of Arizona against an administration that seems to have deaf ears on the matters of immigration and the economy. Stand in the gap for the rudeness shown her by the sitting president. May he yet understand the ways of godly leadership, to behave as a statesman in all matters that concern him. In Jesus Name, amen.

The Good News Corner:

Man Lost Two Days on Mt. Rainier Marched to "Amazing Grace"

(Tacoma, WA)-Nearly every weekend for the last decade, 66-year-old experienced outdoorsman Yong Chun Kim has gone snowshoeing in Washington's Cascade Mountains.

But, on Saturday, January 14, when Kim led a group of friends on a trek on Mount Rainier, he reportedly fell 150 yards down a steep slope in whiteout conditions and then fell again, ultimately getting buried over his head in snow.

According to a King 5 News report, Kim-armed with only the barest essentials-was able to make his way to a tree where he could take refuge.

Meanwhile, nearly 50 hours after the accident, Kim's family was said to have nearly lost all hope that he had survived or would be found. But not so, Kim.

Pictures Kim took of himself during his ordeal show a smiling, faith-filled face and, indeed, he was staying alive by marching in place while singing Gospel tunes in Korean. . . especially "Amazing Grace."

The report notes that Kim had a "song in his heart and a fire in his belly," that helped him survive and he has no intention of giving up his weekly expeditions on the mountain.

"It takes me close to God," he said.

1. Homeland Security Wants to Spy on 4 Square Miles at Once - Wired News

It's not just for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars anymore. The Department of Homeland Security is interested in a camera package that can peek in on almost four square miles of (Constitutionally protected) American territory for long, long stretches of time. Homeland Security wants the video collected by the system to beam down in "near real time" - 12 seconds or quicker - to a control room and beyond line of sight (BLOS) ruggedized mobile receiver on the ground," just as military spy gear does. The camera should shift to infrared mode for nighttime snooping.

The Army's super-powerful ARGUS camera, heading to Afghanistan, can look out at 36 square miles at a time; the Air Force's Gorgon Stare looks out on an entire city at once. But, those systems are used against insurgents, who are not protected by the Fourth Amendment's prohibitions on unreasonable searches. Even if the wide-area surveillance DHS is just used at borders or airports, those are still places where Americans go about their business, under the presumption that they're not living in a government panopticon. It's hardly clear from the pre-solicitation that the department only expects to operate the cameras after getting a court order - or if it thinks it needs one in the first place.

- Intercessors, it sometimes seems questionable whose side the Department of Homeland Security is actually on; particularly in the light of Janet Napolitano and the White House's crafted list of potential homeland terrorist threats which includes - returning veterans, "right wing" Christians, pro-life citizens, and legal arms owners. No mention of Islamic Terrorists on the DHS's list! As you pray, BIND this tendency of governing powers to make law abiding citizens " the enemy." Pray for righteous leaders who determine policies with respect for Constitutional law; pray for leaders who respect the rights of law abiding American citizens.

2. Supreme Court: GPS devices equivalent of a search, police must get warrant - Fox News

In a rare defeat for law enforcement, the Supreme Court unanimously agreed on Monday to bar police from installing GPS technology to track suspects without first getting a judge's approval. The justices made clear it wouldn't be their final word on increasingly advanced high-tech surveillance of Americans. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said the court's decision was "a victory for privacy rights and for civil liberties in the digital age." He said the ruling highlighted many new privacy threats posed by new technologies. Leahy has introduced legislation to update the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, a 1986 law that specifies standards for government monitoring of cellphone conversations and Internet communications.

- Thank You, Lord, that we are finally seeing some concrete actions in favor of protecting America's citizens from the overwhelming potential abuses of personal privacy through the use of technology. We pray that technological advances will not replace the protections and liberties granted by the American Constitution.

3. Supreme Court Asked to Permit Religious Banners in Calif. Classroom - NewsMax

A conservative public-interest law group is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that a mathematics teacher near San Diego must remove banners mentioning religion from his classroom. The district has fought since 2007 to force Bradley Johnson to remove banners saying "In God We Trust," "One Nation Under God," and "God Bless America" from his classroom at Westview High School in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, told the Times Tuesday that the school board's decision "is a prime example of how public schools across our nation are cleansing our classrooms of our Christian heritage while promoting atheism and other non-Christian religions under the guise of cultural diversity."

- To think, O Lord, that a school district would insist that the motto of the United States of America may not be displayed before school children because it refers to You!! We repent before You on behalf of our nation's rebellion. We pray that the 9th Circuit Court ruling will be completely repealed. Lord, give the Supreme Court the mind of Christ in their ruling. We pray that believers all across this land will arise with a unified and formidable voice against this attempt to culturally cleanse America from Christianity. We pray for the mighty wind of the Holy Spirit to flow through our school age youngsters who have been willfully deprived of the knowledge of You, that their eyes will be open to You and Your great love.

-" But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!" (Matthew 18:6,7)

4. Judge's order in 'birther' case unlikely to draw Obama - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Even though Obama has been summoned to a court hearing here Thursday, don't expect this guy to come.

In a surprising ruling Friday, a Georgia state administrative judge declined to quash a subpoena directing Obama to attend a hearing Thursday at the Fulton County courthouse on a challenge to strike him from the Georgia ballot this fall on claims he is not a natural born U.S. citizen. Read more.

- In this day of great national debt, it is an outrage to think of the millions of taxpayer dollars that have funded Obama's personal legal battles as he fights to hide his documents from the nation. Lord, bless the efforts of those who have pressed hard, and sacrificed financially, to bring about truthful revelation in this ongoing saga of the documents Obama has chosen to, and succeeded in, hiding from the public - college records, birth records, health records, law school records... Lord, speedily bring forth all those facts that have been inappropriately hidden! May this nation's voters be awake and aware, questioning why Obama has fought so hard to hide his past.

- "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4: 21-23)

5. IMF chief unveils euro plan and warns of '1930s moment' - UK Telegraph

IMF head Christine Lagarde set out Monday a raft of proposals to fight the eurozone crisis, including a bigger rescue fund, lower ECB rates and eurobonds as she warned of dimmer world growth prospects. And she had a dire warning for policymakers if they failed to do what was necessary, saying the world could slide into a "1930s moment" of isolationism, which led to the Great Depression and eventually to world war.

- Lord, draw the leaders of the nations to seek understanding from You as they struggle to solve financial problems on such a massive scale. There is no problem so great that You cannot bring answers and resolution, if mankind would just seek You! We pray for Your intervention in this financial crisis. We pray that everything the enemy has come to steal and destroy (John 10:10), will only result in the salvation of souls (1 Timothy 2:1), and the unleashing of Your great Glory in the affairs of men. In Jesus' Name.

1. PM: World silent while Iran, Hezbollah threaten to destroy Israel - Ynet News

"Seventy years have passed since the Holocaust, and many around the world still remain silent in the face of Iran's threats to wipe Israel off the map, and many stay silent despite Hezbollah's call for the destruction of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday during a special Knesset session ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which will be marked this week.

2. Withdrawal to '67 lines would signal conflict's end - Ynet News

Marwan Barghouti, former Fatah Secretary-General in the West Bank who is serving a life sentence in Israel for terror activities, told Ynet on Wednesday that "the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will end once Israel withdraws to the 1967 lines."

Safer than a mother's womb--not according to the US government

When I was growing up, sometimes I heard the expression "safer than a mother's womb" when someone was describing the risk associated with flying or driving a certain vehicle or performing a particular job on the farm. Now, a study that was at least partially funded with your hard earned tax money, says that an abortion is actually safer than delivering a baby to full term. This does not pass the straight face test let alone any moral or ethics standards. Think about it. These death culture moderators in the news media and in liberal ivory towers are saying that taking a pre-born life is safer than delivering it to full term. This is an indicator of the absurd and twisted mindset that has permeated American society.

The study, obviously conducted by pro-death researchers from Columbia University and the Guttmacher Institute, says that there is one death of a woman giving birth for every 11,000 babies born. This compares with one woman in 167,000 who has died following a legal abortion. The Columbia researchers used "data" collected by the Guttmacher Institute to conduct their study. Guttmacher is a pro-abort non profit that takes government money and turns it into propaganda for the "reproductive health" industry, not really a trusted source of data. Notwithstanding, this is the type of waste of taxpayer money and research time that the pro-death lobby spends on propaganda to encourage killing the pre-born.

Quite frankly, the Supreme Court in 1973 got it wrong when it ruled that an abortion was a Constitutional right to privacy. Congress got it wrong when it just silently went along with it. Over the years polls have suggested that the majority of Americans are against abortion. Americans have been stonewalled by politicians and powerful eugenics lobbies in overturning that Supreme Court decision. The "Roe" in Roe v. Wade has consistently denied that she was even pro-abortion and says she was used by the abortion supporters against her will. Abortion is murder. Every woman that I have talked to who has had an abortion regrets it--they all know that the decision they made killed a life growing within them.

What does this say about an America that not only allows the legal infanticide of its pre-born, but receives studies from a biased source promoting the safety of killing? Pslam 106:38-41 speaks of a nation like this: "And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. Therefore, was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people...and he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them." This one issue alone should propel us en mass to stand against such evil because an unjust law is no law at all.

The State of the Union Address

State of the Union - Religious Liberty or Abortion Tyranny?

Obama took credit for glimmers of hope in our struggling economy, the measure by which many define the state of our nation, but President Reagan's words in 1983 show the measure of our nation's real health: freedom and respect for life. Last week Obama took the anniversary of Roe v. Wade as a chance to recognize the "fundamental constitutional right" to abortion and to "continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams . . ."

Meanwhile HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that under Obamacare, businesses and organizations that offer employees health insurance must cover sterilization, contraceptives and birth control devices and medicines, including Ella, the abortifacient "morning after pill." Religious organizations will have until August 2013 "to adjust" to the new rules but only churches qualify for the narrow "religious exemption."

Businesses and other organizations, including religious non-profits (church affiliated schools, hospitals, and charities) must comply.

Cardinal-Designate Timothy Dolan reacted, "In effect, the President is saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences." FRC's Tony Perkins said, "This is the time to draw a line and take a stand . . .This is about the ability to live out your faith in public according to the teachings of your faith." - May God help Congress and the next President to overturn Obamacare, with its many unconstitutional provisions and it assault on Life. May the U.S. Supreme Court overturn the entire bill when it considers it this spring.

1. Syria rejects new Arab League plan to end violence - Fox News

Syria rejected Monday a new Arab League plan aiming to end the country's 10-month crisis by calling on the government and the opposition to form a national unity government within two months.

- Lord, we ask that leadership of Syria and the new Arab League become servants to you and fulfill the purposes You have for the people of Syria. We pray protection for innocent people and for those in Your kingdom. In Jesus name. Amen

4. Planes expected to reroute following massive solar eruption - Fox News

An immense blast of plasma spewed late Sunday night from the sun led to the strongest radiation storm bombarding our planet since 2005, and a rare warning from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency -- and even a plan to redirect certain high-flying airplanes.

NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center -- the nation's official source of warnings about space weather and its impact on Earth -- issued a watch for a geomagnetic storm expected to hit our planet Tuesday morning after a satellite witnessed an ultraviolet flash from the massive solar eruption, according to Spaceweather.com.

5. Supreme Court rejects Texas redistricting map - The Hill

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered a Texas court to take a renewed look at the redistricting maps drawn by the state legislature, saying the court had gone too far in enacting its own plan. The unanimous decision represented a partial victory for Republicans, but plunged the once-per-decade map-drawing process back into chaos ahead of the state's rapidly approaching congressional primaries. In an unsigned decision, the court ruled that a panel of federal judges who drew their own alternative to the GOP-controlled Legislature's initial map deviated too far from what state lawmakers had originally intended.

6. Sen. Mark Kirk suffers stroke - The Hill

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk (R) was hospitalized after experiencing a stroke, his office said Monday. "He was transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where further tests revealed that he had suffered an ischemic stroke," Kirk's office said, according to The Chicago Tribune. "Early this morning, the senator underwent surgery to relieve swelling around his brain stemming from the stroke. The surgery was successful."

Kirk's office said that doctors are confident that the 52-year-old senator would recover thanks to his "young age" and "good health."

- Lift up Senator Mark Kirk in prayer, asking our Lord to heal him by His stripes. Lift up the medical team that is working on his case, that they may be granted "wisdom from above" as they do so. In His Name, amen.

7. White House sides with TSA in Rand Paul standoff - The Hill

The White House is standing by the Transportation Security Administration in its standoff with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and his father, Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas). The elder Paul called the TSA a "police state" Monday after Rand Paul was reportedly detained by TSA after he refused to take a pat-down from TSA officials at the Nashville International Airport.

White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday that he didn't have any reaction to Paul's "police state" comments. But Carney sided with the TSA saying, "I think it is absolutely essential that we take necessary actions to ensure that air travel is safe." Read more.

- The U.S. Constitution actually protects federal lawmakers from detention while they're on the way to the capital.

"The Senators and Representatives . . . shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same . . ." according to Article I, Section 6.
Pray that all those in authority would memorize and adhere to every portion of the United States Constitution.

Pray that those in authority at the Transportation Security Agency would make an amend to this senator, who was only trying to do his job.

Celebrating the death of a child, of a generation of children

Have we become a people so advanced that the meaning of life is no longer celebrated? According to the man who occupies the Oval Office, the answer is "yes." The president, in celebrating the 39th anniversary of the Supreme Court denying the Constitutional right to life of the pre-born through Roe v. Wade, said the decision affirms a broader principle and ensures that America's daughters have the right to fulfill their dreams. The broader principle, says the president, is that government should not intrude on private family matters. If that were the case, however, the government would not be able to tax an individual, make health care mandatory, or ban prayer in public. But this "principle" is about child sacrifice...

Since 1973 an entire generation of Americans have been sacrificed on the altar of convenience. The guarantee of the unalienable Right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness has been brutally denied to some 50 million citizens. The Supreme Court was in error; the Congress refused to overturn it; the states that have tried to outlaw abortion have been stonewalled or struck down by the Supreme Court; and the president celebrates the deaths chalking them up to a bogus principle of government not interfering in our private lives. But even more disturbing was the president's immoral justification that abortion gives daughters freedom.

His exact words were: "And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams." Since when is there a Constitutional right to "fulfill a dream"? Given this Administration's record in raising debt, raising unemployment, increasing food stamp participation, fomenting home foreclosures, raising gasoline prices, and forcing back door taxation, can it even pass the straight face test that there is a jot or tittle care about Americans fulfilling their dreams? The horror in all this is that we have a president, politicians, political parties, even Christians, that celebrate abortion--genocide of the pre-born.

Near the ruins of Solomon's stables overlooking the Jezreel Valley, there is a round platform where pagans sacrificed their children. It is a ghastly, spiritually troubled place. It brings some verses to mind. In Jeremiah 2:34, the Lord says, "Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these." In Jeremiah 1:5, the Lord says, "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee." The Lord says in Deuteronomy 30:19, "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live." Blessing and cursing. Life and death. Repentance or judgment.

The Daily Jot - Part Two

The pathetic State of the Union and why it's prophetic

Joseph Curl of the Washington Times has written a preview of the 2012 State of the Union Address to be held on Tuesday when both houses of Congress meet to hear the man who occupies the Oval Office tell us about the condition of our nation. Curl brings up some very interesting facts. First, he says that there is only one person among the over 300 million of us in America who is not to blame for the dismal state of the union--that's the Commander in Chief. Curl says that the president blames every American in some way for the problems of this nation, most especially the previous president, the current Congress, even the Democratic leadership in the Congress. But not himself...

Curl goes on to point out several stark comparisons that those who are the proverbial frogs in the pot to boil may or may not have noticed as they are heating up. I think they are worth repeating. Curl, I'm sure, has validated each claim. Unemployment before the president took office was 6.8%, today it is 8.5%, but the Financial Times says that if the same number of people were seeking work in 2007 as are today, the rate would be 11%. Gas at the pump cost $1.68 a gallon in January 2009, it's up 102% today at $3.39. Average electric bills per household have increased to a record $1,420 a year, up some $300.

Poverty has increased by four million since the president took office--48% of all Americans are now considered "low income," 57% of children are living in poverty. Food stamp use has increased 48% since he took office, now one in seven Americans are using food stamps--14 million more than when he first took office. Curl says, "America's total public debt stands at $15.23 trillion; in January 2009, the debt was $10.62 trillion...[sic "the president"] is on pace to borrow $6.2 trillion in just one term--more debt than was amassed by all presidents from Washington through Bill Clinton combined." Sarcastically, Curl writes the the president "had not one thing to do with it. So don't blame him when you go to the polls. Blame everyone else, especially yourself."

This is the exact "remake" of America that Obama and his gang of socialists promised when he was elected in 2008. He told us exactly what he was going to do. Moreover, his actions both domestically and internationally are prophetic. Curl, through his sarcasm is right. It is the American voter who is to blame. All the signs were there--socialist idealism, Liberation Theology, Islamic sympathizing, and so on. Americans, through their vote determined their destiny. Exodus 18:21 gives us the qualifications of good leadership--"able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness." Our pathetic choice became prophetic. We must take responsibility otherwise we will reap more of what we have sown.

Pathetic Obama Fails Again

Remember when Obama flew to Europe to lobby for Chicago as a host city for the Olympic Games? He failed in his mission. Remember when he flew to Brazil to lobby for their oil from huge, newly-discovered reserves? Obama said, "We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and, when you're ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers."

Well guess what? We're not getting Brazil's oil either. China is. And this news came just as the Obama Administration was rejecting the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have brought us more oil from Canada.

I know there is a debate among some on the right as to whether Obama is just incompetent or doing exactly what he intends to do. I don't know the answer, but the result is the same and America is losing as a result.. . . (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day; excerpt)

Soros Sees Chaos

George Soros, the billionaire godfather of the political Left, is predicting class warfare and chaos in the streets of America. During a recent interview with Newsweek, Soros warns of "a decade of more stagnation" and possibly "a collapse of the financial system."

When asked about the potential for "riots on the streets of America," Newsweek reported that Soros "almost gleefully" responded, "Yes, yes, yes." Then Soros warns that the violence will be "an excuse for cracking down and using strong-arm tactics to maintain law and order, which . . . could bring about a repressive political system."

But what is the most likely source of the violence he is predicting? It's not the Tea Party.

Remember how the unions behaved in Wisconsin last year during the battle over collective bargaining rights? Remember the New Black Panthers blocking the doorway to a polling station? Democrat pollsters have warned that nearly one-third of Occupy Wall Street protestors "would support violence to advance their agenda." (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day)

- There is a word in the Hebrew language that cancels CHAOS.

That word is: SHALOM!

'Israel to Give Obama 12 Hours' Notice on Attacking Iran'

Israeli officials told visiting USS Chief Joint of Staffs Martin Dempsey that it would give President Barack Obama no more than 12 hours notice if and when it attacks Iran, The London Times reported Sunday. The Netanyahu government also will not coordinate with the United States an attack on the Islamic Republic, according to the report, the latest in a number of suposed scenarios concerning cooperation or lack of it between Jerusalem and Washington. It is left to speculation whether the rumors are based on facts or are leaked by officials to mask the possibility of secret military coordination.

The London Times said its sources explained that Israel fears that Obama would try to torpedo an Israel attack if more notice were given because he is concerned that Iran will respond by blocking the Strait of Hormuz, sparking a rise in the price of oil that could cripple Western economies. If the attack were to occur in the next 10 months, it would put President Obama in a tight spot on the eve of his bid for re-election.

President Shimon Peres told Dempsey, "I am sure that in this fight [against Iran] we will emerge victorious. It is a fight that does not belong exclusively to the United States or Israel, but a global struggle to create a safe world for all peoples."

Dempsey, on his first official visit to Israel, was wined and dined by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gants, who went so far as to arrange an IDF orchestra rendition of song made famous by Frank Sinatra, one of Dempsey's favorite singers.
Dempsey tried to play down the postponement of what was billed as the largest-ever joint military drill between the Israeli and American armies, involving thousands of U.S. Army soldiers. Published reasons for the delay have ranged from budgetary constraints, logistical problems to a signal from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that he distrusts President Obama's commitment to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Dempsey maintained that the delay, which was announced by Israel, will give both countries more time to prepare and "achieve a better outcome."

1. Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords to resign from Congress - Fox News

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords announced Sunday that she has "more work to do" on her recovery after an assassination attempt and will resign from her congressional seat this week. In a video release posted on her website and tweeted from her Twitter handle, the congresswoman said that she is getting better but wants to do what's right for her constituents.

News of Giffords' decision spread quickly. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi issued a statement saying that Giffords "has been a true bright star." "Gabby's message of bipartisanship and civility is one that all in Washington and the nation should honor and emulate," said Pelosi, who was informed of the decision ahead of the announcement.

Republicans also expressed their appreciation for Giffords. "We salute Rep. Giffords for her service, & for the courage & perseverance she has shown in the face of tragedy. She will be missed," tweeted House Speaker John Boehner.

As one of her last acts as a member of Congress, Giffords will attend the State of the Union speech Tuesday evening at the Capitol. Read more.

2. Arizona to Hold Special Election to Fill Gifford's Seat - Fox News

Giffords will submit her letter of resignation later this week to Boehner and Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. Brewer will set the date for a special primary and general elections within 72 hours of Giffords' resignation. Both votes will likely be held by the end of June. Another regularly scheduled general election will be held in November.

- Begin to pray now for the voters in this district in Arizona, that they will know the man or woman of God's choosing to fill Ms. Gifford's seat in this special election.

3. Countdown to State of the Union - CNN

Obama is "very engaged" in preparing his Tuesday State of the Union address, but "not at a stage yet where he's practicing," according to White House spokesman Jay Carney. Carney told reporters Friday that the president continued to work with his chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau, on his remarks. The Constitution requires the president ". . . shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union. . ."

- The State of the Union Address will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24th. We continue to ask prayer for protection for all who are gathered in the Capitol Building that night.
These officials will include: Obama, and Vice- President and natural born citizen and, every member of the House and the Senate, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the head of every cabinet agency, and the nine Justices of the United States Supreme Court. [One cabinet director will be asked to stand down as a security precaution.] Pray!

4. Boehner: Obama State of the Union proposals sound 'pathetic' - Fox News

House Speaker John Boehner on Sunday insisted that the next year will be spent on policy, not politics, but said it's "pathetic" if President Obama tries to offer the "same old" ideas at Tuesday's State of the Union that he's been offering in the past three years.

The speaker, appearing on "Fox News Sunday," said those policies haven't helped the economy. "They made it worse," he said. "And if that's what the president is going to talk about Tuesday night, I think it's pathetic. I think it's time for the president to listen to his own jobs council. It's time to go in a new direction."

The United States warned on Friday that it may soon close its embassy in Syria due to the worsening security situation, a move that could exacerbate tensions between Washington and Damascus over its bloody crackdown on protests.

China urges Iran to resume talks

The US Navy sent the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf on Sunday, a day after Iranian officials tried to save face by telling reporters that the presence of the US military in the region was a long established fact and not a threat to all the people living in the region that the Islamic Republic would vigorously resist, as they have repeatedly said in recent months. Warships from Britain and France, as well as the carrier's usual escorts, accompanied the Lincoln, with no resistance whatsoever from Iranian forces. . . Read more

2. Assad regime angrily rejects Arab League 'interference' - ICEJ News

Iran sends Hezbollah to guard assets in Syria

The regime of Syrian president Bashar Assad angrily rejected an Arab League proposal on Monday that would have seen Assad step down and be replaced by his deputy, declaring the idea to be "flagrant interference" in Syria's "internal affairs." The plan was hammered out during an Arab League meeting on Sunday in Cairo. Read more.

3. Christians in Iran and Syria under intense persecution - ICEJ News

Various Christian media reports have shown a sharp rise in attacks against churches and pastors in Iran and Syria over the last month. Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who has become a symbol of government brutality against Christians, is on death row and has refused to renounce his faith and convert to Islam in exchange for release.

"After the ethnic cleansing of Jews in 1948 from the Arab countries, Islamic fundamentalism is now trying to push away the Christians from the region" Giulio Meotti, an Italian journalist with Il Foglio told the Jerusalem Post. "They want to establish a pure Islamic environment and the mass exodus already began under our noses. In Syria Christians will be persecuted after Assad's eventual fall, since they were the most loyal allies of the Baathist regime. Christians will be slaughtered or squeezed. From Cairo to Damascus, Arab Christian era is near to its end everywhere."

4. Israel vigilantly guarding against Iranian attacks - ICEJ News

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz reportedly discussed the "transatlantic smuggling" of military equipment from Iran to its terrorist proxies in the region with US Chairman of the Joint chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey during the latter's recent visit.

Gantz expressed Israel's desire to increase international cooperation against the phenomenon, building on earlier discussions he'd had with his European counterparts during a recent NATO summit in Brussels. "This is extremely complicated since it requires intelligence to know which boat is carrying what, as well as new maritime laws to enable navies to board and seize ships," a senior defense official explained.

Meanwhile, an Iranian official made an emotional statement at a memorial service to assassinated Iranian nuclear scientists on Friday, declaring that "the Zionist regime should be punished in a way that it can't play such games with our country again."

NEW NAVY BUDGET THREATENS CARRIERS

As Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta prepares to introduce the strategy's first budget next month, the Navy has been in a furious fight behind the scenes to protect only 10 carriers, sources familiar with the issue told The Washington Times.

The sources say that, while the fiscal 2013 budget may well continue 11 carriers, the Navy will be down to 10 or even nine carriers within in the next five years.

Under Mr. Panetta, the Pentagon has clamped down on the release of any details about the budget - following the model of predecessor Robert M. Gates, who forced senior officials to sign nondisclosure forms.

But sources say a $488 billion in mandated savings will come from two principal sources: cutting the Army and Marine Corps ground forces by more than 100,000 troops combined and reducing the purchase and delaying the procurement of big weapons systems, such as the F-35 fighter. Focus: Congressional Record for 2011

CONGRESS: 2011 MOST FUTILE LEGISLATIVE YEAR ON RECORD

It's official: Congress ended its least-productive year in modern history after passing 80 bills - fewer than during any other session since year-end records began being kept in 1947.
Furthermore, an analysis by The Washington Times of the scope of such activities as time spent in debate, number of conference reports produced and votes taken on the House and Senate floors found that Congress set a record for legislative futility by accomplishing less in 2011 than any other year in history.

The Senate's record was weakest by a huge margin, according to the futility index, and the House had its 10th-worst session on record.

Of the bills the 112th Congress did pass, the majority were housekeeping measures, such as naming post office buildings or extending existing laws. Sometimes, it was too difficult for the two chambers to hammer out agreements. More often, the Senate failed to reach agreement within the chamber.

That left much of the machinery of the federal government on autopilot, with the exception of spending, where monumental clashes dominated the legislative session.

"Absent unified party control with a bolstered Senate majority, I think it's just very hard to get things done, particularly in a period when revenues aren't growing and the decisions are how to cut, and how to cut in the long term," said Sarah Binder, who studies Congress as a Brookings Institution scholar and professor at George Washington University. "Congress just isn't very good at solving long-term problems." (Washington Times) Read more.

Pray that our legislators will be sensitive to the needs of our populous and that they be granted wisdom for how best to address those needs with the stressed 2012 budget. Pray for reconciliation between the House and the Senate on the important issues which include the economy and national defense.

Impact of Supreme Court Ruling on Prayer

Supreme Court's denial of legislative prayer case results in uncertainty
and altered prayer policies

Last week, the Supreme Court declined to review a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Forsyth County v. Joyner, which held that a North Carolina county commission's practice of opening meetings with prayer was unconstitutional. The Fourth Circuit reasoned that although the prayer policy was neutral on its face, it violated the Establishment Clause because it resulted in prayers that too often mentioned "Jesus." The Supreme Court's decision this week allows the Fourth Circuit's decision to stand, meaning the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners can open meetings in prayer only if it monitors the content of the prayers to ensure that they are not "too sectarian." However, "several commissioners said prayer may not be brought back since a specific deity can no longer be mentioned."

In response to the Supreme Court's decision, reports indicate that the ACLU plans to contact between twenty-five and thirty other local government bodies across North Carolina to direct them to alter their prayer policies. One city council has already modified its policy, completely removing prayer and replacing it with a moment of silence. The city attorney "said the ACLU had sent them an email shortly after the [Supreme Court's ruling], saying they would potentially consider legal action on behalf of local citizens to end sectarian prayer." Other public deliberative bodies are also concerned about the legality of their prayer policies. According to an attorney for the Alliance Defense Fund-the religious liberty law firm that defended Forsyth County-the Supreme Court's decision to refrain from clarifying the law on this issue "means that, for the time being, the standard for prayer policies in the 4th Circuit will be different from the standard held by the rest of the country."

In November 2011, Members of the Prayer Caucus joined the Family Research Council in submitting an amicus curiae brief asking the Supreme Court to take up the case and reverse the Fourth Circuit's decision. Members of the Prayer Caucus will continue working to preserve the freedom of deliberative bodies across the nation to engage in the important tradition of opening sessions with prayer. Norma McCorvey on Roe v. Wade

"I think abortion's wrong . . ."

JANUARY 22, 1973, the Supreme Court decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton allowed abortion in all nine months of pregnancy.

23 years later, Norma McCorvey, who was the "Jane Roe" in the Roe v. Wade suit, was interviewed by USA Today. She stated that once, while employed at a clinic when no one was in:

"I went into the procedure room and laid down on the table . . . trying to imagine what it would be like having an abortion . . .I broke down and cried."
On ABC's World News Tonight, Norma McCorvey said: "I think abortion's wrong. I think what I did with Roe v. Wade was wrong."

On November 3, 2005, former Democrat President Jimmy Carter stated to reporters at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, DC, regarding his book, Our Enduring Values -America's Moral Crisis:

"I never have felt that any abortion should be committed-I think each abortion is the result of a series of errors . . . I've never been convinced, if you let me inject my Christianity into it, that Jesus Christ would approve abortion."

Jimmy Carter concluded:

Arab IDF soldier: Proud to serve my country

Muslim soldier serving as medic on IAF's special airborne search and rescue unit is candidate to become airborne medic

While many Jewish youngsters evade military service, 20-year-old Shirin Shlian of Galilee encourages high school students to join combat units. 'It's part of the good education I received at home,' she explains.

Can a person be both Arab and Zionist? The answer appears to be yes.

Ask Shirin Shlian, a 20-year-old IDF soldier from one of the Galilee's Arab villages, whose job in the Israeli army is to encourage high school students to enlist - and better yet, to join combat units.

While many Jewish youngsters are doing their best to evade military service, the story of the Shlian family sounds pretty unbelievable: Shirin isn't the only one serving in the IDF - her brother is a major in a combat unit and another brother served in the Border Guard.

"Many Arabs and Jews ask me why I joined the IDF," Shirin tells her friends in the northern city of Nazareth Illit. "Especially Jews who hear that I'm an Arab and don't understand what business I have in the army and why I enlisted.

"It must be the good education I received at home. I smile to everyone and don't argue with anyone."

Shirin was drafted several months ago and underwent a youth instructors' course. As part of her job, the visits high schools in Nazareth Illit and talks to with 11th and 12th graders about enlisting in the army.

"I give the students a lesson about the first draft notice, IDF enlistment and the jobs the army has to offer. In addition, I hold personal conversations with each student with the aim of encouraging them to have a significant and contributing service.

"The students applaud me for my decision to volunteer, enlist - and make a contribution to the State."

Nonetheless, to be on the safe side, Shirin slips out of her uniform and wears plain clothes instead as she heads home, in order to prevent any harassment from those who may disapprove of her service. She says, however, "I'm not afraid of anyone. I have not received any threats."

Shirin concludes, "I am very proud of my military service. I have always dreamed of joining the IDF and making a contribution to my country."

She says her boyfriend supports her decision to serve in the army as well.

Nazareth Illit Mayor Shimon Gapso has only good things to say about her: "Soldier Shirin serves as a positive example. There are many more like her in Nazareth Illit, a city which symbolizes coexistence between all of its parts." (Israel National News) Read more.

1. 'Radioactive material stolen from Egypt plant' - Jerusalem Post

Radioactive material has been stolen from a nuclear power station on Egypt's Mediterranean coast that was the site of violent protests last week, state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported on Thursday. A safe containing radioactive material at the Dabaa nuclear power plant was seized while another safe containing radioactive material was broken open and part of its contents taken, the newspaper said.

- Father we pray that this radioactive material will be quickly found or destroyed before it is used to construct any devices of mass destruction.

2. Congress puts anti-piracy bill on backburner amid uproar - Fox News

Congressional leaders announced Friday that they are putting controversial anti-online piracy legislation on the backburner, amid widespread objections from the tech community and others.

Earlier in the week, major websites and Internet companies protested the proposal. Wikipedia blacked out its site for a day, while Google circulated a petition that generated more than seven million signatures. The White House also raised concerns about the proposal over the weekend, though later claimed the president was not taking sides.

3. House GOP to push for pipeline despite Obama move - AP

House Republicans say a fresh push for a 1,700-mile Canada-to-Texas pipeline could be part of a new round of negotiations over extending the payroll tax cut and benefits for the long-term unemployed, after the President nixed the pipeline.

- Abba, we ask for Your wisdom to be displayed among the lawmakers regarding this oil pipeline. We do ask for understanding - not only for Congress - but also for the President, as to what needs to happen regarding this pipeline to best benefit America, and American interests. We ask, that as a people, we would seek Your face to know what is the best course of action. May we not continue to be dependent on foreign oil - when we have so many resources of our own - and can also put more people back in the work force, as we deal with this situation. We thank You for Your strength, mercy, and grace.

4. Protesters to demonstrate outside US courthouses - AP

Protesters plan to "occupy" courthouses in more than 100 cities across the U.S. on Friday to protest a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that removed most limits on corporate and labor spending in federal elections.

- "Father, we are concerned about these many "occupy" groups that are trying to stir up strife and "class envy", and dissension. Lord, we ask that these people will have a revelation of how to express their opinions in peaceful ways that will not endanger the public, or cause any calamities. May they carry out their protests lawfully. We thank You, Lord, they are small in number, and pray they will not try to increase their numbers through violence and civil disobedience; but that, rather, engage in discussion of their ideas. In Your Name, we pray. Amen.

5. Floods, avalanches, outages all effects of Northwest storm - MSNBC

A day after more than a foot of snow, and 100 mph winds made Seattle streets look more like ski runs, freezing rain and accumulating ice shut runways at the city's airport Thursday and made travel even more treacherous, knocked out power to about 250,000 electric customers around Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia after it coated much of Washington in ice and swelled Oregon rivers, killing a child and two adults. Utility crews worked Friday to restore power to hundreds of thousands of Pacific Northwest residents left in the dark by the powerful snow and rain storm. Besides the outages, the big concern now is more flooding in both states with warmer temperatures and rain.

- Lord, we are humbled by the mighty power displayed by the weather, and thank You that You are the One who stills the seas and commands the winds to cease. We ask that no more lives will be lost through this tragedy, and that You would enable the rescue workers to do their important work of restoring utilities and roads and rescuing those stranded. We ask for a gradual warm-up to melt the snow at a pace that will prevent flooding. We also ask for the residents affected by this storm to find their comfort and peace in You! Amen.

6. 26 Homes burn as high winds fuel blaze near Reno - MSNBC

Firefighters worked Friday to hold the line on a fast-moving brush fire near Reno that forced more than 10,000 people to flee and destroyed more than 26 homes. Fire officials said one person was dead.

- Father, again we come to You and call upon Your mercy. We thank You these firefighters are doing their best to try and confine this fire and put it out. We ask You to protect them, and the property they are trying to save. Give them wisdom, and cause the winds to cease and be still. We ask that no more lives will be lost. May they cry out to You for their deliverance, and may they see You working on their behalf, we pray.

7. US home sales rise for third month - Breitbart

Sales of previously owned homes in the United States surged five percent in December from November, industry data showed Friday, in a report that pointed to recovery in the housing market.

- Father, we thank You for this good news of the gradual recovery of the housing market. We pray that this trend will continue and will not cause inflation. We ask that more Americans will be able to take advantage of lower prices to purchase homes for their families, and that also the job market would improve, so more people can afford to keep the homes they have, and/or buy new homes. Amen.

- "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" (Matt. 6:26,27)

Most of the websites shutdown by a hackers group were up and running early Friday including the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI and some entertainment sites targeted after one of the federal government's largest anti-piracy crackdowns.

- Lord, we ask that these computer "hackers" will not be able to cause havoc in compromising the privacy of individuals and their finances. We ask, Lord, especially for the security of our nation, that it not be compromised. We ask for wisdom for protecting these records of our nation against illegal hacking. Thank You, Lord, be our Shield!

1. Israel arrests senior Palestinian Aziz Dweik - BBC

A senior Palestinian politician and member of the militant group Hamas has been arrested by the Israeli army in the West Bank. Aziz Dweik, speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), was arrested at an army checkpoint, his chief of staff told AFP news agency.

2. Dempsey visits Israel amid regional tensions - ICEJ News

Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff visited IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv on Friday morning as a guest of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz, following an informal dinner the previous evening with the generals' wives. Dempsey had a full schedule, meeting with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres. Although many topics were no doubt discussed during the meetings, Iran was widely believed to be at the top of the list, as recent public statements have revealed a sharp disagreement between Washington and Jerusalem on the best way to confront the Islamic Republic's renegade nuclear program. Dempsey's trip was seen by many observers as an effort to reassure Israel as well as extract a promise not to attack Iran without coordinating with the US. Dempsey will also visit the Yad VaShem Holocaust Memorial Museum before departing Israel in the early evening.

3. Iran helping Syria avoid oil sanctions - ICEJ News

Syria's Oil Minister Sufian Allaw admitted during a press conference on Thursday that the Assad regime has lost more than $2 billion in revenues since September 1 as a result of European and US bans on importing Syrian oil, adding that "yhe oil embargo has caused a drop in production of 150,000 barrels, or $15 million, a day." The admission came even as reports surfaced that Iran is assisting the Assad regime in evading the sanctions, by taking Syrian crude to Iran and mixing it in with Iranian shipments, then funneling the profits back to Damascus after taking a small cut.

Turkey's prophetic influence

During the recent Republican presidential debate Fox News analyst Bret Baier asked Texas Governor Rick Perry: ". . . since the Islamist-oriented party took over in Turkey, the murder rate of women has increased 1,400 percent there. Press freedom has declined to the level of Russia. The prime minister of Turkey has embraced Hamas and Turkey has threatened military force against both Israel and Cypress. Given Turkey's turn, do you believe Turkey still belongs in NATO?" Perry responded, "Not only is it time for us to have a conversation about whether or not they belong to be in NATO, but it's time for the United States, when we look at their foreign aid, to go to zero with it."

Perry also said that many would perceive that Turkey is being ruled by Islamic terrorists. Tuesday, Turkey's foreign ministry condemned Perry for those remarks, saying they were "baseless and improper claims." Of course, the Republican candidates are using the opportunity to drive home that Perry is a foreign policy novice. Victoria Coates, Perry's foreign policy advisor, stepped forward with an explanation: "What he said was that many people associate that kind of behavior with that of Islamic terrorists. I think also their support for the flotilla against Israel this fall. It's deeply concerning, and I think it's something any future American president needs to be aware of."

Outsidethebeltway.com reports Atilla Yesilada, of Istanbul-based political risk consultancy Istanbul Analytics, said that "Ankara and Washington are now walking in lockstep...The essence of the new relationship is one where Turkey is more empowered, and more crucial to the US because of its leverage." The online report said that Turkish and US diplomats claim they cannot remember a time when the US and Turkey have been closer, citing that the man who occupies the Oval Office "called Turkey's prime minister more than any other leader except Britain's prime minister in 2011." If this is true, we see the deep level of cooperation between the US and Turkey, despite Turkey's embrace of terrorists.

Given this Administration's support of the Muslim Brotherhood and all of its trimmings, a little known fact that the US president has spoken with Turkey's prime minister more than any other leader except Britain's is hugely significant. The US has done more in the past ten years to support Islamic expansion than ever before. This has been exponentially accelerated in the past three years. There are numerous accounts in the Bible where the Lord identifies the antichrist as Assyrian (Isaiah 10, 14, 31, 52; Hosea 11; Micah 5 to name a few). For example, Isaiah 14:25 says, "That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot." Assyria is modern day Turkey. Watch and pray.

The great American turn from religious freedom

The US Supreme Court this week announced that it would not take up an appellate court decision banning praying in the name of Jesus in North Carolina. That means that only secular prayers will be given and the mentions of any deity are limited. There are a multitude of cases in the US where religious freedom is under fire--praying in the name of Jesus at the Veterans Cemetery in Houston, no mention of Jesus at graduation services at Medina Valley High School, the attempt to prevent Christmas displays in Athens--these in just one state. But there is a deeper trend to those who would discern--Christian American lives being lost in far away countries to uphold freedom, when those nations are killing off the Church.

Christian Americans have been witnessing the deterioration of religious freedom in the homeland for over a generation now. The federal government, beholden for some reason to secular humanists, has become isolationist in its views regarding religion to the point that it discriminates against anything Christian, while turns a blind eye or even supports non-Christian religious minorities such as Islam in the name of tolerance. Never before in the history of this nation have so many Islamists been heralded as government appointees. If Christians wore their religion on their sleeves like these, the government would have been prevented from hiring them by anti-American, anti-religious groups filing lawsuits.

t is difficult to imagine that an American government policy would shift away from religious freedom in the name of religious freedom, but that is what is happening. In Afghanistan and Iraq, where Christian American men and women have put their lives on the line every day ostensibly for freedom (which includes religious freedom), attacks against Christians have caused the Christian church to go so far underground that the US State Department can't find them--saying that Christian churches in those nations are a thing of the past. So much for ten years of taxpayer funded crusades against the Islamic attacker. At the risk of being sarcastic, it is fair to question this policy and that of the previous White House: What gives?

In Egypt, Coptic Christians are being killed by the dozens, their homes and churches being burned, and Coptics were even prevented from voting according to news reports. Everywhere there was a change due to the US-supported Arab Spring, Sharia law, complete with harsh discrimination against Christians, was established. If you look at actions over words, it appears that the American government policy--both domestically and internationally--is undeniably anti-Christian. Worse, American Christians seem complacent about it. Jesus said in Matthew 10:33, "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." We need to get right with God, otherwise we may lose our nation.

"Amerika" -- the Movie

We recently found a very thought-provoking television series online, viewed on ABC in 1987, in thirteen episodes. The name of this series is: "Amerika."

The following description, taken from Wikipedia, describes the intent and the content of this film.
Although this movie was made 25 years ago, its message rings true for today. We recommend this movie for your weekend viewing . . . over several weekends . . . as we all consider where we are now as a nation, and where we may be going.

Amerika - suggesting a Russified name for the United States - is an American television miniseries that was broadcast in 1987 on ABC. It starred Kris Kristofferson, Mariel Hemingway, Sam Neill, Robert Urich, and a 17-year-old Lara Flynn Boyle in her first major role. Amerika was about life in the United States after a bloodless takeover by the Soviet Union.

Amerika criticized American society in the 1980s, implying that apathy and an unwillingness to defend freedom on the part of many citizens made the Soviet takeover rather easy. At one point, a key Soviet official observes that their plans for conquering the United States succeeded far beyond their wildest dreams, because once the nation had been defeated, Americans turned inward, not caring about national issues, seeking only to retain a piece of the prosperity that had once been theirs. "It (the Soviet coup) worked because you lost your country before we ever got here," says the Soviet leader. "You had political freedom, but you lost your passion ... How could we not win?"

An early scene shows schoolchildren in Chicago learning about Social Darwinism, which is characterized as the dominant philosophy in the old United States before the Soviet conquest and occupation, and a speech delivered by one child later in the series demonstrates the extent of Soviet indoctrination in the new America:

"We are the voice of the new generation. We are the voice of the new people. The destructive ways of the past are gone. We will replace them with our vision of the future. The Party will lead us to the new age. There have been those who have tried to stop the new age. They are the corrupt reminder of the past. They have tried to confuse us with the idea that the old America was a good country. We know that lie. History teaches us that lie. We are grateful to our Soviet brothers who saved the world from destruction, and we can now join them in a world of socialist brotherhood. Everyone will go to school, everyone will have a job, everyone will be equal. No one will exploit or be exploited, and all those who oppose this wonderful vision will be crushed."

Amerika arrived amid much controversy. Many critics and viewers felt it was too long and unrealistic, a number of people argued that it would be damaging to Soviet-American relations, and a spokesperson for the United Nations objected to the U.N. being depicted as an occupying force under Soviet control. Some conservatives felt that Soviet brutality was greatly underplayed; conversely, a number of liberals dismissed the entire miniseries as right-wing paranoia. At various points, the program was scrapped, delayed, and rewritten.

For their part, the Soviet Union threatened to shut down the ABC News Moscow bureau, although this threat was not carried out and indeed seemed to strengthen ABC's resolve regarding the miniseries. "We're going to run that program come rain, blood, or horse manure," said ABC president John B. Sias, after the still-to-be-aired Amerika had generated more controversy and viewer response than any other ABC program before or since, including The Day After.

New Hampshire House Defunds Planned Parenthood

The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 207-147 on Wednesday to pass a bill stripping state funding of Planned Parenthood and any other group performing elective abortions.

The 60-vote majority was plenty to pass HB 228 on to the state Senate, but not enough to override a potential veto from Gov. John Lynch.

"The majority of people agree that, regardless of individual beliefs, taxpayers should not be forced to contribute to the largest abortion provider in American when so many are diametrically religiously and morally opposed to the practice of abortions," House Speaker Bill O'Brien said. In the past 48 hours, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Turkey have alerted Washington to intelligence reports of Iranian Al Qods Brigades operatives heading their way for attacks on oil installations and American targets. The alert was accompanied by a query about how the US intended to respond to the approaching menace.

Intelligence and counter-terrorism sources say the information relayed to Washington was more detailed and specific than the customary tip-off.

Tuesday, Jan. 17, a US spokesman accused Tehran of deepening its involvement in the Syrian conflict. For the second time in a week, Washington disclosed that Al Qods commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani had visited Damascus recently, confirming Iranian arms shipments for ensuring President Bashar Assad's victory over the uprising against him.

Intelligence sources report that another part of Soleimani's Damascus mission was to synchronize the Al Qods cells' strikes across the Middle East - in Turkey, Lebanon, Gaza and Sinai - with the tempo of Assad's crackdown on protest. He also dealt with setting up terrorist attacks against Israeli targets. A US spokesman said: "We are confident that he was received at the highest levels of the Syrian government, including by President Assad."

Four months ago, in October 2011, the US accused Soleimani of a hatching a conspiracy to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington. Tuesday night, the Turkish Security General Directorate-EGM put all the country's 81 districts on guard for the expected arrival of Al Qods operatives to stir up mass unrest against the Erdogan government and attack the US embassy and provincial consulates-general. Their arrival, said the EGM notice, would be coordinated with the infiltration of Hezbollah terrorist teams to Turkey.

Intelligence sources in Ankara believe Tehran is kicking off its first round of Middle East terrorist operations in Turkey as punishment for consenting to the installation of a US radar station on its soil for the NATO shield against incoming Iranian missile attacks, in defiance of Iran's warnings. The Erdogan government is also being penalized for actively supporting Syrian resistance to the Assad regime, especially the Free Syrian Army-SFA. When Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani visited Ankara Jan. 12, he delivered a last warning to the Turkish government to desist from both steps, although the visit was officially billed as focusing on the resumption of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the five powers plus Germany. Larijani's talks clearly ended in disagreement, judging by his parting shot: "We've got our ways of doing things."

A senior counter-terrorism source said on Wednesday, Jan. 18 that the Iranians are setting Turkey up as an example to show the US and their Middle East antagonists what they can expect when Tehran lets the Al Qods Brigades loose against them. According to the information relayed to Washington by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, Al Qods has been placed on the ready for action, such as blowing up oil fields, oil pipelines and oil export terminals. Some of its cells are already present among the two countries' Shiite populations in the guise of longtime Saudi and Kuwaiti nationals of Iranian descent; others to be dropped by sea on the Saudi and Kuwaiti coasts.

A report in the Turkish media states that according to Turkish intelligence, it is likely that a cell of the Quds Unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guard is planning to break into the U.S. Embassy or one of its consulates. The intelligence further stated that the cell is planning on staying at a five-star hotel in the city in which the attack is being planned, cautioning forces to focus on foreigners residing in those hotels.

YEMEN: AL-QAEDA ON THE MOVE

SUMMARY: A group of about 200 al-Qaeda terrorists has taken control of Rada, a city just 130 kilometers south of Yemen's capital. Opposition leaders have accused President Saleh of allowing al-Qaeda to advance in order to convince the public that he should remain in office. Saleh is supposed to step down in February.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (a terrorist group affiliated with al-Qaeda) seized the Yemeni city of Rada on January 16, 2012. Though the militants have controlled a number of towns in the south, this is the closest they have come to the capital of Sana'a. According to "The Australian," "Many sleeper cells of the terror network are thought to be located" in this area.

In response to protests, President Ali Abdullah Saleh agreed to step down from office when elections are held in February. However, some believe he is now allowing al-Qaeda to advance in order to remain in office.

When the terrorists took control of Rada, they released hundreds of inmates from the jail. Some were already loyal to al-Qaeda and others chose to join them.

According to ABC News, "Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula now controls seven population centers in Southern Yemen."

Obama Says No To Canada's Oil

In a stunning development today, Obama once again rejected the Keystone XL pipeline. The pipeline would have transported crude oil from the Canadian tar sands to refineries along the Gulf Coast. It would have provided more oil from a friendly ally while reducing America's dependence on imported oil from hostile regimes like Venezuela or those in the Middle East.

Today's decision is inexplicable. It defies common sense and the recommendation of Obama's own jobs council! Consider this excerpt from the 2011 year-end report issued by Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness:

"Additionally, policies that facilitate the safe, thoughtful and timely development of pipeline, transmission and distribution projects are necessary to facilitate the delivery of America's fuel and electricity and maintain the reliability of our nation's energy system."

Last month a bi-partisan majority in Congress passed legislation demanding a decision on the pipeline within 60 days. Congress took this unusual step because the Obama White House said it would wait until after the 2012 elections to make a decision. The administration now claims it is denying approval because it can't make an informed decision in 60 days. But according to the Wall Street Journal, "The U.S. government has been reviewing the 1,700-mile Keystone XL pipeline since 2008."

So this project has been under government review for four years -- that's 1,460 days -- and Obama still can't give us an answer? We developed the atomic bomb in less time. We built the Empire State Building in less time. The Hoover Dam took less than five years to build.

But Obama just can't bring himself to approve a pipeline that would provide America with oil from Canada and create tens of thousands of jobs in the process -- even when his own advisors recommend it. He rejects the one really "shovel ready" project on his desk while spending billions on failed alternative energy companies.

Why would Obama do this? Because the radical environmentalist movement has made the Keystone pipeline a litmus test issue. They have drawn a "line in the sand" on the use of "dirty" tar sands oil.

But the oil will be used. The pipeline will be built -- going west, instead of south, to load the oil on Chinese tankers. China desperately wants it. In fact, the Chinese are already aggressively buying up interests in Canada's tar sands and Prime Minister Harper is headed to China next month. According to Canadian news reports, "A decision by U.S. President Barack Obama to delay approval for a major pipeline expansion through the country led to Harper talk about finding other customers for Canadian oil."

By the way, petroleum analysts are warning that 2012 could be "the most painful year at the pump that we have ever seen."

My friends, let me remind you what Obama's former National Security Advisor, Gen. Jim Jones, said last month about the failure of this administration to develop a serious energy policy:

"If we get to the point where we cannot bring ourselves to do what is in our national interest, then we are clearly in a period of decline . . . A nation that fails to secure the energy its citizens and its economic engine need to keep functioning leaves itself vulnerable to external contingencies in a dangerous and uncertain world and to the whims of foreign leaders and other actors who may not always have its interests at heart." Wherever you are on January 22, 2012, we urge you to join with others in repenting to our Lord for yourself, our churches, and for America for the shedding of innocent blood on a vast scale. As we mourn the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, we urge you to join with other prolife groups who publicly mourn the passage of the law.

We will do an Operation Outcry press conference on January 20, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The title is "Are Women Better Off Under Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton? No!!" (Click here to read the full press release.) You can join us if you are in D.C. then.
Please pray for us and all of the women of Operation Outcry who will be speaking out across the country of how abortion hurts women.

While in Washington, D.C., we will also be co-sponsoring the Youth for Life Rally, marching near the head of the March for Life, and strategizing and coordinating future plans with other pro-life leaders. 70 Years Ago: the Wannsee Conference

11 Million: Remembering Wannsee

German Christians mark the 70th Anniversary of the 'Final Solution' at Yad Vashem
11 million. That was the number of Jews sentenced to death a brief 90-minute lunch meeting at a beautiful lakeside villa near Berlin 70 years ago. Over the course of the next two days the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem will be hosting a high-ranking delegation of German and Austrian Christian leaders for a series of events marking the 70th anniversary of the Wannsee Conference, the infamous meeting of Nazi officials which decided upon the "Final Solution of the Jewish Question."

Held on January 20, 1942 and attended by 15 high-ranking Nazi bureaucrats, the Wannsee Conference set in motion the implementation of a plan to for the systematic, industrial murder of all the Jews within Germany's reach in Europe and north-west Africa.

The fate of 11 million Jews, followed by a glass of Cognac.

It is important that we remember that the Nazi officials who deliberated at Villa Wannsee over their ghastly plans for exterminating European Jewry were all well-educated, with at least half of them holding doctorate degrees. Some were also the sons of Protestant ministers, yet not one of them raised any moral objections to this heinous plot. (To see a list of the names of those officials, go here.)

1. Iran offered Syria's Brotherhood power if it agreed to Assad staying on: official - Al Arabiya

Iran has offered the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood a deal that includes giving the Islamist opposition group all of the government, but under the condition that President Bashar al-Assad remains as the country's premier, an official said in a newspaper interview published on Wednesday.

- Lord God, we ask You to raise up Your strong arm against the Muslim Brotherhood, and the violence and control they have propagated in many nations. Protect believers in all these nations from being slaughtered by enemies who are working to establish the rule of Islam. May Your people be strong and do exploits to stand against their foes. May the people of the United States elect leaders who are wise concerning the Muslim Brotherhood, and courageous to take a firm stand against its agenda. In Jesus' Name.

- "Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength." (Isaiah 26: 4)

2. India: Huge ID project offers multitude of challenges - NZ Herald

The Indian Government is dedicated to giving each of its citizens a unique,12-digit number under a scheme called Aadhaar, or Foundation. By the time it is completed it will be 10 times bigger than the world's current largest biometric database, with some estimates saying it will cost a total of $36 billion. The goal is to issue 600 million IDs by 2014. The Government says this is about empowerment - people who don't have an acknowledged existence by the state, suddenly going from a world of no ID, to a world of online ID. Enrollment is voluntary but the Government has advertised heavily to promote the scheme and set up centres in villages and towns across the country. Recently, a team working out of a former factory in the north of Delhi was inputting data and taking fingerprints and retinal scans. One resident said, "It will make things easier because I will have just one number for everything."

- Lord, it is simply amazing to see the prophecies of Your holy Word falling into place with such accuracy and rapidity. Even those projects that governments may be doing with good intentions, may be the very preparations described in Your Word for the coming anti-Christ. We pray this ID system will work for good, especially for the poor of India. May all who call upon Your Name in sincerity, determine in their hearts to walk with You by faith through these end days of human history. Preserve us from the enemy of our souls because we love You Lord!

- "He (the anti-Christ) causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark" (Revelation 13:16,17, 14:11)

3. Indian TB cases 'can't be cured' - BBC

Tuberculosis which appears to be totally resistant to antibiotic treatment has been reported for the first time by Indian doctors. Concern over drug-resistant strains of TB is growing, with similar 'incurable' TB emerging in Italy and Iran. The Indian reports fuel concerns over the ability of doctors to contain the disease in years to come. TB is one of the world's biggest killers, second only to HIV among infectious diseases.

- Lord, it seems drug resistant plagues are growing across the planet, and the best efforts of good doctors cannot contain them. So we look to You for complete protection and healing, for this was fully provided on Jesus' Cross. Thank You for being our Refuge and Fortress from disease. We receive Your many healing promises found in the Bible with thanksgiving through faith in You.

- " Because you have made the Lord - even the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling place." (Psalm 91: 9,10) " By His stripes (on the Cross) you were healed!" (1 Peter 2:24)

4. Treasury dips into pension funds to avoid debt - Chicago Tribune

The Treasury on Tuesday started dipping into federal pension funds in order to give the Obama administration more credit to pay government bills. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on Wednesday on the Obama administration's request to raise the country's legal debt limit to $16.394 trillion. Unless the lower chamber and the Senate are able to shore up enough votes to block the White House request, the debt limit will be increased by $1.2 trillion next Friday and a repeat of last year's debt ceiling debacle will be averted.

- Dear Lord, we ask for discretion and wisdom in the legislature concerning monetary issues. We pray they will take a stand against increasing debt, and debt limits! We pray they will act in prudence to cut back expenditures and cease from burying our nation in overwhelming debt. We pray that the White house request will be solidly blocked, and instead, huge amounts of useless and repetitive expenditures will be eliminated. May those whose pensions are being dipped into, be protected from becoming the scapegoats for the government's out of control spending habits.

- Awake America lest the Word of the Lord come to pass: "And it shall be - As with the lender so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor. The land shall be entirely emptied and plundered, for the Lord has spoken this word." (Isaiah 24:2)

5. The Real 2012 Doomsday: U.S. Falls To Tyranny - Personal Liberty

While many Americans deny that the U.S. government will ever use such weapons on a widespread basis against dissenters, recent developments in the country appear to indicate otherwise. The crackdowns on OWS camps carried out by police in riot/military gear, armed with tear gas canisters and rubber bullets, indicate that when large masses of people cry out, no matter what the political agenda, they will be quieted by local, State and/or Federal officials. The National Defense Authorization Bill gives the President the ability to indefinitely detain terror suspects, but this comes at a time when the lines of what constitutes "terror" are becoming increasingly blurry. The Federal government is currently in active negotiations with members of the Taliban, and Obama has made it clear that anyone who rejects his agenda is considered a "right-wing domestic terrorist." - Lord, prayerfully this article will be read in its entirety by many, and its contents given the most serious consideration. As our government has increasingly acted to undermine the Constitution and the premises of the Founding Fathers, citizens are being stripped of their rights and even the basic dignity of privacy. We call upon You Lord to rescue us from those who would brand law abiding citizens as "domestic terrorists." Hear our prayers Lord, protect us and show us what to do! Raise up godly leadership empowered by You to turn this nation around from its current course. Help LORD!

1. EU: Israel undermines Jerusalem as capital of 2 states - jpost

Israel's policies in Jerusalem are "systematically undermining the Palestinian presence" in the city and making the prospect of it becoming the shared capital of Israel and a future Palestinian state "increasingly unlikely and unworkable," British daily The Independent quoted a report drafted by European diplomats as saying.

2. EU report calls for action against Israeli settlements - BBC

The European Commission is being urged to consider drafting legislation to ensure financial transactions by EU member states do not support Jewish settlements in East Jerusalem. The proposal is made in a confidential report by top EU diplomats in the area.

3. Syrian army 'agrees to ceasefire in Zabadani' - BBC

Syrian troops who were attacking rebels in the town of Zabadani, close to the capital Damascus, have agreed to a ceasefire, an opposition leader says. Radwan Ziadeh told the BBC troops had shelled the town since Friday, but had agreed to stop hostilities as the Free Syrian Army had strong local support. He said many members of the Syrian army had defected to the rebels' side.

4. Syrian 'chemical, biological' weapons concern Israel - Ynet News

Israel has serious concerns about what will happen to "huge stockpiles" of chemical and biological weapons in Syria when the Assad regime collapses, a senior military official said on Tuesday.

Encourage, Equip, Evangelize--lessons of a decade

Ten years ago today, the Lord prompted me to begin writing The Daily Jot. At the time, I was not sure what form it would take or what even would be written. I knew, however, that I was to use my journalism experience to encourage and equip Christians to evangelize. The name of the Jot came from Jesus' words in Matthew 5:18, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." The Daily Jot was to be a small writing about something the Lord put on my heart each day that would help equip or encourage someone to evangelize in some way--whether it be through example, by using the Jot to strike up conversations, or by sharing it.

Another lesson I have learned is that there are many deceivers in the world--many are in Christianity. Paul warned in Ephesians 4:14, "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive." When you actually study the word, you will find that many doctrines were developed out of context. There are many things I once believed were true because they were taught to me as truth, but I now see they were in great error and are causing deception. Don't get angry when your concepts are challenged. Study the Bible in its full context and find out for yourself.

There have been countless times over the past decade that the Lord has prompted me to write things that have, at first, upset people tremendously. To be honest, I knew they would, but I have to write what the Lord impresses upon me to write. Usually, the upsetting things come to pass. As an award winning investigative journalist, many times people would mock what I wrote, only to find that it turned out to be true. In Christianity, the arena is very unforgiving. Covering prophetic events is a full contact sport so to speak. Here is how I deal with it: Ezekiel 3:17-21. Paraphrasing, the Lord says tell them what I tell you to tell them; if you do, their actions are on their hands; if you don't, the blood is on my hand. And so it goes.

In the times ahead, I suspect there will be many warnings, many doctrines that will be called into question, and many who will just want to lash out rather than check it out. Please understand that I love you; that I have no agenda apart from what I believe the Lord is putting on my heart; and that your prayers and support are cherished because I also have learned that the Lord chooses to work through his people, otherwise this ministry would not exist. Thank you for the past ten years, and I look forward to what the Lord has in store for both of us!

Illinois Abortion Clinic Closes Down

The owners of an abortion clinic in Rockford, Ill., which was just cleared by the state to reopen after violating health standards last year, announced Friday they will shut the clinic for good because of a lack of community support.

On Jan. 4, the state said the Northern Illinois Women's Clinic (NIWC) had satisfactorily corrected the unsanitary conditions inspectors discovered last summer, and gave the owners a choice: Pay a $9,750 fine to keep operating - with the caveat that the least infraction in the future would result in the state closing the clinic for good - or pay $1,000 and voluntarily surrender the clinic's operating license.

The NIWC was one of nine abortion clinics inspected in a statewide sweep, but 13 others in Illinois have never been inspected - and nine of those are exempt from ever being scrutinized, said Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League.

"It's not enough for officials to step up and enforce the weak laws we already have," Scheidler said. "It's time for the General assembly to close the loopholes that keep public health officials from ensuring other abortuaries aren't similarly violating the law."

The conditions at the NIWC weren't just unsanitary, Scheidler said - they were bizarre. Owner Wayne Webster was seen outside wearing a devil costume, and a crucified rubber chicken was hung in a window.

"It's shocking that it had to get this bad for the state to step in," Scheidler said. "If other clinics in the state are half or even a quarter as bad as Rockford, they too need to be closed down."

1. Iran warns of consequences if Arabs back oil sanctions - Reuters

Iran warned Gulf Arab neighbors they would suffer consequences if they raised oil output to replace Iranian crude facing an international ban.

- Lord, You know what Iran is doing, and You have provided a way of salvation and provision for all nations. You are also the one who can cut off provision to nations. We pray wisdom for the leaders dealing with the oil situation. The oil belongs to You, Lord. In the name of Jesus, our Savior and Provider we pray. Amen.

- "And He shall divide the spoil with the strong." (Psalm 53:12)

2. S&P defends mass downgrade across Europe - Globe and Mail

Amid a wave of criticism, Standard & Poor's defended its decision to downgrade nine European countries and insisted Saturday that the region's leaders aren't doing enough to solve their debt crises.

- Lord, we pray for the nations of Europe and their leaders. May they turn to You in their time of need. We pray for Your truth and life to invade Europe and show them the Way. We pray this crisis would be used to turn people to You. Teach them biblical ways of finance. In the name of Jesus we stand in the gap for Europe. Amen.

3. Obama Seeks New Power to Merge Agencies, Pledges Some Action 'With or Without Congress' - CNS News

Hussein Obama wants more power to reorganize the executive branch, powers he says will only be used to make government more efficient.

- Lord, we ask that President Obama not have more power, but that his power - outside of that which is prescribed by the Constitution - be broken. We thank You that Congress is questioning this move, and is carrying out its own responsibilities in providing oversight over the actions of the Executive Branch, as needed. In Your Name, amen.

- "Righteousness exalts a nation" (Proverbs 14:34)

4. Eleven states, D.C. back Obama on health law - Washington Times

Eleven states and the District of Columbia are siding with the Obama administration in the legal battle over the constitutionality of the new health care law, as more than half the states prepare to challenge the law before the Supreme Court.

- Lord, according to this report - more than half of the states - and probably more than half of the country do not want Obamacare. Lord, we pray that the will of the people be honored, and that the majority of states be victorious in their challenge before the Supreme Court. We pray for wisdom for their attorneys and favor before the Supreme Court. We pray that the Supreme Court makes the right decision, and they not be deceived.

There is nothing in the Constitution that says the Government should have control over our health care and our medical decisions. Give guidance about the health problems in this country. May there be revelation of and from our Healer, Jesus, in whose name we pray and give honor and thanks. Amen.

- He said to them, "You will surely say this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself!" Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country." (Luke 4:23)

5. Bethlehem to Host Church Conference Which Demonizes Israel

Next March, Bethlehem Bible College will host dozens of US theologians, activists and ministries for the "Christ at the Checkpoint 2012 Conference". It is to be a major religious and political event meant to demonize Israel and to support the Palestinian Intifada against the "ethnocentric" Jewish State. The impressive range of Christian theologians and pastors from many churches located in the United States make the gravity of the upcoming conference clear. (Read more.) - Many intercessors are expecting war to break out momentarily in Israel. Could it be that MARCH would be the time for that to happen . . . even as this delusional group gathers for this meeting?

Pray for the souls of these church leaders, named in this article, and ask God to (somehow) forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. In teaching these lies about the sovereignty of the nation of Israel, they are coming against the apple of God's eye. Pray!

- "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." (Matthew 7:15)

6. Christians in New York Arrested for Protesting Church Ban - WORLD Magazine

Churches that have been meeting in schools there will have to find new places of worship by Feb. 12, when a new law banning the churches from public school facilities goes into effect. The new ban will affect about 150 churches.

So when Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave his State of the City Address on Thursday, more than 200 pastors and lay people gathered outside the Bronx school where he gave the speech to pray. Police arrested 43 of the praying protesters.

- Pray that these arrests would be appealed in a court of law and overruled. Come before our Great High Priest in the Throne Room of heaven, making intercession for the saints in these perilous times. Pray!

- "The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous . . " (Psalm 125:3)

1. Israel 'waging covert war on Iran' - ABC

A report released this week claims agents from Israel's spy agency Mossad posed as CIA officers in 2008 in order to recruit people to carry out attacks and assassinations against Iranian officials.

2. Hamas brutally assaults Shi'ite worshippers in Gaza - Haaretz

Armed Hamas men broke into a gathering of some 30 Shi'ite worshippers in the Gaza Strip last Friday and brutally attacked them, Haaretz has learned. The assault was part of a broader crackdown on Shi'ite organizations, including charities, that has been sparked in part by Hamas' fear of growing Iranian influence in Gaza.

3. Egypt's next parliament to be led by Islamist - Washington Post

Liberals and Islamists in Egypt announced a temporary agreement Monday on a power-sharing plan that would install a Moslem Brotherhood leader as speaker of the country's newly elected parliament. The agreement among six political parties all but guarantees that the Moslem Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party will lead Egypt's first elected parliament since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak in February, with the Islamist party expected to control as many as half the seats.

4. Terror Attack Foiled as Court Sentences Fogel Murderer

Alert IDF soldiers staved off a terror attack that was intended to take place inside the military court at Salem, in Samaria, on Monday. The soldiers neutralized and arrested two armed terrorists who tried to enter the court in an attack planned to coincide with the sentencing of Amjad Awad, who butchered five members of the Fogel family in Itamar last year.

The court deliberations were not disturbed and the court sentenced Awad to five life sentences Monday.

The prophetic Middle East leap created by the White House

The man who occupies the Oval Office has created a game changing prophetic leap in the Middle East that may well have set America's course in prophetic eschatology. Christian and Jewish eschatology speak of the Day of the Lord where the Bible plainly prophesies that Arab/Islamic nations attack Israel and Israel is saved by the Messiah, the Christ, in an end time battle that ushers in the Millennial Reign of Christ. There are many current events that point to this eschatology being set up by the actions of leaders of many nations. The support and acceptance by the White House of the Moslem Brotherhood is a major prophetic and eschatological step that has tremendous consequences.

The Moslem Brotherhood's advance to establish a worldwide Sharia-based caliphate has been catalyzed by the White House. The Administration throwing its support behind the Moslem Brotherhood in what was called the Arab Spring has resulted in Islamists using democracy to take over Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Yemen. Additionally, there is strife in Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia that is either a direct or a collateral affect of advancing the Moslem Brotherhood plan. This destabilization of the Middle East has created an even more hostile environment for Israel by legitimizing Islamic control through democracy and by energizing Islamic terror groups in Israel--Hamas, al Qaeda, Hezbollah and others.

It is well known that Moslem Brotherhood operatives hold positions at the highest levels of US government. Starting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin, whose ties to the Moslem Brotherhood are undeniable, and continuing with Islamic appointments within the departments of Defense and Homeland Security. The Administration apparently is banking on a theory that the Moslem Brotherhood will help isolate Iran, as the Moslem Brotherhood is Sunni and Iran is largely Shiite. The Moslem Brotherhood plan as revealed in the Holy Land Foundation terror trial in Texas, however, indicates that it will unify all Moslems under a worldwide Caliphate, similar to the Ottoman Empire.

Islamic eschatology has its Mahdi returning to earth to establish a seven year worldwide rule of Islamic peace. Islam's version of Jesus (Isa) is to be the Mahdi's prophet in leading Jews and Christians to Islam. Islam's eschatology is strikingly similar to the Biblical antichrist. Indeed, Islam denies the deity of Christ. 2 John 7 says, "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." And Zechariah 12:9 speaks of the day of the Lord, "And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem." America has played the eschatological catalyst with its Middle East policy. Its final place in prophecy is yet to be determined.

At the Supreme Court, All Work and No Pray

Supreme Court Turns Away Prayer Case

Pray before public meetings if you like - just don't dare mention the name "Jesus."

For the time being, that's the law for states falling under the jurisdiction of the 4th U.S.Circuit Court of Appeals, as the U.S. Supreme Court declined Tuesday to hear a case arising from North Carolina. (CitizenLink) Read more.

The Supreme Court giveth, and the Supreme Court taketh away. Just days after handing down one of the biggest victories for religious freedom in a half-century, the justices are back to ignoring the principles they upheld. Unlike last week, when it told the government to keep its nose out of church business, the Court sent the exact opposite message this morning to anti-religion opportunists by rejecting a case on public prayer. The decision blindsided religious groups, who thought the suit had a reasonable chance of appeal. Instead, the battle over prayer at government meetings came to a sudden end, leaving in place a ridiculous decision by the Fourth Circuit Court to limit the number of "Jesus" references in every petition offered.

The suit kicked off five years ago, when two women from Forsyth County, North Carolina challenged the policy allowing prayers in Jesus's name. Although opponents said the policy violated the Establishment Clause, FRC and others disagreed. Everyone in town, regardless of their religion, had an open invitation to pray at county meetings. The schedule was decided on a first-come, first-served basis, and leaders even advertised the number for the clerk's office so that churches from as many faiths as possible could volunteer. Until 2007, when the board eliminated prayers altogether, everyone from imams to rabbis had offered invocations. That didn't matter to the Fourth Circuit Court, who seemed to object to the religious make-up of the County. Since Forsyth is overwhelmingly Christian, a majority of the prayers were in Jesus's name. To combat that, the Appeals Court decided that local governments would have to start monitoring any "excessive" mentions of Jesus.

By not hearing the case, the Supreme Court agreed--meaning that it is now law, not just in Forsyth County, but every state under the Fourth Circuit's jurisdiction (Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina), that every government body use this "Jesus-counting approach" in public prayers. When the decision takes effect, it will be illegal for pastors in any government assembly to mention Jesus except once or twice at the end of their prayers--or make any statements about who Jesus is and what He's done for us. FRC and 15 members of the U.S. House of Representatives Prayer Caucus had weighed in with an amicus brief in hopes that the Court would step in and stop this wave of anti-religious censorship. Unfortunately for people (like FRC staff!) who live in these states, our prayers will have to be answered before they can truly be offered. Texas Meeting

You may have read by now about a weekend meeting of pro-family, pro-life conservatives that took place in Houston, Texas. I, and more than 125 other leaders, attended the meeting to see if we could reach a consensus on which GOP presidential contender to unite around. After hours of discussion and three separate ballots the overwhelming majority of attendees selected Rick Santorum, with a significant minority backing Newt Gingrich.

Media descriptions of the event were often inaccurate and, not surprisingly, in some cases seemed intended to sow divisions. Here are the facts. This was not a "stop Romney" meeting. As I repeatedly told reporters, it was a "stop Obama" meeting!

There were individuals supporting each of the candidates. Our conclusion to support Santorum was a positive statement in favor of him -- NOT a negative statement about the other good conservatives in the race. We realize that reasonable conservatives can reach different conclusions about the best "horse" to ride.

Finally, talking to my colleagues, I found a unanimous view that November 2012 will be the most important election of our lives. America, as a constitutional republic, cannot survive another four years of Obama.

Whomever the GOP nominates, within reason, will receive, in my view, the support of a united conservative movement. Disagreements among conservatives pale in comparison to our disagreements with Barack Obama. Our movement will gain nothing and risks losing everything if Obama is reelected.

We continue to urge all the GOP contenders to stop savaging one another and instead aim their fire at the disaster currently sitting in the Oval Office. (Gary Bauer)

About that Ship . . .

What happened on the doomed Italian cruise liner is a commentary on the division between values-oriented conservatives and pure libertarians. I'm hearing more and more libertarians arguing that we should support limited government and that anything involving morality is off limits. But I agree with the Founders who argued that only a virtuous people could remain free and that the purpose of the law is to uphold the values that promote virtuous lifestyles.

What does this have to do with a capsized cruise ship? The captain and some crewmen evidently lived by the motto "Every man for himself." They saved their own skins before lifting a finger to help the women and children on board. Some commentators today are contrasting their behavior to what happened on the Titanic.
One hundred years ago, the men on that ship were committed to the moral idea of saving women and children before they saved themselves. So much so in fact that proportionally more women in third class survived the Titanic's sinking then did men in first class. And they survived because the men with first class tickets stood on the decks helping women and children of all social ranks into the lifeboats.

Benjamin Guggenheim, one of the wealthiest men on board, didn't try to buy his way off the sinking ship. He helped load women and children into the lifeboats and then changed into a tuxedo when the last boat was gone so that he would "die like a gentleman." It was reported that he gave this message to a survivor, "Tell my wife . . . I played the game out straight to the end. No woman shall be left aboard this ship because Ben Guggenheim was a coward."

Let me make this observation: Before long there will be demands for new regulations of the cruise industry. Perhaps there will be regulations demanding that the captain and crew must remain on the ship. In other words, when morality fails big government grows to fill the gap. The breakdown of the mother/father family, for example, has spurred the growth of the welfare state. And vice versa.

Whether libertarians realize it or not, they have an inconsistent view of government. Their neutrality on issues of morality will guarantee the growth of big government, the very thing they despise most. (Gary Bauer)

Joint US-Israel drill called off by Netanyahu, to Washington's surprise

debkafile's sources disclose exclusively that, contrary to recent reports published in Washington, Jerusalem - and this site too - it was Israel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, not the Obama administration, who decided to call off the biggest ever joint US-Israeli military exercise Austere Challenge 12 scheduled for April 2012.

Washington was taken aback by the decision. It was perceived as a mark of Israel's disapproval for the administration's apparent hesitancy in going through with the only tough sanctions with any chance of working against Iran's nuclear weapon program: penalizing its central bank and blocking payments for its petroleum exports.

Millions Hear John 3:16 During Prime-Time Football Game

When Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow shocked the Pittsburgh Steelers by throwing for 316 yards in overtime to advance in the AFC Divisional playoffs on Jan. 8, it drove more than 94 million people to the Internet to find out what John 3:16 - one of Tebow's favorite verses - actually says.

So this weekend, Focus on the Family decided to simply tell them.

For Saturday's playoff game against the New England Patriots, the ministry conceived, shot, edited and delivered a 30-second ad showing children reciting the verse - a process which, ironically, took approximately 3.16 days from start to finish.

"It was a pretty tight deadline," Focus President Jim Daly said with a chuckle, "but to be fair, we were working with a great, inspired script."

As with so many things directly (and indirectly) related to Tebow, the commercial defied all odds before some 40 million people saw it this weekend.

First, there was the impossible time frame. At 10:05 p.m. on Jan. 9, Gary Schneeberger, the ministry's vice president of communications, e-mailed Chief Development Officer Ken Windebank a USA Today story about Tebow that mentioned the pro-life commercial he and his mom, Pam, shot for Focus that aired during the 2010 Super Bowl. At 8:05 a.m. the next morning, Windebank responded, saying, "Do we place an ad in the Broncos/New England game?"

From there, an entire creative team was off and running - almost simultaneously finding out that an ad spot actually was available, then securing funding, rounding up a cast of local children, getting approval from a television network (which had rejected a John 3:16 ad from another ministry for last year's Super Bowl), and editing the footage before a member of the films department took a red-eye flight from Denver to New York to hand-deliver the DVD to a CBS network executive Friday morning - just 10 minutes before the deadline.

"We've got some talented and passionate people working at Focus on the Family, but we know we're just not *that* good," Daly said. "God was in this from the beginning."

When the ad aired a few minutes into the second quarter, the Internet exploded.

Within minutes, as the YouTube video began going viral, both John 3:16 and Focus on the Family were trending worldwide as the top Internet search terms. By Monday morning, more than 5,600 people had opened a blog by Esther Fleece, Daly's assistant for millennial relations, about Tebow (see Tim Tebow's Good News), and the left-leaning group change.org had started a petition drive for people to force CBS to apologize for running the ad - a sort of backhanded compliment. Twelve hours later, "Focus on the Family" was the fifth most-searched-for term on Google, and "John 3:16" was fourteenth.

But the most important outcome was measured by feedback the ministry received shortly after the ad aired.

"Both my sons just saw your commercial and gave their lives to Christ as a result," one man wrote on Twitter. "Thank you. #John316."

Similarly, another woman said:

"Thanks for running the John 3:16 ad during the Broncos/Patriots game. My husband is not a believer, but he was so taken by those precious kids that he became emotional watching it. Thanks for reaching out in such a warm, compassionate way."
"The Bible says in Isaiah that God's Word does not come back void," Daly said. "That was our prayer going into this effort - to spotlight the Word of the Lord to bring people to the Lord. What a blessing to know that goal was accomplished."

1. URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FOR NIGERIA

Submitted by the End-Time Handmaidens and Servants; January 13, 2012

We have an urgent phone call for a prayer request from Nigeria today, Friday January 13, from Blessing Jibuike. Her father-in-law who also lives in Nigeria, is Brother Emmanuel Jibuike who is a long-time End-Time Servant and one of the ministry's directors.

The Moslems in Nigeria have declared a JIHAD against the Christians and have determined to wipe them out so that Nigeria is free of Christianity. They are bombing churches and have said that they are going to kill all the Christians.

The borders of the nation have been shut and the airport shut down so that nobody can get out. It has been reported that a Jihad group specially trained in Somalia has returned to Nigeria for this Holy War.

Blessing asked that we pray that the Lord of Hosts, Himself, will deliver His people in Nigeria. Pray that the church in Nigeria will be faithful and not be intimidated and for the Blood of Jesus Christ to cover His people. Pray for faith and courage to arise in God's people that a spirit of fear will not overtake them and that the "peace of God which passeth understanding will keep (their) hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7)

2. EGYPT: THE BROTHERHOOD WINS PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

In late November 2011, Egyptians began voting in the first parliamentary elections since Mr. Mubarak's fall. The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party was the clear winner in the first round of voting, and by the final round in January 2012 it appeared possible that the party would win a majority of seats.

The election results set up a potential confrontation between the new Parliament and Egypt's military rulers. How far or how fast the Brotherhood might push to make Egypt more Islamic is one of the biggest questions hovering over the country, and thereby the region.

Another is whether the current maneuvering between the Brotherhood and Egypt's military rulers will end in an accommodation or in conflict. As the military has taken a harder line on hanging on to a preeminent role, the Brotherhood has zigged and zagged in response.

Jan. 11 - Former President Jimmy Carter said that after meeting with Egypt's military rulers, including Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, he doubted they would fully submit to the authority of the civilian democracy they had promised to install. Mr. Carter was in Egypt with a team from his human rights organization, the Carter Center, to help monitor the final round of the parliamentary elections. He is highly respected in Egypt because of his role in the Camp David accords.

Jan. 4 - The strong showing by the Muslim Brotherhood in parliamentary elections has led the Obama administration to begin to reverse decades of mistrust and hostility, seeking to forge closer ties with an organization once viewed as irreconcilably opposed to United States interests. Also, the Egyptian prosecutor in the trial of former president Mubarak accused the military-led government's internal security forces of obstructing his case, suggesting internal divisions among law enforcement officials over whether to defend or turn against their former boss. - Oh Heavenly Father, this appears to be a lot of wolves in sheep's clothing -- plotting and scheming destruction while promising good. We see the fruit from previous actions by these people and groups, and we fall before You and ask that Your people be protected! May the false fruit be cut down and thrown into the fire, according to Your Word, so that only Your fruit remains in the nation of Egypt. Amen.

- "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruit. . . . every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them." (Matthew 7:15-20)

3. IRANIAN OFFICIALS IN A RAGE OVER SCIENTIST'S ASSASSINATION

Iranian officials were in rare form on Wednesday, lashing out at Israel, the US, the UK and various other Western powers for the assassination earlier in the day of prominent nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan. Iran's parliament erupted with cries of "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" after news of the attack was announced, and Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi angrily declared in a televised statement that "They [Israel and the US] should know that Iranian scientists are more determined than ever in striding towards Iran's progress." A laconic White House statement denied any involvement in the bombing attack which killed Roshan and the driver of his vehicle. Several other US government agencies issued similar statements. Meanwhile, IDF spokesperson Yoav Mordechai said on his Facebook page "I don't know who settled the score with the Iranian scientist, but I am definitely not shedding any tears."

Roshan was a deputy director at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, as well as being a member of the Basij militia, an auxilery of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps which is responsible for foreign terrorist operations as well as quelling internal dissent. Reports in the Iranian media broadly hinted that his assasins received information which led to his death from the International Atomic Energy Agency, leading to speculation that the Islamic Republic's already uneasy relationship with the IAEA might be about to become toxic. For its part, the Iranian nuclear agency issued a defiant statement that "the futile actions by the criminal Israeli regime and America will not disrupt the path the Iranian people have chosen." - Lord we bind the spirit of murder in this situation, and cover the angry exchanges with the Blood of Jesus. We declare Your Lordship over both Israel and Iran and pray for truth to be revealed against Your enemies.

- "So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king's wrath pacified." (Esther 7:10)

4. U.S. DECLARES IT WILL STAY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

US Navy Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert told a Center for a New American Security forum on Wednesday that the US has no intention of leaving the Persian Gulf, despite an Iranian threat to close the Strait of Hormuz if another aircraft carrier attempts to enter it. Briefing reporters at the Pentagon, Press Secretary George Little said the United States has been very clear "that we seek to lower the temperature on tensions with Iran, and we think that things have calmed down a bit in recent days." He was joined by Navy Capt. John Kirby, who gave a background briefing which included assurances that the current deployment of naval assets to the region was nothing unusual. "I don't want to leave anybody with the impression that ... we're somehow 'zorching' two carriers over there because we're concerned about what happened ... today in Iran," he said. "It's just not the case. The US Navy has and will continue to remain a force in that region to help protect the free flow of commerce in international waters." (ICEJ News)

- Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You asking for discernment and wisdom of how we, Your remanent bride, are to pray over such an intense web of deceit, power plotting, and arrogance, swirling in an ever increasing whirlpool of nuclear threats, oil needs, and movement to major warfare in this region, the Middle East. We intensely repent for our nation's governmental leaders who push their views and destructive agendas in this whirlpool. Have mercy Lord, forgive us and our nation, and direct us, Lord, to where You want us to be, Amen and Amen!

- "To do evil is like sport to a fool, but a man of understanding has wisdom. The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted. When the whirlpool passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation." (Proverbs 10:23 -25)

5. ERIC CANTOR: "SAUDIS HAVE ENOUGH OIL TO MAKE UP FOR IRAN"

US House Majority Leader Cantor meets Middle East officials, says oil producers ready, able to meet demands. Saudi Arabia says it has enough oil output capacity to meet global customers' needs if new sanctions keep Iran from exporting oil, a top US Republican lawmaker said on Friday. Cantor is the number two Republican in the Republican-majority House of Representatives, after Speaker John Boehner.

House of Representatives Majority Leader Eric Cantor spoke to Reuters by telephone from Europe after several days of meetings in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia. Saudi oil minister Ali al-Naimi was among the officials he met. "The Saudi government indicated that it was ready and able to meet needs of its customers," Cantor told Reuters. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest oil exporter. Its top customers include the United States, Japan, China and South Korea.

The goal of the West's increased pressure on Tehran is to stop the Islamic republic from building a nuclear weapon. Iran says its nuclear work is for peaceful purposes. (Jerusalem Post) Read more.

- Offer praise unto the Lord for this good report! The bullying tactics of Iran may just fail, after all. Pray that the world's leaders may yet be granted "wisdom from above" to know how to respond to the danger of a nuclear Iran. Pray!

- [Regarding our supply of oil.] "And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:19)

6. U.S. NERVOUS; SENDS ARMY GENERAL TO CALM DOWN ISRAEL

The Obama administration is sending the head of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey to Israel this Thursday to try to change what it sees as Israel's increasing readiness to attack Iran. Both Israel and the United States have stated they would not rule out a military strike on Tehran to prevent the Islamic Republic from reaching the capability of attacking Israel, or elsewhere, with a nuclear weapon. However, American officials are worried that Israel is closer to concluding that the "point of no return" is at hand, after which it may be too late to stop Iran.

With 15,000 soldiers, diplomats and contractors in Iraq, Iran's neighbor, Washington is worried that an Israeli strike would place them in danger, The Wall Street Journal reported. Israel is concerned that Iranian nuclear capability would give it leverage to achieve its dream of dominating the Muslim world and "wiping Israel off the map" in the words of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Dempsey will meet his counterpart in Israel, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, as well as Defense Minister Ehud Barak and possibly Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. President Barack Obama telephoned the Prime Minister last Thursday and expressed his "unshakeable" commitment to Israel's security, but the White House declined to describe the content of the conversation.

The head of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, on his first official visit to Israel, will try to convince Israel that new sanctions on Iran and the deployment of thousands of U.S. soldiers in Kuwait demonstrate its intention to deter Iran. The United States also has sent a second aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf and underscored its vow to prevent Iran from holding the Western world hostage by closing the passage of oil tankers. - Although no one wants war, in the matter of Iran (and taking out its nuclear weapons), it may have to come to that. Even as our government is sending General Dempsey to calm things down, pray that the Israelis will not bow to undue pressure but will know that they must act, first of all, to protect their own people. Even as Neville Chamberlain learned his own bitter lesson in 1941, negotiations are fine, to a point; but eventually, truth will win out. Evil men must be confronted and stopped. Amen.

** 7. ISRAEL, P.A. AMMAN MEETING YIELDS NO RESULTS

A meeting held Monday [January 9] between Israeli envoy Yitzhak Molko and chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat in Jordan concluded with no significant progress, Palestinian sources told Ynet. The first round of Amman-based talks in the latest effort to restart the peace process took place last week and was mediated by the Mideast Quartet and Jordanian diplomats.

According to the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat, the Palestinians presented Israel with their response to a 22-article document given to them at the end of the first round of talks. The document is said to address various issues including Jerusalem, refugees, borders, security arrangements and water. The paper said that Israel's draft of the document was "too general" and was ambiguous on many of its stands on those issues.

The Palestinians had apparently presented the Israeli team with data on settlement activity in the West Bank [Judea and Samaria], claiming it was "destroying" the two-state solution. They further demanded that Israel present its stand on the future questions of borders in writing.
At this time, it seems that the Palestinians are willing to continue the talks only until January 26, which is when the Quartet's deadline to both parties will elapse. The Palestinians have already submitted their brief on the future Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to the Quartet and are demanding Israel do so as well.

A senior Palestinian source said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had agreed to the talks in Amman, but conditioned actual negotiations with a settlement freeze. Abbas, the source added, agreed to the talks out of appreciation to Jordan's efforts in the matter, but "he does not believe they will mature into true negotiations." (Ynetnews)

- Pray that the Lord will continue to direct these discussions, protecting Israel from unnecessary international pressure to accept preconditions.

- "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:6)

8. IDF: FOUR ATTEMPTS TO ABDUCT SOLDIERS IN 12 DAYS

Unknown people tried to abduct soldiers four times in less than two weeks since the year 2012 began, the IDF said Thursday. In the course of the year 2011, the IDF verified 11 complaints about attempts to abduct soldiers. Other complaints were found to be false. The IDF has decided to launch a consciousness-raising campaign among soldiers and parents to alert them to the danger of abduction. Once a month, for a week, military police in disguise will offer soldiers rides to see if they are willing to climb aboard. Those who do so will be punished. In addition, parents will be alerted to the dangers of hitchhiking. (Israel National News) Read more.

- Please continue to pray for the safety of the IDF. Please pray against Hamas kidnappers, and that all attempts to kidnap soldiers would not succeed.

- "When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you, understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the path of uprightness and walk in the ways of darkness." (Proverbs 2:10-13)

** 9. IDF UPDATES ABDUCTION ALERT TO INCLUDE NAVY

IDF [Israel Defense Forces] Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen Benny Gantz ordered the military's Hannibal Protocol expanded to include Israel's naval forces, Ynet learned on Monday [January 9]. The Hannibal Protocol, first introduced in the late 1980s, is designed to prevent soldiers from being kidnapped by enemy forces and effectively allows commanders to take any action necessary to foil such abduction attempts. The Hannibal Protocol is part of the daily security briefing given to all Ground Forces. As part of the IDF's efforts to thwart such marine attacks, the Military Industries and the INF [Israeli Naval Forces] are currently developing an advanced missile defense system, similar to the Ground Forces' Windbreaker. Over the past few months, INF forces have also been trained in riot control, as detailed by procedures introduced during last summer's Operation Summer Seeds, whose purpose was to prepare the troops for the possibility of confrontations with Palestinians following the Palestinian Authority's bid in the UN. 10. TOP SENATOR: AN ATTACK ON ISRAEL IS AN ATTACK ON THE U.S.

An Iranian attack on Israel would be tantamount to attacking the United States, US Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI) told an auditorium full of high school students in Jerusalem on Monday.

Inouye, introduced to the students by former AIPAC president Robert Asher as the best friend Israel has in Congress, said he discussed the Iranian threat in a meeting earlier in the day with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

"We in the US are deeply concerned with the activities in Iran," said Inouye, who is America's senior senator, having served continuously since 1963. "If the Iranians should ever develop a nuclear device or bomb, that could mean the end of the world as we know it in the Middle East. It would have an impact on all countries, not just Israel. As a result, our position is that if you attack Israel, you are attacking the United States."

Inouye is the president pro tempore of the US Senate, making him third in line to succeed the US president, following the vice president and speaker of the house. He is also chairman of the powerful senate appropriations committee, and is here leading a delegation from that committee that also includes Thad Cochran (R-MS) and Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).

Asked to explain the close US-Israel relationship, Inouye said that "if one looks at most of this world, especially the Middle East, one country stands out as a foundation of stability and as a pillar of democracy. And at a time like this, when you have revolution in Yemen, Bahrain, Syria, Egypt, Tunisia and Jordan, thank God we have Israel." (Jerusalem Post)

** 11. PANETTA: IRAN WILL BE STOPPED IF IT PURSUES NUCLEAR PATH

Days after Obama's official announcement on major budget cutbacks to the US defense budget, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is trying to send a massage of deterrence to Iran and the US' other enemies.

In an interview given by Panetta and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey to CBS News, Panetta made it clear that "our red line to Iran is to not develop a nuclear weapon. That's a red line for us."

General Martin Dempsey tried to avoid answering how hard it would be for the US to take out Iran's nuclear capability but eventually answered, saying: "I'd rather not discuss the degree of difficulty and in any way encourage them to read anything into that."

"But I will say that our - my - responsibility is to encourage the right degree of planning to understand the risks associated with any kind of military option . . . in some cases to position assets, to provide those options . . . in a timely fashion. And all those activities are going on."
When pressed whether the US could "take out their nuclear capability" without using nuclear weapons, Dempsey said this: "I certainly want them to believe that that's the case."

Panetta added: "I think they need to know that...if they take that step, that they're going to get stopped." Dempsey also declared that while the Iranians have the capability to block the Hormuz Straits [between Iran on the east and the Arabian Peninsula on the west] for a time, the US would also be able to "defeat" them if it happened.

As for the possibility of an Israeli strike against Iran and the US' response to such a strike, Panetta said the US would protect its forces in the region. "If the Israelis made that decision, we would have to be prepared to protect our forces in that situation. And that's what we'd be concerned about."

**12. SHARANSKY: OBAMA'S NEW CHIEF OF STAFF "STAUNCH ISRAEL SUPPORTER"

"Jacob Lew is an Orthodox Jew who treats his religion very seriously. It is important for him that his children are raised as Jews," Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky said of the new White House chief of staff.

Sharansky was still a Prisoner of Zion in the former Soviet Union when he first heard of Lew, who had just received his bachelor's degree from Harvard. "He worked as a senior policy adviser to House Speaker Tip O'Neill and was one of the most influential people in Washington, and every negotiation between the White House and Congress passed through him," Sharansky recalled.

"My wife would travel to Washington to promote the struggle for my release, and he and the current director of the Rothschild Foundation in Jerusalem were the ones who fought for us in Congress," he said.

"Lew is a great Israel supporter and has always taken upon himself to help us. The question is not whether he'll be loyal to his boss; he will be. The question is whether Israel is only an abstract thing for him - another one of the players on the field that must be organized according to the boss's wishes - or whether it's more than that," he added. **13. IDF: "INTERNET HAS BECOME A REAL BATTLEFIELD"

"In the past year, the cyber domain has become another battlefront, in addition to the ground, sea and air," said the head of the Computer Service Directorate's Cyber Defense Department at a conference last week. "The Iinternet has become a real battlefield."

"Our job is to make sure that the entire IDF [Israel Defense Forces] is prepared in this area," said the senior officer. He noted that the IDF is establishing a unit to monitor cyber incidents online, as part of the building of forces for this new arena.

The official said that the cyber issue has an operational and real influence beyond cyberspace, which can harm organizations and even countries.

"Terrorist groups understand that there is a huge potential for causing harm to countries or entities, damage that could change the balance," he said. "Our job is to prevent this from happening. In contrast to other battle fronts, time and space have no meaning in the cyber realm. It can be a single hacker or a large group."

The official estimated that the bodies operating against Israel include terrorist groups, organized crime syndicates, enemy countries, professional and amateur hackers, companies, corporations and internal entities.

"Viruses, Trojans and worms have been around for years, yet something has changed," he said. "The entire fabric of our lives, from when we wake up to when we fall asleep, depends on the computer."

US-Israeli discord over action against Iran went into overdrive Sunday, Jan. 15 when the White House called off Austere Challenge 12, the biggest joint war game the US and Israel have every staged, ready to go in spring, in reprisal for a comment by Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon in an early morning radio interview. He said the United States was hesitant over sanctions against Iran's central bank and oil for fear of a spike in oil prices.

1. OBAMA TO GIVE FOURTH STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS ON JAN. 24th

The President will deliver his fourth State of the Union address to Congress next week on Tuesday evening, January 24th. As always, the top leaders of the entire federal government will be assembled inside the chamber of the House of Representatives that night. These include: the President, the Vice-President, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, every member of Congress and the Senate, the President's cabinet, and the nine Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court. And, as always, one sole cabinet member will be assigned to "stand down" during this address, and will be situated elsewhere as a security precaution.

We will have more information for you for prayer next week, including the topics that Mr. Obama will be expected to cover during his speech. In the meantime, please begin to pray from now through next Tuesday night so that all who are in authority, keeping our Capitol safe, will be able to perform their duties with excellence. Thank you.

2. CONGRESS PLACES SANCTIONS ON IRAN

The United States has long embargoed Iranian crude, but has just approved new sanctions targeting Iran's Central Bank, the main conduit for its oil revenues. The European Union, which collectively buys about 500,000 bpd of Iranian oil, is expected to soon impose an embargo halting imports.

As soon as the central bank sanctions passed Congress in December, the US House of Representatives passed another piece of legislation that would close some loopholes in existing sanctions and further choke off trade with Tehran. The House bill included a provision that would deny entry to the United States of any ship that has recently visited a port in Iran, North Korea or Syria.

Similar legislation has been introduced in the Senate. A bipartisan sanctions bill could be considered in committee soon after senators return to work from a winter recess later this month, a Senate aide said on Friday.

House of Representatives Majority Leader Eric Cantor said some officials in the Middle East shared his sense of urgency about the need to stop Iran from getting the capacity to build nuclear weapons. "I think that the consensus is, no one wants Iran to be a nuclear power," Cantor said. (Jerusalem Post) Read more.

- Pray that all of these sanctions will take effect, causing Iran to stand down and to comply with international monitoring of its nuclear sites. If Iran cries "uncle," we may be able to yet avert this war in the Middle East.

3. OBAMA SEEKS TO CONSOLIDATE SIX GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

Obama, looking to make the federal government "leaner, smarter and more consumer-friendly," asked Congress Friday for the authority to merge six trade and commerce agencies as part of a broader effort to rebuild the government for a "21st century economy." His proposal would be to merge six major operations that focus on business and trade: Commerce Department's core business and trade functions, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Export-Import Bank, the Overseas Private Investments and the Trade and Development Agency. Obama is looking to have all of those operations merge into one agency.

Speaking at the White House before a crowd of small-business owners, Obama pledged to streamline and reform the executive branch, and asked Congress to reinstate an authority - last used by former President Reagan - to put his proposal in action. Obama is asking lawmakers to grant him a re-organizational power that would let him propose mergers that would save the government money. The House and Senate would then decide whether to approve his ideas in an up-or-down vote in 90 days.

The president's proposal is an attempt to put Republicans on the defensive in an election year by forcing them to choose whether to support something they have long stood for - reducing the size of government and cutting spending. The plan could help Obama counter charges from the GOP that he is a big-government liberal who has tried to expand the bureaucracy during his term in office. (The Hill)

- Father God, we bind up all ulterior motives in this action. Since this man is saying that businesses would not allow duplication of this kind, we pray that he will follow through and streamline ALL government bureaucracies and downsize government itself and its regulations and red tape. We pray this does not make him more efficient at taking away freedoms and centralizing our government, which is an unconstitutional goal.

4. OBAMA ASKS FOR ADDITIONAL $1.2 MILLION DEBT

You don't have to be superstitious to realize that Friday the 13th is shaping up to be particularly horrific for the U.S. economy. Yesterday, President Obama asked for another $1.2 trillion in borrowing power, cashing in his third and largest increase under the debt deal struck last August. Nothing about the request should come as a surprise. The Treasury Department had predicted the government would be bumping up against the $15.2 trillion limit when they raised it last summer. And since neither party seems willing to draw a line in the sand over real spending cuts, a bigger credit line is the only way to keep Washington's excess afloat.

Under the Budget Control Act, Congress has 15 days to object to the hike. In reality, there's not much leaders can do to stop it from taking effect. Even if the House and Senate passed a bill to oppose the bump, President Obama would simply veto it. Only a two-thirds majority could override him. When the House passes a resolution of disapproval next week, it will be a symbolic rejection of a problem they helped create! Most of them voted for the bill that gave Obama the power to raise the ceiling. If Republicans are outraged by that, they have only themselves to blame.

Rather than holding firm and demanding a reduction in out-of-control spending when they had the leverage last summer, they started playing political games. Now, as Investors' Business Daily argues, members will try to leverage the manufactured crisis as opportunity to score political points. "Both parties in Washington [are playing] the rest of us out here in the audience," writes Andrew Malcolm, "building politically profitable conflict into everyday life, even by the President who's loving travel into the countryside to denounce Washington's gridlocked partisan ways that he helps prolong." While the House can't fix Washington on its own, it can (and should) serve as the biggest obstacle between the Left and financial ruin. That's what voters expect, and given the promises of this leadership, it's what they deserve. (Family Research Council)

5. RAND PAUL RETURNS $500,000 IN OFFICE BUDGET TO TREASURY

Freshman Sen. Rand Paul is making good on his promise to cut federal spending. The Kentucky Republican and tea-party favorite said Thursday he's returning $500,000 to the U.S. Treasury - money from his operating budget that his office never spent. The half million dollars represents about 16 percent of Paul's annual budget. He contended no senator had returned as much to taxpayers, though at least two senators disputed that claim. An aide to Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) said his office returned $636,036 in unspent money to the Treasury in Fiscal Year 2010 and another $503,161 in 2011.

"I ran to stop the reckless spending. And I ran to end the damaging process of elected officials acting as errand boys, competing to see who could bring back the biggest check and the most amount of pork," Paul said at a news conference in Louisville, where he presented taxpayers with a massive mock check for $500,000.

"I hope this sets an example for the rest of government - at all levels," he added. "We can carry out our duties in a fiscally responsible way. Government can be both smart and efficient. We are proving that - and trying to convince the rest of Washington."

Paul is the son of GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul and co-founded the Senate tea party caucus. As the younger Paul stumped for his father in Iowa and New Hampshire, there's been plenty of speculation that Rand Paul could launch a presidential bid of his own in 2016.

6. REP. JOHNSON TO INTRODUCE PART-TIME CONGRESS PROPOSAL

Texas Gov. Rick Perry's part-time Congress proposal has become the blueprint for a bill Rep. Timothy Johnson, an Illinois Republican, will introduce next week.

The Citizen Legislators Act would limit the days Congress works to five per month, or 60 business days per session.

It also would cut the salaries of representatives and senators in half. But like Perry's plan, Johnson's bill allows members to have jobs outside of Congress. The caveat is that their income cannot be earned as "a result of the privilege of their office, such as speaking tours, lobbying and consulting."

7. SUPREME COURT RULING LANDMARK FOR RELIGION

Justices allow firing of teacher by church in bias case brought by government

Religious organizations won a landmark victory Wednesday as the Supreme Court held that churches have the right to make employment decisions free from government interference over discrimination laws. In a 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court endorsed for the first time the "ministerial exception" to state and federal employment discrimination laws while rejecting the Obama administration's argument that churches should be treated no differently than other employers.

"The interest of society in the enforcement of employment discrimination statutes is undoubtedly important. But so too is the interest of religious groups in choosing who will preach their beliefs, teach their faith, and carry out their mission," said Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., who wrote the court's 39-page opinion.

"When a minister who has been fired sues her church alleging that her termination was discriminatory, the First Amendment has struck the balance for us," Chief Justice Roberts said. "The church must be free to choose those who will guide it on its way." (The Washington Times)

8. REID PUSHES ONLINE PIRACY BILL DESPITE WHITE HOUSE CONCERNS

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) vowed to move forward with a controversial online piracy bill on Sunday, despite the White House expressing concern with the measure. "It's important that we try to do this on a fair basis, and I'm going to do everything I can to get that done," Reid said.

He acknowledged that the bill has come under intense fire from consumer groups and Web companies including Google and Facebook, who say it would stifle innovation and censor free speech. "I think they're right, I think it could create some problems," Reid admitted, but he expressed confidence that an amended version of the bill could be a "winner for everyone, not just for the content people."

The Senate's Protect IP Act and its House counterpart, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), are designed to go after foreign websites that offer illegal copies of music, movies and TV shows with impunity. The bills would empower the Justice Department and copyright holders to demand that search engines delete links to sites "dedicated" to copyright infringement. Ad networks and payment processors would be prohibited from doing business with the sites.
In a statement on Saturday, senior White House officials said they would oppose any piracy law that "reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet." In particular, the officials criticized a provision that would require Internet service providers to block infringing websites through a process known as Domain Name System filtering.

The Senate is scheduled to vote on Protect IP on Jan. 24. The status of SOPA (the House bill) is unclear. Rep. Smith, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee, has promised to push ahead with the bill, but Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) has promised him the House will not vote on it unless there is a "consensus" on the bill. (The Hill) Read more.

We thank You, too, that it seems that the White House is now listening to these concerns. 9. LAWMAKERS QUESTION DHS SOCIAL MEDIA MONITORING PROGRAM

Members of Congress are pressing the Department of Homeland Security to provide more information about a controversial social-media monitoring program, citing "privacy and civil liberties concerns."

The lawmakers, the Republican and Democratic heads of a House counterterrorism panel, expressed support for the goal of the program, calling social media a "crucial source" of intelligence around the world. They said in a letter last month that it is "advantageous" for DHS to draw out information to "identify current or emerging threats to our homeland security."

But they also urged the department to "be mindful of the rights" of citizens to "express themselves online."

"Although there are clear advantages to monitoring social media to identify possible threats to our security, there are also privacy and civil liberties concerns implicit in this activity," wrote Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-Pa., chairman of the House Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, and Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., ranking Democrat on the panel.

"Not only should any guidance issued by the department permit analysts to do their jobs identifying threats, but it should also be stringent enough to protect the rights of our citizens," they wrote. (Fox News)

Come against every effort of this government to deprive us of our civil rights, and to be able to freely engage in debates and discussions questioning federal policy. 10. SENATORS WARN NEW EPA RULES WOULD RAISE GAS PRICES

Senators from both sides of the aisle are warning that looming EPA regulations on gasoline could impose billions of dollars in additional costs on the industry and end up adding up to 25 cents to every gallon of gas.

The senators, in a letter this week to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, urged the agency to back off the yet-to-be-released regulations. Though the EPA has not yet issued any proposal, they claimed the agency is planning to call for a new requirement to reduce the sulfur content in gasoline.

The lawmakers on the letter were: Sens. James Inhofe, R-Okla.; Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; Mary Landrieu, D-La.; David Vitter, R-La.; and Mark Begich, D-Alaska.

11. H.R. 3166: THE ENEMY EXPATRIATE ACT

The computer hacker group called Anonymous that recently shut down over 40 hard core child pornography websites, has its sights now set on the "Enemy Expatriation Act" (H.R. 3166) which it claims is another "Treasonous bill similar to the National Defense Authorization Act that was signed into law by President Obama on New Years' Eve."

The group has released a statement saying the media refused to cover (until it was too late) the NDAA act, which authorizes the indefinite detention of American citizens on U.S. soil, and now the same thing is happening with The Enemy Expatriation Act, it alleges.

"The Enemy Expatriation Act has been introduced in the House, and again, the media refuses to cover it. The American public have the right to know about a bill that could revoke their United States citizenship, and the continuing media blackout poses a serious threat to the freedoms this country pledges to provide its citizens," says the group's statement. 12. AMERICANS PLAN NATIONWIDE PROTEST OF NDAA ACT

Across the country Americans plan to protest the recent passage of the NDAA bill and signing on New Year's Eve by President Obama. Citizens will gather outside congressional offices (including in their home districts) Feb. 3rd from noon to 7 p.m. to protest NDAA 2012 (H.R. 1540), the controversial National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012.

Many Americans were shocked when it was signed quietly by President Obama New Year's eve for it gives the U.S. Military and other agencies in the government Egyptian military style powers of arrest and detention of Americans anywhere, anytime and for any reason.

The act also allows them to be indefinitely detained without access to an attorney or a trial by jury. Indefinite means they could be held for life.

Amendments to exclude American citizens were rejected by the Obama administration and senate vote.
Some say this is one of the worst pieces of legislation regarding the constitutional rights of Americans to ever be signed into law.

Organizers say the objective of the February demonstration is to force congressional representatives into repealing Section 1021 and 1022, which could lead to the indefinite military detention of Americans without due process of law.

The protest is not affiliated with any particular political or grassroots organizations and organizers say they are uniting as individuals who want to "stop this tyranny before it gets worse."
On its website the group says, "Congress and President Obama have declared war on Americans. The last time America was declared a military zone President Roosevelt authorized the internment of Americans with Executive Order 9066, issued February 19, 1942.

Senator Graham has said that America is part of the battlefield, and as such, Americans can be captured, interrogated, and killed with no due process.

NDAA 2012 repeals the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th amendments to the Constitution. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and declares our right to due process. No law shall supersede it. We have a right to our day in court with a jury of our peers." (Sky Valley Chronicle)

1. Japan 'to reduce Iran oil imports' - BBC

Japan will take "concrete steps" to reduce its oil dependency on Iran, its finance minister has announced. The comments from Jun Azumi came after he met US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in Tokyo.

- Father, we pray these measures against Iran will be productive. We pray Iran will bow its knee, and stop their path toward destruction.

2. Children 'dumped in streets by Greek parents who can't afford to look after them any more' - Daily Mail

Children are being abandoned on Greece's streets by their poverty-stricken families who cannot afford to look after them any more. Youngsters are being dumped by their parents who are struggling to make ends meet in what is fast becoming the most tragic human consequence of the Euro crisis.

- Father, we intercede for these families who are experiencing these tragic struggles. Protect these children who are abandoned. We place the angels of God to surround them and keep them safe.

3. Iranian Nuclear Scientist Killed by Bomb Attached to Motorcycle - AP

Two assailants on a motorcycle attached magnetic bombs on Wednesday to the car of an Iranian university professor working at a key nuclear facility, killing him and wounding two others, a semiofficial news agency reported.

The bomb explosion killed Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a chemistry expert and a director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in central Iran, the semiofficial Fars news agency reported.

The killing of Roshan was similar to previous assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists that Tehran has blamed on Israel and the United States. Both countries have denied the accusations.

4. US Homeland Security watches Twitter, social media - Reuters

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's command center routinely monitors dozens of popular websites, including Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, WikiLeaks and news and gossip sites including the Huffington Post and Drudge Report, according to a government document. A "privacy compliance review" issued by DHS last November says that since at least June 2010, its national operations center has been operating a "Social Networking/Media Capability" which involves regular monitoring of "publicly available online forums, blogs, public websites and message boards."

5. Chamber of Commerce to Obama: You 'Missed the Biggest In-Sourcing Opportunity' --Keystone Pipeline - CNS News

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reminded America on Thursday that Obama recently rejected one of the most prominent and beneficial insourced opportunities: the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry tar sand oil through middle America to refineries on the Gulf Coast and create at least 20,000 jobs.

The 1,700-mile Keystone pipeline, which starts in Canada and would end on the Texas coast, has been under review by the Obama administration's State Department for several years. While a green light from the State Department for the project was expected last fall, the department, under pressure from environmentalists, decided in November to delay its decision until 2013.

On Thursday, Bruce Josten, vice president of government affairs with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, cited Obama's announcement on Wednesday that he would "reward" businesses that bring jobs to the United States through tax credits. Josten, however, added, "The president missed the biggest in-sourcing opportunity yesterday and it's called the Keystone Pipeline."

According to the report, the population of Jewish settlers in Area C of the West Bank is increasing while the population of Palestinians is shrinking. "If current trends are not stopped and reversed, the establishment of a viable Palestinian state within pre-1967 borders seem more remote than ever," the report laments. An Israeli Foreign Ministry statement reacting to criticism of Israel's settlement activities late last year declared that if the EU kept focusing on Israel and ignoring massive problems elsewhere in the region it is "bound to lose their credibility and make themselves irrelevant."

5. Israel and the PA hold agricultural seminar - ICEJ News

The Israeli Ministry of Agriculture's chief of Veterinary services recently met with a delegation of professionals from the Palestinian Authority to discuss various issues, including information-sharing and other joint projects. The PA's animal doctors presented the numbers of vaccines they plan on requesting from Israel in the coming year for the large herds of goats, sheep and camels, as well as other domestic animals used by Palestinian farmers and shepherds in the West Bank. They also discussed plans for joint workshops to teach agricultural/horticultural methods and to share information, part of a regular series of meetings held to maintain cooperation in agriculture between the two sides.

A remedy for a decaying society

Many well intended people have been writing me asking what they can do to effectively change the direction of this country. They often enumerate all the work they are doing seemingly to no avail. Thank you for writing, and please, do not grow weary in what you are doing. I do believe, however, that we as Christians and as Christian Americans are needing to take stronger action. We cannot put our trust in organizations that have no strong religious and moral base. The start of anything lasting must have the Lord's hand on it. But this is a real problem in America because people run from anything Christian or smacking of Christianity--it is a real testimony to our job as evangelists over the past 40 years (and not a good one).

There are reasons why our country is headed in the wrong direction. The pulpit has been milk toast for so long that the flock has no idea what it really means to be a Christian and to behave like one. Preachers and teachers have been making Christ what man wants him to be instead of what he is. This is a real threat to true salvation as deception is rampant. Additionally, most people are so busy living day to day life that they have no interest in or the extra energy it takes to study the Bible on their own or to actively pursue righteousness and justice in society. It could be laziness, selfishness, apathy or just being too busy, but whatever the reasoning, the outcome is what we have as a society today.

We complain about the election system--that our choices are between the lesser of two evils. We, however, shun the process of initially selecting those candidates from the actual caucusing and primary processes, neglecting that the very first step in vetting and qualifying good candidates to stand for office--"able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness (Exodus 18:21)." And who among those would even want to put themselves in the public arena? The bias and the scrutiny of the news media and of fellow American opponents twisting good things and turning them into evil is allegorically akin to having your family watch you being slaughtered by a gladiator or the lions in the ancient coliseums.

It is fast coming to the point where we Christians, as a people group, will be faced with a decision similar to that of Peter and the Apostles in Acts 5:29: "We ought to obey God rather than men." We are fast approaching the day when we are either going to publicly, through some form of civil disobedience, have to take back our society, or submit to the realization that we have lost it. But before we do anything, we need to understand who we are in Christ, who is the real Christ (not what men have made Christ through extra-biblical, self-indulgent, self-aggrandizing, emotionalism), repent from our adultery and idolatry, and seek God's true heart for our salvation and the direction of our nation.

The Story of Tim Tebow

Pam's Story: A woman named Pam . . . knows the pain of considering abortion.

More than 24 years ago, she and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Philippines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant.

Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. Pam said the doctors didn't think of it as a life, they thought of it as a mass of fetal tissue.

While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we'll name him Timothy and we'll make him a preacher.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam's youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father's ministry in the Philippines. He also plays football. Pam's son is Tim Tebow.

The University of Florida's star quarterback became the first sophomore in history to win college football's highest award, the Heisman Trophy. His current role as quarterback of the Denver Broncos has provided an incredible platform for Christian witness. As a result, he is being called The Mile-High Messiah.

Tim's notoriety and the family's inspiring story have given Pam numerous opportunities to speak on behalf of women's centers across the country. Pam Tebow believes that every little baby you save matters.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always!

The Lord is now using this young Denver Broncos quarterback to draw attention to Himself!!

In last week's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tebow -- who is known for his display of JOHN 3:16 when he plays, and who BOWS TO THE LORD during each game -- threw the winning pass in overtime of 316 yards! 316 -- there's that number, again!

The NFL fans across the nation went crazy! Suddenly, everyone went to Google and typed in: JOHN 3:16! What was this Bible verse that Tebow wears? And what does it say??

As the sportscasters continued to analyze this amazing game, they discovered that Tebow also averaged 31.6 yards per completion. And to top it off, the Neilsen rating for the last 15 minutes of that game was: 31.6 million viewers!

So, there's that number again: 3:16. Is God speaking from heaven? Does He love us, as the verse promises? And are MANY MULTITUDES now discovering His love through a football game?

1. US naval strike group arrives in Arabian Sea as tensions rise with Iran - Fox News

A new aircraft carrier strike group has entered the Arabian Sea and another is on its way, a Pentagon official said in a news briefing Wednesday -- a shuffling of the U.S. fleet amid rising tensions with Iran. Read more.

- Father we pray that Your Spirit will decide the outcome of these new tensions between Iran and Israel/US. We call for Your holy angels to stand guard over the troops on board the carriers, and protect the people of Israel against all plans of Iran to destroy them.

2. Nigeria oil union threats shutdown amid strike - AP

A union representing 20,000 oil and gas workers in Nigeria threatened Thursday it would shut down all production starting Sunday to take part in the crippling nationwide strike over spiraling fuel prices.

The strike began Monday after the Nigerian government reversed a two-decade-long popular subsidy program that had kept gas prices low for Nigerian consumers. Anger over the government's decision has led to demonstrations across Africa's most populous nation, and related violence has left at least 10 people dead.

3. Top U.S. official meets with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood - Haaretz

Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns met Mohamed Morsi, the head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), in Washington's highest level outreach to the Islamist group as part of a series of meetings with Egyptian political figures in Cairo, the State Department said. "From our perspective it was an opportunity to hear from them and to reinforce our expectation that all the major parties will support human rights, tolerance, rights of women and will also uphold Egypt's existing international obligations," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

- Father, we pray that wisdom will rise in our leadership, so that they are not deceived in such meetings. Because it is permissible for these people to lie to "infidels," our leaders may be naïve and walking into situations for which they are not prepared. 5. High Court Backs Church in Religious Liberty Case - Fox News

The Supreme Court has sided unanimously with a church sued for firing an employee on religious grounds, issuing an opinion on Wednesday that religious employers can keep the government out of hiring and firing decisions. Read more.

6. FBI Probes Firebombing of New Jersey Synagogue - AP

Several Molotov cocktails and other incendiary devices were thrown at a northern New Jersey synagogue early Wednesday, igniting a fire in the second-floor bedroom of the rabbi's residence in an attack that is being treated as both a bias crime and attempted murder, police said.

Wednesday's attack on Congregation Beth El in Rutherford was the fourth bias incident within a month against a Jewish religious institution or center in northern New Jersey, police said. Within the last three weeks, a fire was intentionally set at a synagogue in Paramus and anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered at synagogues in Hackensack and Maywood. Read more.

The days of medical masks at airports and widespread panic may be coming back-that's because at least 12 humans are believed to have been infected with a new strain of swine flu that's not covered by this season's vaccine. The new swine flu strain, H3N2v, has shown at least some potential for human-to-human transmission in those 12 individuals, which makes it especially dangerous.

The leading French newspaper Le Figaro reported on Wednesday that Israeli Mossad agents are recruiting and training Iranian dissidents from Iraq's Kurdish region to work against the regime in Tehran.

Quoting a security source in Baghdad, Le Figaro reported that members of the Israeli intelligence agency are actively operating in Kurdistan and recruiting Iranian exiles in the region.

Egyptian Islamists and other activists vowed Wednesday to prevent Israelis from making an annual pilgrimage to the tomb of a 19th-century Jewish holy man in the Nile Delta. Pilgrimage opponents have decided to stage protests on roads leading to the tomb of Rabbi Yaakov Abuhatzeira in the village of Daymouta, 180 kilometers (112 miles) north of Cairo, said Gamal Heshmat of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group which is the country's best organized political movement.

The Responsibility of Freedom and America's Civilization Jihad

While American leaders are busy telling everybody that Islam is a peaceful religion that should be tolerated and celebrated, Islamic colonial operatives in the United States are busy trying to take over. The majority seems to be oblivious. Citizens appear to be too busy with their lives or too uninterested in their civic responsibilities to understand the colonization of America by a totalitarian system conveniently disguised as a religion. There seems to be no alarm that our government has even embraced the Muslim Brotherhood, the designated Islamic umbrella organization fomenting jihad, colonization and establishment of global Sharia Law.

The headlines just this week should be enough to jolt any true American back to reality. Former Michigan Republican Congressman Mark Siljander has been sentenced to a year in prison for assisting a jihadist Islamic charity organization. Oklahoma's proposed ban on Sharia Law, which was approved by 70% of the state's voters, was struck down by a US Federal Appeals Court.

The Islamist in charge of Oklahoma's Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) told AP, "This is an important reminder that the Constitution is the last line of defense against a rising tide of anti-Muslim bigotry in our society, and we are pleased that the appeals court recognized that." Imagine that: using our Constitution to justify tyranny.

An Islamic naturalized US citizen tried to blow up buildings in Tampa, Florida, saying he wanted to instill more terror in the hearts of infidels as payback for wrongs done to Muslims, according to the FBI report. Florida's CAIR directors told the news media, "The weapons and explosives were provided by the government. Was he just a troubled individual, or did he pose a real threat?" Other CAIR representatives from California and Michigan weighed in saying that the FBI entrapped Kosovo-born Sami Osmakac, who planned to blow up bridges, night clubs and a police station in Tampa. Testimony in the Holy Land Foundation trial in Texas indicated that CAIR founders were part of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In the same trial, documentation was presented that the Muslim Brotherhood had a plan to colonize America by creating a "Civilization Jihad" on all fronts of society. What happens when Islam takes over? According to Open Doors, an organization that tracks Christian persecution, Islamic nations comprise nine of the top 10 nations and 38 of the top 50 nations persecuting Christians. Strange that Afghanistan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia--countries where American leadership is vested politically and financially--are top ten persecutors. So long as American citizens do nothing to stop the spread of this tyrannical antichrist false religion, persecution and terror will advance. Romans 12:21 exhorts: "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." With liberty there comes responsibility to keep it.

Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi has been called the most influential Islamic cleric in the world. He's the "spiritual leader" of the Muslim Brotherhood, and a vocal proponent of the Islamic caliphate and sharia rule. He's called for the killing of U.S. troops in Iraq and has supported suicide bombings against Israeli civilians. And according to reports, Qaradawi is acting as a mediator in secret U.S. talks with the Taliban.

Focus on Child Tax Credits

While the press picks on Rick Santorum for his social views, the Wall Street Journal is attacking the former Senator from another angle: his pro-family economic plan. In Monday's edition, editors complain that the "most disappointing" part of the Pennsylvanian's proposal is his idea to triple the child tax credit from $1,000 today, which the WSJ claims is "social policy masquerading as economics." The paper accuses Santorum of unfairly rewarding taxpayers who have children over those who don't. But at the root of these accusations is a fundamental misunderstanding about how the economy works. The child tax credit, which was originally conceived, developed, and promoted by FRC, recognizes that the American family is the engine that drives the U.S. economy. A world with fewer children means a world with fewer taxpayers.

Sen. Santorum recognizes, as we do, that a modest tax credit now is a small investment to make in the growth of human capital, which is shrinking at an alarming rate. Who does the Wall Street Journal expect to pay down the debt, fund social security benefits, and pick up the tab for big government programs in the future? Certainly not those who aren't having children. America's tax policy should reward the families who are raising taxpayers who will carry these economic burdens in the coming years. The principle of fairness applies to the tax treatment of the family: it should get the same deductions in the tax code as business does for similar investments in human capital. It's simple: if you're interested in growing the U.S. economy, you'll support tax credits for married families raising children. (Family Research Council)

Doomsday Clock Updates 'Minutes To Midnight'

Humanity will soon be getting an update on how close we are to catastrophic destruction, as scientists and security experts decide whether to nudge the hands of the famous "Doomsday Clock" forward toward midnight - and doom - or back toward security and safety.

The clock, in use as a symbol of imminent apocalypse since 1947, now stands at six minutes to midnight. On Tuesday (Jan. 10), the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) will announce whether they will nudge the minute hand forward or backward to reflect current trends in world security. The last time the clock hand moved was in 2010, when the group moved the hand from five minutes to midnight back to six.

In making the decision, the Bulletin considers the current state of nuclear weapons, climate change and biosecurity, along with other issues that could influence humanity's survival. The closest the clock has been to midnight has been 11:57 p.m., set in 1984 when the U.S. and the Soviet Union were in a diplomatic stand-off and tensions were high. The farthest humanity has ever been from destruction, according to the clock, was in 1991, when the Doomsday Clock stood at 17 minutes to midnight. That year, the Cold War over, the U.S. and Russia began cutting their arsenals.

The clock ticked back toward midnight at the next update in 1995, however, when hopes of total nuclear disarmament began to fade. That update set the hands at 14 minutes until midnight. In recent years, the clock has ticked closer to destruction as the Bulletin has focused on concerns about nuclear terrorism and climate change.

The 2010 shift away from doomsday was due to nuclear agreements between the U.S. and Russia and productive climate talks at Copenhagen.

The announcement of the new "doomsday time" will come at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday. The Bulletin is expected to consider factors ranging from Iran's nuclear program to the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster to the state of policy on climate change.

Each program shows actual footage, in old black-and- white films, of different battle fronts in these wars.

We have also been blessed to honor the many heroes who have fought in these wars to secure our own freedom as American citizens . . .

Sadly, however, this channel also documents the atrocities of the Holocaust, again in great detail, that will make you cringe . . . not only what happened at Auschwitz and the other death camps. but also the millions that were sought out and slain during military campaigns that preceded that horror. And we say: "NEVER AGAIN!"

And now, in this nuclear age, if we are to learn anything from history, the Military Channel truly gives us food for thought.

1. Appeals court affirms order blocking Oklahoma sharia law ban - LA Times

A federal appeals court has upheld a ruling that blocked the implementation of an Oklahoma law barring judges from considering international or Islamic law in their decisions. The U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, in a ruling released Tuesday, affirmed an order by a district court judge in 2010 that prevented the voter-approved state constitutional amendment from taking effect. The measure, known as State Question 755, was approved with 70% of the vote in 2010.

- Lord, while we are disappointed in the federal court's ruling, still we thank You for our beautiful Constitution and Bill of Rights! Help us, and our courts, to increasingly understand the need for vigilance and action against those who have openly spoken of their determination to subdue our nation to their religious laws. Prosper the efforts of those who are working to prevent the injustices of sharia law from functioning freely in America. 2. Syria's Assad addresses supporters in Damascus square - New York Times

Syrian President Bashar Assad, fighting 10 months of pro-democracy protests, greeted thousands of rapturous supporters in a Damascus square on Wednesday. The crowd shouted "Shabiha forever, for your eyes, Assad", a reference to loyalist militiamen who have gained a fearsome reputation for their part in suppressing anti-Assad protests."We will make this phase the end for them and their plans. We are going to win without any doubt." stated Assad as he vowed to strike "terrorists" with an iron fist and derided Arab League efforts to halt violence.

- Lord, we pray for the salvation of the people of Syria and specifically ask for the divine protection of Christians still living there. Your eyes have watched over Damascus, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, since the ancient times. Lord, just as You transformed Saul and his murderous intents on the road to Damascus by Your glorious appearing, make this city a place of miracles in the Middle East. Let Your power defy tyranny and open channels for the Gospel to prosper!

3. US Coast Guard Rescues Iranian Mariners - VOA News

For the second time in a week, the U.S. military says its forces in the Persian Gulf region have come to the rescue of Iranian sailors aboard a distressed vessel. The U.S. Navy says the U.S. Coast Guard transferred the Iranian crew members to safety aboard the U.S. cutter Monomoy. A Navy statement quotes the owner of the Iranian vessel as thanking the U.S. seamen for rescuing the sailors, saying that without the Americans' help, they would be dead. Last Thursday, the U.S. Navy rescued 13 Iranian fishermen who had been captured by Somali pirates in the northern Arabian Sea.

- Lord, we thank You that even in the face of Iranian warnings commanding us not to return our aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf, and in the face of Iran's threats to impact world oil supplies by shutting down the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Coast Guard has "blessed our enemies" by saving their lives. We ask that these acts of rescue will transform the lives of the Iranians involved, bringing favor and an openness to the Gospel. We ask for protection for all our military in that volatile area, Lord, and we pray that Your hand will prevent Iran from building a nuclear bomb to destroy Israel and others.

4. Visiting Catholic Bishops Decide: "Gaza is a Prison" - Arutz Sheva

Eight Catholic bishops from Europe and North America have just visited the Christian community in Gaza. French Bishop Dubost's comment was, "Last week, I asked prisoners in the largest prison in Europe (in Evry) to pray for you". The inference is clear: Gaza's Christians are living in a big prison and terrified by Israel. Not a word about the Islamic repression of that tiny Christian community in Gaza - and Bethlehem and the rest of the PA. News.va, the Roman Catholic Church news agency, published a report on the event, writing, "The signs of the 2009 conflict and the continuing Israeli air strikes are all around." No mention of rockets on Israeli civilians, nor Islamic persecution of Christians. Last September, Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, named by Pope Benedict XVI, was at the White House for a meeting with the American administration, as well as to support the PA statehood bid at the UN.

- Lord, it is grievous to see this open display of anti-Semitism by those professing Your Name. We pray for Your help and protection over the believers in Gaza who are surrounded by those whose holy book commands the slaying of both Christians and Jews. Protect Your people in Gaza, just as You protected the Hebrews in the land of Goshen in the days of Moses.

- "And in that day I will set apart (protect from the plagues) the land of Goshen in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies be there, in order that you may know that I AM the Lord in the midst of the land. " (Exodus 8:22)

5. DC Council Considering Gay Divorce Bill - CBS News

The D.C. Council is considering legislation that would make it easier for gay and lesbian couples who marry in the nation's capital to get divorced. Washington began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in March 2010. Six states also allow same-sex marriage. The Committee on the Judiciary voted unanimously Tuesday to send the bill to the full council.

- How long, Lord, will our nation's capital lead our nation in defying Your laws and presuming upon Your mercy? We ask for forgiveness for our nation's great sins, O Lord. Remember us in mercy and not according to the deeds with which we and our leaders have rebelled against You. For it is only through Your mercies that we are not consumed, and because of Your unfailing compassion that we are not destroyed. (Lamentations 3: 22,23) May Godly obedience be what is highly favored in our nation.

6. Alaska snow and ice cuts off Cordova and Nome - BBC

Extreme winter weather has left one Alaskan town battling huge snowdrifts and forced another to seek fuel supplies from a Russian tanker. National Guard troops are in Cordova, helping the town dig out after fresh snowfalls on Tuesday added to the 18ft (5.5m) that has fallen since November. A US Coast Guard icebreaker and a Russian tanker are trying to resupply Nome, cut off by thick sea ice. The scale of the mission is unprecedented for the US Coast Guard in the Arctic. If they succeed, they would be the first ships to make a delivery to western Alaska in the depths of winter. Dozens of National Guard soldiers are helping dig out drifts in order to keep municipal buildings, including the hospital, open and make sure residents can leave their homes.

- Dear Lord, we thank You for sending help to our fellow citizens who are struggling against the effects of severe weather; cut off from supplies by multiple heavy snowstorms and ice forming rains. We pray divine protection for the citizens of this beleaguered area and also those who have come to assist them. In Jesus' Name, reveal Yourself in mercy through these difficulties.

1. Israel's Mossad recruiting Iranian dissidents to work against Tehran regime - Ha'aretz

The leading French newspaper Le Figaro reported on Wednesday that Israeli Mossad agents are recruiting and training Iranian dissidents from Iraq's Kurdish region to work against the regime in Tehran.

2. Israel preparing for nuclear Iran: report - AFP

Israel is preparing for Iran to become a nuclear power and has accepted it may happen within a year, the London Times reported on Monday citing an Israeli security report.

3. Netanyahu mulls gestures toward Palestinians to keep peace talks going - Ha'aretz

At the request of American and Jordanian authorities, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering several confidence-building measures vis-a-vis the Palestinians. In return, the prime minister expects Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to continue the talks that began in Jordan a week ago, and to refrain from pursuing statehood at the United Nations.

4. Hamas PM: Israel to face 'difficult days' - Ynet News

The prime minister in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip promised "difficult days" for Israel on Monday, and at a rally in Tunis urged Arab Spring revolutionaries to fight for an independent Palestine.

IRAQ WELCOMES IRANIAN MILITIA

SUMMARY: Just a month after the withdrawal of NATO troops from Iraq, the government has welcomed an Iranian-backed militia into its political system. Experts say this could "tilt the nation's center of gravity closer to Iran."
Asaib Ahl al-Haq was one of the deadliest insurgent groups operating in Iraq during the nine-year war. The militia bombed "military convoys and bases, assassinated dozens of Iraqi officials," and tried to carry out kidnappings even as the last NATO forces were leaving the region.

Since the withdrawal of troops in December, a series of deadly attacks have threatened the political stability of the nation. The government's strategy is to make peace with as many insurgent groups as possible - including Asaib Ahl al-Haq.

Many are skeptical of this plan. They believe it could backfire. "Iraq's government could embolden a militia with an almost nonexistent track record of peace [Asaib Ahl al-Haq] while potentially handing Tehran [Iran] greater influence."

Asaib Ahl al-Haq (translated "League of the Righteous") has a history of violence. In June, they joined with other Iranian-backed groups to attack NATO military bases.

"I think it is a dangerous step, this move by the government," said the speaker of Iraq's Parliament, "to join with groups that do not believe in a peaceful political process."

PRAY FOR:

- the leadership void in Iraq to be filled with men and women who will govern with integrity, in humility and the fear of the Lord. (The Bible, Daniel 2:21)

Which Christ do you follow?

The world is moving toward oppression and the United States is leading the way. By assisting in the overthrow of Middle Eastern governments, and insisting on elections for Islamists, America is pushing tyranny on people around the world. At home, the American government--Republicans and Democrats alike--is whittling away on the very Constitutional rights of free speech, freedom of religion, privacy, property ownership, and free enterprise. What made America great in the past is that as a free people, we had the courage to stand against such tyranny not promote it. It came from within the heart and soul of being an American. This rugged individualism and independence characterized Americans. Where has it gone?

In my humble opinion, just from observing events over the past 35 years, there is no longer much national identity as an American. Our national identity was that of a Christian nation. Even if not all the people were Christian, they recognized that Christian morals were an acceptable and preferred qualification for leadership. Couple this with the lack of border security resulting in millions upon millions of people unlawfully entering the country, the dilution of national identity is accelerated. Additionally, most Americans have either bought in to the leftist humanist mantra, or are too busy with their lives to care. The vacuum of leadership politically and spiritually in this nation has left it a dry, amoral place of apathy.

The Apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 4:17-19, "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator." The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:13-14, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?"

Jesus said in Matthew 24:23, "Then if any man shall say unto you Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not." Our national identity and, more importantly, our personal salvation is diluted tremendously if we, as Peter put it, "scarcely be saved." If America's preachers are so intent on preaching/teaching a self indulgent, extra Biblical and emotional version of the Christ, then what Christ are we following--the real Son of God, crucified and risen, for our sins, or some humanist version of Christ that fits a social or political extra-biblical gospel? It is here, not on the national policy front, that we as a people have lost our identity. This should be a serious personal consideration that gives weight to working out your salvation with fear and trembling.

Forbes Hails Unanimous Supreme Court Decision Reaffirming Religious Liberty in Hiring Practices

Washington, D.C. - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04), Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, hailed the Supreme Court's unanimous religious liberty decision today in Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC, which affirmed the right of churches to make employment decisions without government interference. Courts have long agreed that the "ministerial exception" prevents the government from intervening in churches' employment decisions regarding clergy, but courts had previously split on whether the exception extends to other employees engaged in ministerial functions.

"Our nation was founded in part by men and women of faith seeking to escape the government's interference in their form of worship, directives on fundamental tenants of religion, and selection of ministers to lead their congregations. This quest for religious liberty was not only a bedrock upon which colonies were later built, but more importantly, it led to the Constitution's guarantee of the free exercise of religion without government meddling. Today's unanimous Supreme Court ruling reaffirms our nation's historical, religious, and legal heritage in upholding the right of churches to select leaders who instruct their faithful, whether from the church pulpit or the classroom podium, based on religious conviction rather than government fiat," said Forbes.
Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC has been called one of the most important religious liberty cases of this decade, and importantly, the Court's holding determines that the government may not control a church's selection of its religious leaders. The case originated when a teacher at a church school was fired for failing to comply with the church's teaching, and sued the school alleging that her dismissal was based on disability discrimination.

Supreme Court Hears TV Profanity, Nudity Case

HIGH COURT HEARS TV PROFANITY, NUDITY CASE

In an hour-long episode, Supreme Court justices on Tuesday considered the government's power to regulate expletives and nudity on the airwaves.

"All we are asking for, what the government is asking for," Chief Justice John Roberts said, "is a few channels where you can say, 'I'm not going to . . . hear the "S" word, the "F" word.' "

With their free speech rights at issue, the major television networks are contesting the Federal Communications Commission's indecency policy that was upheld in a 1978 dispute over Carlin's act. The networks' challenge involved more recent events.

One was a 2002 awards show during which singer Cher blurted out an expletive. Another was a 2003 show when actress Nicole Ritchie used two expletives. A third was a seven-second shot of a woman's nude buttocks on a 2003 "NYPD Blue" episode on Walt Disney Co's ABC that led to $1.21 million in fines.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether the FCC's indecency policy should be struck down as unconstitutionally vague and for violating free-speech rights under the Constitution's First Amendment.

Central to the case is the FCC's right to regulate broadcast speech differently and more restrictively than other media in an effort to protect children from indecent content, even brief nudity or a single expletive blurted out on a live show.

In the Cher and Nicole Ritchie outbursts, the FCC ruled in 2006 that News Corp's Fox violated the indecency policy. Government lawyers said the policy covered so-called "fleeting expletives" such as the "F-word" and the "S-word" that denote "sexual or excretory activities," respectively.

The FCC ruled against the network in the "NYPD Blue" case, but a U.S. appeals court threw out the fines in striking down the policy.

The Obama administration has defended the FCC's policy as constitutional, arguing regulation of broadcast indecency does not violate the First Amendment, is needed and should be upheld.

The Good News Corner: Texas' Sonogram Law Ruled Constitutional, Signaling Biggest Pro-Life Victory This Decade

U.S. Fifth Circuit Court Upholds Law Stating Sonograms Must Be Performed
24 Hours Before Abortions

Today, Liberty Institute announced a major pro-life victory when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit declared constitutional the recently enacted Texas Sonogram Law, also known as HB 15. The Fifth Circuit's decision overturned a controversial ruling by U.S. District Judge Sparks, which enjoined the Texas law co-authored by Senator Dan Patrick and Representative Sid Miller and was signed into law by Governor Rick Perry in May 2011. The law requires doctors and certified sonographers to perform a sonogram on women seeking an abortion at least 24 hours before the procedure.

"This is one of the most important victories in the past 10 years for informed consent for women seeking an abortion," said Jonathan Saenz, Liberty Institute Attorney who heads the office at the Texas Capitol and provided the main legal testimony for the bill during the legislative process. "Women and unborn children in Texas are safer today because of this decision and no longer subject to the abuse of abortion doctors who deny women critical medical information."

HB 15, which amends the 2003 Texas Woman's Right to Know Act ("WRKA"), requires the physician "who is to perform an abortion" to perform and display a sonogram of the fetus, make audible the heart auscultation of the fetus for the woman to hear, as well as explain to her the results of each procedure and to wait 24 hours, in most cases, between these disclosures and performing the abortion.

Senator Patrick said, "I was always confident that our bill would survive any constitutional question because our goal from the beginning was to protect the woman's right to know, protect the unborn and protect the constitution."

Representative Sid Miller, said, "I commend the court of appeals for this just decision which confirms that women have every right to be fully informed about the abortion decision and that my fellow Texas lawmakers who supported this law stayed within the bounds of U.S. Supreme Court precedent."

In August, on behalf of Senator Patrick and Representative Miller and in support of the law, Liberty Institute filed an amicus brief in the lawsuit seeking to strike down Texas' new sonogram law (HB 15), which was originally scheduled to go into effect on September 1, 2011. Senator Patrick and Representative Miller were the authors of HB 15 in the Texas Senate and Texas House of Representatives, respectively. Liberty Institute argued that HB 15 is consistent with The Supreme Court and only requires the disclosure of truthful and accurate information to allow women to make informed decisions regarding their pregnancies.

1. Gulf states brace for unwanted US-Iran war - AFP

This very real fear is prompting the oil-rich states to enhance their defences while hoping that diplomacy can rein in Tehran's regional ambitions and put an end to its worrying nuclear programme. "No one in the Gulf States wants war but everyone is preparing for the possibility that it might happen," said military analyst Riad Kahwaji.

- Lord, all the earth's riches belong to You. We pray that a harvest of people will return to You and know that You are the provider and protector of riches. We do pray godly wisdom for leaders. We know what Your word says about the last days. We ask for mercy in the Gulf States. Open the ears to hear the voice of the Lord. May there be repentance where it is still needed. Please give us a President who will be led by the Holy Spirit and have godly wisdom in the areas of defense. In the name of Jesus we pray for mercy. Amen

- Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.(Jeremiah 35:15)

2. Report: Russian naval force arrives at Syria port in 'show of solidarity' - Ha'aretz

A large Russian naval force arrived at the Syrian port city of Tartus, the French AFP news agency reported on Sunday, in what the regime of President Bashar Assad is calling a show of "friendship."

- Lord, it seems that the unholy alliances are growing for the last days scenario. Help us to know when and how to pray as we go through the upcoming times. We again pray for the protection of Your people in the Middle East countries and for Israel. We pray a hedge of protection and the blood of Jesus over them. We pray that more will call out to You as they see these events unfolding. Lord, reveal to people the times we are entering.

- And you shall also read them in the hearing of all Judah who come from their cities. It may be that they will present their supplication before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way. (Jeremiah 36:6-7)

3. UK sends most powerful vessel to Gulf - Jerusalem Post

The UK is sending its most powerful naval vessel to the Gulf to counter any potential Iranian attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz, the Daily Telegraph reported Friday. The ship, a Type 45 destroyer named HMS Daring, will depart from Portsmouth on Wednesday and is set to arrive in the Gulf by the end of January. It is capable of shooting down "any missile in Iran's armory," according to the Telegraph.

- Lord, we thank You for the support of the UK against Iran, and that they are helping provide protection. We bless this naval vessel to do any work it needs to do and pray that leadership would know the right actions to take. Thank You for all those who will stand with us against evil. As we stand for freedom may people have revelation that it is You who really brings freedom. In Your name, Jesus, we pray. Amen

4. China warns US on Asia military strategy - BBC

China's state media have warned the US against "flexing its muscles" after Washington unveiled a defence review switching focus to the Asia-Pacific.

- Lord, as we pray for our military and their strategy, we are aware that many believe there should be an increased focus on the Asia-Pacific. Help us prepare spiritually and physically to be ready for what our enemies are planning. Again, we pray for a President, Commander in Chief, who understands these issues and seeks guidance from You, that it may be Your army used for Your purpose. We pray protection for the military and our leaders. May the focus be in the right places and guided by You. In Jesus name. Amen

5. US expels Venezuelan diplomat Livia Acosta Noguera over links to cyber-attacks - Fox News

THE Obama administration will expel Venezuela's consul general in Miami after allegations surfaced that she discussed possible cyber-attacks on US soil while she was stationed at her country's embassy in Mexico. The State Department said it had declared the diplomat, Livia Acosta Noguera, persona non grata and given her until Tuesday to leave the country.

- Lord, we ask that more such people be exposed and be dealt with in wisdom. May things done for the forces of darkness be brought to light. We pray for protection over any information these people have acquired, so that it would not be used for evil. You are the one who spreads light, and said we are the light to this world. May Your people help to expose things done in the darkness. You are the Way, the Truth and the Light. Thank You for Your light. Amen.

1. New threat from Sinai threatens Eilat bound aircraft - ICEJ News

After a long, violent 2011 in which thousands of portable anti-aircraft missiles have been looted from government arsenals in North Africa, civilian airliners headed for the southern Israeli resort city of Eilat from Europe are beginning to look for alternative routes which will allow them to bypass the Sinai Peninsula, which has slipped from the control of the Egyptian government and is rapidly turning into a lawless no-man's land. A missile was fired at Israeli Air Force helicopters in August during a terrorist attack launched from the Sinai, and the development has spurred interest in building a new airport north of Eilat around Timna Park.

2. Israeli meeting with the PA kept quiet - ICEJ News

Israeli meeting with the PA kept quiet Israeli officials held a second round of talks with their Palestinian Authority counterparts in Amman, Jordan on Monday, although the media was locked out and the officials did not make a statement to the press following the meeting. Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, who hosted the event, also declined to make a statement to the press following the meetings, unlike last week when he made a brief statement. Officials have indicated that the less attention brought to bear on the meetings, the more likely they were to produce results.

3. Hamas leader warns PA against pursuing peace with Israel instead of Palestinian unity - Haaretz

If Western-backed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas bets on peace talks with Israel rather than reconciling his Fatah movement with Hamas, he will lose out, Zahar said in an interview with Reuters in his Gaza office.

4. Bahrain to Jewish leader: Iran is a threat to us all - jpost

Iran is a common threat to Bahrain, Israel and the US, the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa was quoted as saying by a Jewish official on Sunday. Rabbi Marc Schneier, vice president of the World Jewish Congress, said the king told him he was alarmed by the Islamic Republic during a 45- minute meeting held in the capital city of Manama late last month.

US, EU, Turkey laying ground for the antichrist
The United States, the European Union and Turkey are conspiring together to make public criticism of Islam a crime and to spread Sharia law worldwide. They are working through the little known "Istanbul Process for Freedom of Religion, Belief." This summit was held in Washington, DC in December and the European Union will host the next one in July. In December, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke in support of United Nations resolution 1618 which seeks to combat "intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of, and discrimination, incitement to violence and violence against, persons based on religion or belief." This is the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) push for a global law against criticism of Islam.

The December meeting was a follow up to a July meeting in Istanbul co-chaired by Clinton and OIC's Secretary General. It was also attended by EU foreign Policy Chief Baroness Ashton. The OIC website says the meetings are directed at "dealing with the issue of defamation of religions or incitement to hatred on religious grounds." It all sounds good--freedom of speech, protecting religious rights. The devil, however, is in the details. And the details are laying the groundwork for the rise of the antichrist from a prophetic end times standpoint. Islam is a global political system that uses false religion and violence to advance its political objectives, which are Marxist or fascist in nature.

Therefore, if one criticizes the terrorism or aggression of Islam, then one is also criticizing the Islamic religion. The OIC is intent on banning any kind of criticism of Islam, claiming protection from defamation as a religion. In reality, the OIC is fighting for the establishment of global Sharia law. One of its stated purposes is to "Strengthen intra-Islamic economic and trade cooperation; in order to achieve economic integration leading to the establishment of an Islamic Common Market"--in other words, have Islamic control over all global markets. Another is "to remove misperceptions" of Islam and "Elimination of discrimination against the Muslims in all forms and manifestations."

The US, EU and Muslim States through the OIC began their quest in Istanbul to eliminate all criticism of Islam. Whether it's done in the name of free speech, religious speech or international dialogue on human rights, the goal is Islamic domination using the US and the EU as willing dupes. That it began in Istanbul, Turkey, modern day Assyria and Magog, has significance. There are multiple references in the Bible that the antichrist is the Assyrian. For example, the Lord says in Isaiah 14:25, "I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot." The spirit of the antichrist is revealed in the Istanbul Process and the prophecy clock is moving forward aided by Hillary Clinton and the EU.

Daley Done

There was a stunning announcement in Washington yesterday: White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley has submitted his resignation after just one year on the job and will be gone by the end of the month -- a year earlier than planned. It is difficult to imagine the political atmosphere in Washington getting worse, but Daley's departure does not bode well.

Daley was Bill Clinton's Commerce Secretary and a corporate executive. He was brought into the White House to replace the hyper-partisan Rahm Emanuel and to smooth over relations with Wall Street, the business community and Capitol Hill. When his appointment was announced last January, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said:

"I frankly think it's kind of a hopeful sign. He has the business background. This is a guy who's actually been out in the private sector, been a part of business. Frankly, my first reaction is that it sounds like a good idea."

According to various reports, Daley had promised to stay through the election. He told NBC's Chicago affiliate, "I made a commitment to the president through his reelection and then my wife and I will return to Chicago." Perhaps Daley was uncomfortable with Obama's class warfare rhetoric and the Democrats' embrace of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Perhaps he never fit in with the Obama White House at all. "The Obamas"

A new book about Barack and Michelle Obama is causing heartburn at the White House. The book was not written by Ann Coulter or some other conservative "attack dog," but by Jodi Kantor, a New York Times reporter who has extensively covered the Obamas since 2007. Two passages in particular have made headlines in recent days.

The first involved an extravagant Halloween party in the midst of the Great Recession. As unemployment was surging to double digits, the Obamas hosted an "Alice in Wonderland" themed party featuring actor Johnny Depp -- in full costume and character as the Mad Hatter. It appears as though the White House tried to keep the party a secret, worried about how the lavish event would seem to the public.

I don't know why the White House is so defensive -- I thought "Alice in Wonderland" was the theme at the Obama White House every day!

The second passage is more disconcerting. Michelle Obama worked in the administration of Chicago Mayor Richard Daley from September 1991 to April 1993. But according to Kantor, "[Michelle Obama] particularly resented the way power in Illinois was locked up generation after generation by a small group of families, all white Irish Catholic -- the Daleys in Chicago, the Hynes and Madigans statewide."

Why would the first lady be so upset by "white Irish Catholics"? The Obamas were supposed to transcend race and move America into a new era of post-racial harmony. I wish it were so. But knowing that the Obamas attended a racist church for so many years -- where the pastor gave an award to Louis Farrakhan -- might provide some context for the first lady's alleged resentment. While they were living in Chicago, Barack Michelle Obama attended a church pastored by Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

In the last presidential campaign. reporters began investigating the message that came out of the Obama's home church. The information they unearthed was quite disconcerting to us, and was reported here.

Now that Obama is running for a second term of office, we thought to revisit this information, to wit:

Their pastor yelling loudly from the pulpit one Sunday: "God DAMN America."

- On the day that the first primary has taken place in this election, in the State of New Hampshire, pray that every hidden thing be revealed about the character of each candidate. May the voters choose wisely throughout this campaign season when it is their turn to go to the polls.

The Good News Corner:

No, God is not a Denver Broncos fan - certainly not in the sense of the people who paint their faces half orange and half blue and cheer on the home team at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. So Sunday's exciting-as-it-was-unlikely playoff win over the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers was not, in any way that would suggest the creator of the universe picks sides in a football game, an "act of divine intervention."

But that doesn't mean His name wasn't glorified in the Broncos' 29-23 victory led by quarterback Tim Tebow, whose unconventional playing style and uncompromising expressions of his Christian faith have made him one of the NFL's top stories this season.

I've been to plenty of football games - some of my dearest friends in the world are the families of former Detroit Lion and Bronco Luther Elliss and former Bronco and Atlanta Falcon Jason Elam - but I've never experienced anything like I did Sunday. Yes, the action on the field was thrilling - but it is the discussions in the stands I'll remember, which will have real impact long after the details of yet another "Tebow Time" comeback have faded.

As an evangelical Christian, like Tebow, I am called to share my faith with others - that's why we call it the "good news." Sometimes, that can be a daunting responsibility - the Bible tells us that the way of Jesus can be offensive to those who don't know Him. But there was an openness to hearing the Gospel all around me and my friends Sunday, as complete strangers asked us, in the midst of the game's tensest moments, if we "pray like Tebow does" when circumstances turn challenging. (This is as good a place as any to point out that Tebow is hardly the only, or even the most outspoken, follower of Christ in pro football. Devout Christians suit up every weekend for every team in the NFL.) . . .

After the win over the Steelers, the social media world began lighting up with the fact that Tebow had thrown for 316 yards - as in John 3:16. A friend posted this fact on his Facebook page, not to prove that God roots for Denver, but in the hope that some of his friends who did not know Jesus might look the verse up and learn more about God's goodness and plan for salvation. Sure enough, one of his friends did just that. And John 3:16, like it did when Tebow scribbled it into his eyeblack during his days at the University of Florida, became one of the Internet's top search terms again. (CitizenLink) Read more.
